I have a 92 firebird I've done a full tuneup overhaul to including lots of sensors, it's a 305 tbi with 128k on it with 700r4 trans, the last guy put some shift kit in I'm guessing since I have to rev it high to get it to shift into 2nd but then it's fine after that, drives damn good on the highway, done 75-80mph before....but thus the mpg around town sucks bad since the rpm needs to be high cruising around in 1st at low speeds, I guess putting heavy weights in the governor would fix that. I'm thinking maybe my egr could be bad or need cleaning too and I need to do the IAC relearn procedure....honestly thinking back on it all I could have just done a carb conversion, I still think about doing it at times, heard it's a hell of a lot simpler and more reliable than the computer stuff...my daily driver is a 5.2 dodge ram truck but if I fixed it up the car should get better mpg lol. Think it needs a starter and valve cover gasket too but passenger side with all that smog hose crap will be hell getting to...the car takes a bit of cranking to actually start which makes me think it's the starter for sure, and I think some stupid old car alarm hooked up under the dash slowly sucks the battery away I need to fix too. Ah the joys of getting a neglected 26 year old vehicle :) lol
I bypassed the throttle body coolant lines and connected them to each other, you don't want hot water going through that unless you live in Alaska, HP gain also
"Coolant lines" that actually provide heat to the throttle body. Those "coolant lines" to the throttle body make dealing with the throttle body R&R a million times more trouble. GM was so concerned about making their performance car functional in cold climates, but then they shortchanged the cooling system so the damn thing has overheating issues /problems in warm climates where the thing is actually driven year round.
I know it's an old video but maybe someone can answer something for me, what do you do with the solenoid plug to the ecm? Does the tune take care of it being unplugged from the solenoid?
I’m guessing I would have to have the computer tuned on my obd2 lt1 someone took off the air pump egr the solenoid and purge valve, the car was running at 14.1 and would climb up to 14.7 but I put the egr back on with the solenoid and every start up it’s at 14.7 now the air pump was taken off due to custom headers put on the car

If you blocked off the EGR ports and just left the hose uncapped, it would throw a code obviously. But since you capped off the hose, why would it still throw a code? Wouldnt it still think that an EGR was still connected and therefore throw no code?
The ECU checks for a small variation in engine speed when the EGR is activated and if that variation is absent the ECU will throw a code that says that the EGR system doesn´t work. But this would of course not happen if the ECU never even tries to activate the EGR, as in the video where Klowny deactivates the EGR in the ECU software.
Nice work! Who can burn the chips. I am a computer engineer but I don't anything about burning chip. Is it cheaper to send it off and have the EGR and VATS killed? or can a computer smart person buy a low cost burner and do this?
Need to revise timing curve to compensate for increased combution chamber temp. EGR lowers chamber about 300deg You likely will now notice some "pinging" as you accelerate at mid range. Deleting EGR not good idea without other system adjustments.
guys I would appreciate it if someone would help me out I have an 86 Camaro with a 305 I'm going to get the motor rebuilt what is the best parts so I can get more horsepower I would like to keep the same motor instead of switching to a 350 or 383 it's not a race cars it's going to be a street car
I've read that the problem with a 305 is that the heads flow so badly, among other things. And that you'd save a lot of time and money by just picking up any old 350... I have an 84 Tran Am (owned it since 86) that's locked up, and it was always a dog power wise, compared to the 84 Mustang GT I traded in on it. It only has 137k on it, but it had a blown head gasket, and would lose coolant pressure when it was shut off (could hear it bubbling up). Didn't know that's what it was at the time, but it seized one morning after about half a crank over. And has been that way since 96.. lol It's such a beautiful car that I never junked it (Black n Gold with T Tops). Point is, that I'm planning to get it out of it's decades long corner of my shop soon, and IF I can make that 305 run again with a new set of rings (and carb rebuild, etc.), I may will stay with that 305. But most likely I will replace it with the LT1 currently in my 93 Vette (when I find a good LS for it). And I would only keep it because at this point I seem the get the most satisfaction by far, from making something out of nothing (aka, what I have on hand). So yea I can see working with what you have, but not past what it would cost you in money, time and trouble by going a "better" route..
Dump the 305, get a crate 350 motor from a reputable Co or builder, if you've never rebuilt engines before this is not the time to learn, a good crate motor will come with a warranty, Im a mechanic.
Only GM would engineer so much fail in one place: unnecessarily convoluted, multi-piece intake. Then, above all, they put a coolant crossover at the throttle body
noce, I just got me a 92 rs, wen I floor it, the car bogs down, I noticed this is usually in 3rd gens, any help ? could be fuel pump, filter, plugs etc ?
+Jay Alvarez Just got it? start with a complete tune up, plugs, wires, cap rotor, air filter, fuel filter and oil change. Then start to diagnose from there
You don't want to remove the EGR valve because it cools the engine when it's hot. It recirculates the exhaust gas and cools the combustion chamber. Without it, the valves can burn.
klowny1969 But still, it would keep the engine cooler. With a/c, the engine runs hotter. In the long run, valves burn. But, EGR valves stick open. They either run off of vacuum or a PVS or the EGR temp. sensor. You want it to open at the right time. At full-throttle, it might close because the vacuum is low. There's a delay valve you could install.
In all actuality..the egr contaminates the intake charge..best thing to do is to get rid of it..I'm not sure you know anything about me..check out my other videos on my channel..I dont mess with stock stuff
Recently bought a 87 GTA. I threw all new sensors at it. Due to the set light does not work in the car. Dome buffoon cut the wires. But the car keeps falling on it's face when I come to a complete stop or a light. I assume stuck open egr. Due to the simtoms. New tps set at .54 new iac set. New collant temp sensor. New fuel filter. Also fuel pressure test at 45 psi. New maf. This is the last thing I hope fixes it. Any others that could make it fall on it's face.
Im thinking about deleting all the emissions bs on my 84 camaro have you done this yet and if so did you use an air pump delete pully?. And did you plug off the manifolds??
I got intermittent egr code after starting the car up. I checked egr valve itself and its clean and not ripped (stays open when I block the egr pin hole). Car passed smog check. I don't think that I have vacuum leak (hoses and new and connected properly). What ca cause that intermittent code? tnx
+Vladymyr Koval if the car is a thirdgen then its possible either the solenoid isnt working sometimes or the egr could be sticking sometimes..thanks for watching
Long shot here... any chance you're anywhere near Eastern PA? You look like you know what your doing with these cars and I desperately need someone that knows what they are doing with these cars and this system.
Ok really stupid question, why? I have a basic concept, the intake is cooler and there's "garbage" exhaust going into the combustion chambers and better performance. Does it affect fuel economy? I know this is going to seem really stupid to a lot of you and I am not asking to be a jerk or start a argument or make anyone mad, I'm new at this and I don't know more than I know and I'd really like too start on a project car.
very easy..cut the line plug it..then discard the check valve and put a little filter on it..ill do a vid when i can..thanks for watching and commenting

Still watching old videos. I decided to block off but now can't get the plate. 2023 issues 😊
Go to Hawks Motorsports I got one and it’s the same
Probably a dumb question here but if a third gen camaro has an OBD1 computer I was told it wasn't able to be tampered with. Is this true?
Big Zaddy not true
85-92 tpi* lol great video man
+Samuel Garfunkel yeah thats right lol..thanks for watching
Only GM would engineer so much fail in one place: unnecessarily convoluted, multi-piece intake. Then, above all, they put a coolant crossover at the throttle body
what is the part number on the solenoid and switch
Hey Klowny, would you happen to know the egr location on 2002 ls1 camaro
sory i dont remember..look around the intake manifold
@@klowny1969 I'm hoping it's not under the wind shield. Lol
Lol..dont think it is..
@@klowny1969 I can't even find the part online. It's different between 98-00 and 01-02
Just to let you know, turns out the 01 and 02 Camaro SS's do not have an egr after not finding it and reading a bunch of forums on lstech
Will this work on a 91 vette
Can I do this on a carbureted 350 ? Same procedure?
Yes! Don't forget to subscribe 😉
noce, I just got me a 92 rs, wen I floor it, the car bogs down, I noticed this is usually in 3rd gens, any help ? could be fuel pump, filter, plugs etc ?
+Jay Alvarez Just got it? start with a complete tune up, plugs, wires, cap rotor, air filter, fuel filter and oil change. Then start to diagnose from there
new fuel filter, pump, new injectors. new icm with artic 5 silver thermal paste, full tune up. no luck.. hmmmm, maybe a map semsor?
@@jayalvarez8220 did u ever find th problem???
Nice video!
You don't want to remove the EGR valve because it cools the engine when it's hot. It recirculates the exhaust gas and cools the combustion chamber. Without it, the valves can burn.
Marty Stevens this is true..for a stock engine..I dont do stock
klowny1969 But still, it would keep the engine cooler.
In all actuality..the egr contaminates the intake charge..best thing to do is to get rid of it..I'm not sure you know anything about me..check out my other videos on my channel..I dont mess with stock stuff
klowny1969 I understand about EGR's and the trouble they cause. On HP, you might want to eliminate it because of valve overlap.
Why do you have to delete the EGR system for racing applications?
I plan on doing it to my LS1 trans am
Against smog laws
klowny1969 smog laws for racing? I don’t get it
Should only delete an egr for off road vehicles..because regular street cars have smog laws they have to abide by
klowny1969 Oooh okay well I’ll be drag racing my trans am
Recently bought a 87 GTA. I threw all new sensors at it. Due to the set light does not work in the car. Dome buffoon cut the wires. But the car keeps falling on it's face when I come to a complete stop or a light. I assume stuck open egr. Due to the simtoms. New tps set at .54 new iac set. New collant temp sensor. New fuel filter. Also fuel pressure test at 45 psi. New maf. This is the last thing I hope fixes it. Any others that could make it fall on it's face.
Ses light.*
Rays Camaro Rs. Clean the throttle body if u haven't already..could also be a bad maf if ur car is maf, u can also try cleaning that as well
Try reading your check engine light
>It'll never reach 255MPH
I know it's unreasonable, especially for a TPI, but I can't help but hear that as a challenge.
Glad i got a carb
Hater Annihilator lol
Im thinking about deleting all the emissions bs on my 84 camaro have you done this yet and if so did you use an air pump delete pully?. And did you plug off the manifolds??
Hater Annihilator yes..easy to do..get the delete pulley and cut all the air injection stuff and weld them shut
I just want all that crap gone and jw is that the tekton torque wrench?.
Harbor freight torque wrench..car craft found it to be very close to snapon torque wrenches
+klowny1969 thanks for the reply ill check it out, car is 1988 gta 350
+Vladymyr Koval np
Code 32? Either a bad EGR temperature switch or clogged passages. The latter is more likely.
Will the vehicle still start up and run normal if you don’t delete it out?
Yeah..but u need to tune
Long shot here... any chance you're anywhere near Eastern PA? You look like you know what your doing with these cars and I desperately need someone that knows what they are doing with these cars and this system.
Nope sorry
Did you get the chip tuned to delete out the EGR?
yesir...i believe i showed some of that in the video..dont forget to subscribe
So if my car is registered in the country where emissions don't matter is it still illegal for a street car?
Emissions don't matter over there? Where is that? I would like to move there lol
do you also have the subfrAme connectors?
This was a customers car..but yes he has them
Ok really stupid question, why? I have a basic concept, the intake is cooler and there's "garbage" exhaust going into the combustion chambers and better performance. Does it affect fuel economy? I know this is going to seem really stupid to a lot of you and I am not asking to be a jerk or start a argument or make anyone mad, I'm new at this and I don't know more than I know and I'd really like too start on a project car.
I need eprom chip burned can you help
Is this truly the SAME ENGINE of the 1987 Pontiac Trans Am GTA ?
Yesir
So u plugged in the computer to an obs1 deal i dont know what you mean by burn a chip
Save the new program to the chip..don't forget to subscribe 😉
what the benefits from egr delete?
Jose Cardenas less contaminants in combustion
can we do a charcoal canister delete?
very easy..cut the line plug it..then discard the check valve and put a little filter on it..ill do a vid when i can..thanks for watching and commenting
Hey chief Ik this has nothing to do with this video but really like the way explain shit, anyways looked all around on the forums and all for the fuel sending unit, I changed mine out but didn't realize how it was sitting in there. Now installed and tank in place my fuel gauge is on 1/4 even when I went to go fill it up. Previously before changing it the float was working fine. Maybe u have advice or a link . Get at me if you can help me out .
Maybe the float in the fuel sending unit is trapped or stuck in some way?
Need help was going 255mph and EGR came on lost the race what do i do 😰
You need more horsepower
why change the tpi gaskets, they looked fine?
because sometimes they rip..i dont remember if this car they ripped or not..i work on tons of cars..cant remember
@@klowny1969 I see, mine are pretty thick and hard, and I guess I've been lucky, pulled it apart a couple times already, I had to replace the fuel injectors.
cool..yeah, usually you should put gasket sealer on them to guarantee a leak proof seal..and that tears the gaskets
Great video! Have you considered the TB coolant bypass trick?
i bypassed it when i installed the holley stealth ram on this vehicle..check out that video you will probably like it..thanks for watching and commenting
Do away with the O2 sensors if you got headers big Improvement hoorah
what is the benefits to deleting the EGR
Less stuff to go wrong..cleaner charge..can tune it for more power
what does the EGR actually do ?
How can I get chip burning software
Hi. Could u please do a intake manifold removal and install video please? Maybe you can replace your intake gaskets. :)
Sincerely.
+amrix15mag here is a video where i changed the intake manifold gasket on a 350 vortec v8 engine: th-cam.com/video/dBuPzmTr9-Y/w-d-xo.html
i also have part two on my channel..thanks
Hi again. Do you have a video on changing or removing the intake manifold on a camaro tpi engine z28 or iroc z? I have tpi 305 engine and I want to upgrade and change gaskets. Sincerely.
I miss my 88 L98 IROC-Z. Never should have sold it. Now, my hot rod is a 06 5.3 Monte Carlo SS. The monte is much faster, but that is about it. The IROC did everything else so much better.
lol thanks for watching
Could of sold that EGR Temp sensor for about $100. Damn.
MY FIRST THOUGHT. ALSO WHY CUT THE WIRE THAT DAMN SHORT? NOW NO GOOD TO ANYONE CAN'T EVEN SPLICE. WOW!!!
what is the name of that program u use
Mickey Bass tunerpro
can any please tell what is the use of that ?
Cleaner combustion..and less things that can go bad
Sup klowny I need a chip burned can you help me
you would add more power not hooking up the coolant hose to the throttle body
but yeah, iget that the guy didnt want to buy a new egr
big daddio yes..thanks for watching and commenting
Your gaskets are on the wrong sides. You can see it peeking out. They are identical other than that, that is how you tell.
david lahey they are fine
