This was exactly what I was thinking of doing on my 92 RS, and is the exact kind of video I was looking for. I did a few hours of research but couldn't find any on what to do about the PCV valve, or the sensor on the underside. Thank you!
How about leaving the stock cold air ducting ,just using a taller air cleaner and flipping the tin cover ,exposing the cleaner ? Best of both worlds and nothing to remove or replace other than the filter and your PCV remanes active.
I'm doing a really cool mod to it next episode. Will be doing a temperature test. Not necessarily dyno but could indicate better performance one way or the other
Thanks for the video, currently finishing up a project that sat for a while and i needed help identifying vac lines. Went from 305 to 350 but had to shelve the project for two years, and forgot some things in that time.
Very helpful on removing the stock open airs IAT, thank you. Mine has been unplugged for a year & some not days, I have a hard start & have to wait for the vehicle to cool down hopefully this is the problem
The tube and filter you are replaced is actually the Positive Crankcase Ventilation filter. The actual PCV, pollution control valve, plugs into the front grommet on the passengers side, on the front half of the valve cover on my 91 Camaro RS. I am actually considering doing this mod but I have 2 1/2 inch cowl induction hood so I may go with a slightly taller K&N filter element and K&N X-treme filter lid to pull in the cooler air from cowl induction hood. My car is about to be finished being painted. I'm hoping to get it back next week. I subscribe to your channel and check back often. Can't wait to see what you have in store for your next vid.
@@ZeryArtzTM that's what I ended up using as well. I had to get a plastic riser for the air cleaner to because it wasn't going to sit without it. Autozone as well.
Just bought a 92 convertible with no air cleaner . Thanks for the video. Mine not starting good cold and has high rpm on idle. I will find that air sensor now and get an air cleaner .
Bearded Reviews, on this video at 4:34 you mention that you did not use the grommet that came with the push in breather that you linked. What grommet ended up working? I am undertaking this project on my 92 RS and acquiring the parts/pieces. Thank you.
Still waiting on the video of the air inlet hose though. Previous owner of mine had kind of a ram air set up channeling air from below the bumper tubed up to the factory air cleaner. I have a vented cowl hood. Think that would help with air flow?

I have a 91 camaro Rs and it already has an open air filter. But it won't pass smog. Is tnere anything i can do to make it pass smog emissions without having to put back the original air filter?
Do you know what that part is called that that the egr valves hoses connect to in the pan on here it says IAT but in my 81 or just has the hoses connections without the plug
@@beardedreviewslike bad smoking, I found out tho for my 1984 z28 it’s half carburetor half fuel injection so once I pulled out the hoses it knocked the computer out of sync so know the carb just needs to be rebuilt
The pipe on the passenger side valve cover is NOT a PCV valve. 😂 It’s not a valve at all. It’s simply a breather. The actual PCV valve is on the drivers side valve cover.
Easily another 100 HP. Lol. I think Our engines get too hot for those types of air cleaners. You could delete the vapor canister And run a cold air intake right behind driver headlights. I really should finish watching the whole video before posting comments.
Finally someone explained it in detail!!! Answered my questions! Thanks bro.
So glad I could be helpful for you!! I never saw any info like this in video form, so I figured I would just make it

Did this yesterday.. definitely helped. Check engine light is on. Is this because the vacuum sensor is capped now?
To help keep under hood temperature low, you may consider doing the hood vent heat extraction louvre project with a mesh…
Yea I have considered that. It looks interesting
Nice video imma change mines tomorrow 🤝🏾
Great detailed install.thank you.
I appreciate you very much
On my 1991 I left the stock filter n everything I only put a filter lid by k&n so I guess I still kind of get cold air by the snookel

“Boom we got a friggin bunggg hole” 😅
What did you do with the hose around turmack area ?
I saw the link for the push in breather but is there a different one used ? Can’t tell
Do you have to drill a hole for the sensor in the back of the air cleaner or can you bypass it?
Looks good 👍
thanks man!
Plz help where did you get the pcv valve gasket from
Hey man what’s the paint code… love this color
its called ironman silver. paint code for a hyundai veloster
So you dont have any suction to your pcv system then so your blow by just smokes under your hood and get sucked into the cab by your fresh air vents ?
yea. keeps me in touch with the outside world
Will putting a KnN filter on my carbed 305 make it any faster?
hmmm. That's debatable. I honestly have no idea, but my guess would be no. I just learned to be happy with the power my 305 had.
Is there a way to bypass the IAT sensor? Or do I HAVE to drill out a hole for it
I'm sure you could bypass it, but the point of this video is to show you how to do it properly without bypassing anything
What did you do about the hole left in the manifold from the hot air tube?
I just left it open. It's not like a hole that created an exhaust leak. Just a secondary hole on a piece attached to the manifold
Damn. Ok. Aesthetic wise I don't like the look of a useless open port. Was hoping there was a way to close it without getting new headers.

I don't think the air filter would have much to do with smog. That would be the backend of things. The stuff that comes out, like exhaust
What do you cover or plug the valve cover hole with after removing the cold start (dryer hose looking) hose?
Wondering the same thing!
What if you have an egr valve with vacuum hoses ?
Delete it, you just need to get a new longer belt after you eliminate the egr pump

You can leave the funnel thing that’s right at the front of the hood on to keep cycling cool air in the engine bay
I followed this video exactly the same and the carburetor started smoking after this?
smoking like burning off oil residue or smoking like bad smoking?
