Wasn't the collapse of Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall too a result of an abrupt revolution? Wasn't the Tienanmen Square suppression a suppression of revolution? Should one support a revolution in North Korea today or allow the status quo to continue? Therefore, it depends which revolution we are talking about and what kind of revolutions we prefer, depending on our comfort levels with the present system that we are in. At the end of the day, each one of us have one life and if you happen to belong to the bottom 10% of the least powerless what would our preference be? For example, what would an extremely poor widowed Dalit woman prefer, when she is made aware of the immediate possibilities of a gradually 'improving society' where her life remains more or less the same although there's a possibility of her grandchildren enjoying a slightly better life vs 'a revolution' that could bring about a decent future in her lifetime? It's a different matter that the revolution could turn to totalitarianism in the future against which her (then probable middle-class) grandchildren could rebel. Consider for instance why the poor in Kerala preferred the much less free Saudi Arabia to "nadu" to make a living than to stay back in a freer Kerala. If the choice is between escaping poverty vs embracing freedom, it's likely that the poor choose to escape poverty. This is because poverty itself is unfreedom.
I would say, the key is democracy as a Universal Value. We shouldn't fall for revolutions that brand this as "bourgeois democracy" and advocate any type of totalitarian rule. The places you mentioned doesn't have democracy. Revolutions with an explicit aim to establish democracy would be fair, as after all, "democracy is the worst form of governance, except all the others".
