A big thank you to Ritchie Roesch from fujixweekly.com for making the Portra 400 film simulation recipe, and the Vintage Kodacolor film simulation recipe.
Fujfilm's Film Simulation features are one of the many reasons the Fujifilm X100V, Fujifilm X100F, Fujifilm X-Pro 3, Fujifilm X-T30, Fujifilm X-E4 and Fujifilm X-T5 are so popular. When I bought my Fuji X-T30 I started experimenting with a lot of different Film Simulation Recipes because I was looking for an easy way to get the film look. In this video I show the best Fujifilm Film Simulation Recipes, many of which I have developed myself.

My friend made me laugh when he asked ’why spend all that money on a good camera to make the photo look like a old 1980’s one’ fair point I guess 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah that’s a very fair point 😂
Bro I haven't laughed so hard from a comment
Because that’s when photos had soul 😅
Because it’s cheaper to buy $2k camera than developing film 🤣🤣

So far i've been trying many simulations on my x-t30 and the only one that seems to give the best results in a fair range of light and color situations is the Superia 800 sim. I am absolutely stunned by every shot i take with it and never bothered to edit them/shoot raws.
Love seeing your channel grow! Thanks for sharing presets and an excellent video as always ✌🏻
Thank you for your support!!! 🥰
Content - top-notch. Humour timing - getting there :) Your videos have evolved very well, so do keep the efforts going. Will try your high-contrast B&W recipe for sure on my X-T30II.
Thank you! 🙏😊
Thank you - I love your 'no-nonsense' approach. I have definitely subscribed.
Thank you! 😊🙏
Hey man, new Fuji owner here and loved the video. First couple minutes had me hook line and sinker, along with good tunes and great photos, got a sub here and also picked up the Analog Vibes pack to help support. Keep it up and Happy New Year!
I really appreciate your support!! Happy new year to you too 😊
You are doing a great job kid. Love your channel!
Thanks for these tips. Just got my x30 gonna try these outs
I used your presets over a portra 400v2 preset from fuji x weekly multiple times before seeing this video too. It just works!
Haha that's great! So I wasn't even the first to discover this 😂
That Astia Simulation by you is 👌🏽 gonna try it out today!!
Love your storytelling as always!
Thanks for watching! 🥰
Great recipes! I edit my JPEGs all the time, usually the exposure and maybe colour vibrancy or saturation👍
Good stuff! The Fuji JPEGs don’t seem to fall apart as quickly as other jpegs when editing luckily
That's why I switched from Sony to Fuji - 100% less editing.
These are great, thanks for sharing
That was a wonderful and very entertaining video presentation. I really do love your film stimulations that you created.😊
Thank you I appreciate it!! 😊
I think we can all relate to the introduction of this video. Especially what you said from :57 to 1:10 lol. This is definitely true for so many of us!
Loved the jpegs that you added the f400k preset. I wish there was a recipe that got that exact vibe.
Yeah that would be so cool!
thank god for x1.5 speed
love your videos!
found a old flim camera from father old stuff fell in love with that but film roll are EXPENSIVE looking for digital with flim simulation for my budget this fit perfect open to suggestion
Echt coole Videos, habe auch die xt-30, deine Rezepte sind echt nice, und dein Videoschnitt ebenfalls:)
Freut mich, danke! 🥰
Amazing!
Really enjoyed this, thanks! new sub
i always batch render all my photos in fujixraw studio with richie's portra 400 first before i even look at other recipes, its such a good starting base.
5:57, thats exactly how i edit. i have a tone layer preset in lightroom, then stack a fuji recipe from xraw studio for my colour layer, then another grain layer preset from lightroom. throw them into photoshop, adjust opacity on the layers to get the look, done.
Interesting workflow! Didn't know people actually did this 😅
@@futc.photography so a favourite of mine is to export my image with RNI's polaroid 600 lightroom preset as a base layer, then add richie's bright summer or portra 400 from xraw studio as a colour layer set to around 30% opacity and blend mode to screen in photoshop. this brings in some more colour to the image but still keeps the polaroid feel.
Hey you were just down the street from me in Denver!
Hi, you are a great inspiration! Since I bought the X-T30 with the 27mm pancake I have found my photo passion again after 15 years walking around with a heavy D90 with a massive zoomlens. Now I take the X-T30 everywhere I go. By the way, i am from the era of the Praktica MTL3. Don’t forget to visit Ghent and Bruges next time you’re in Belgium :)
Good content and presentation!
Much appreciated!
OMG I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE EDITING THE JPEGS FROM MY FUJIFILM
Haha apparently you’re not 😁
I have an x-trans 3 sensor. If the color chrome effect is turned off, will this work with my sensor since my XT-2 does not have this effect? Beautiful photos by the way.
You have a great music selection
I really appreciate that!! I spend a lot of time (probably too much time haha) picking the music for my videos so that's great to hear!
Fuji jpgs edit really well, they can end up looking more film-like than RAWs
I just wish you could edit and save film simulations on the app to set to the camera
Hi, first of all : thank you !!
But I have a question : How do you save the wb shift on the "daylight" setting for each recipe ? If i set the wb shift for portra 400 and then I switch to GoldenEmbrace, the daylight WB shift stays on the portra 400 input.
Please help ! It's so annoying to change the wb shift manually between each settings...
I got same problem 😅
Coole Idee mit dem hohen ISO bei guten Lichtbedingungen. Dadurch stellt die Kamera im A Modus automatisch auf eine ultra kurze Belichtungszeit und hat 0 verwackelte Fotos. 🤯
Plus den Filmlook durch das Rauschen.
Coole Idee, merke ich mir 👍🏽
Why use German?
@@morchedlafferty8614because bro is German in case you have never noticed. Why shouldnt he talk in German to him? Learn German or use Google Translate 🤷🏻♂️
@@venom2k2 imagine this is a community, and it's very likely we would discuss ideas on the comments, would it work if each speaks their own language? No hate to any language though.
@@morchedlafferty8614given that a translation is a single click away, I say replying in any major language shouldn’t be a problem
I wanted to have the RX100V so badly for months, now I am not sure if i should buy the XT30 instead... Price do matter sometimes ;)
How to get consistent results when using film simulation?
What is the color chrome fx blue and clarity settings for blue hour vibrance recipe?
My Fuji doesn't have those newer settings, you can just experiment to see what works. I'm guessing decreasing the clarity and setting the color chrome fx blue to strong would work well.
Does all this pics came straight out of camera or u done any editing
Hi, great stuff! what did you use to record videos in this clip? :D
Footage is filmed with my red epic mx, and there are some iPhone clips in there as well
No issue with editing jpegs. You won’t get as much out of it, that’s all. But not like you are forbidden to add saturation or edit the contrast.
I know this is an unpopular opinion but I’m just a hobby photographer abd I think fuji jpegs are surprisingly editable
I deliver Fuji JPEG to couples and family clients all the time with minor tweaks in exposure shadows and highlights. Really speeds up my workflow and the JPEG has a certain quality over the raw processed in Lightroom.
Not unpopular at all
im applying these settings to my x-t30ii but not getting any similar results. Any idea what Im doing wrong?
Make sure you're setting your white balance correctly, that makes a huge difference.
What are the benefits of the XT30 vs the X100V
XT30 is smaller, and interchangeable lenses
Do you have any good ones for the xt20
You can use these on the X-T20, just leave out the few options the X-T20 doesn't support and it should be fine
Open question: I’ve heard these simulations are on Fujifilm cameras. But is it exclusive. And can’t these simulations be done via any photoshop apps?
Of course you can get film-like images by editing with programs like photoshop or adobe Lightroom (I've done a whole video on that topic). But if you want the actual Fujifilm Film simulations they are exclusive. Though, in my opinion if you just want the "film look", editing the photos in post can get you some great results, the film simulations definitely aren't a must.
@@futc.photography I really appreciate your definitive answer. Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing these, your stories help to explain the experiences we could have too! Also, definitely in photo jail
I think many of us are in photo jail 😂😭
Hi! beginner photographer here, was wondering why you say it's a stupid mistake shooting only JPEGs; do you only edit raws and leave your filmsim JPEGs untouched?
It’s fine to only shoot jpegs, but the raw files give you a lot more control. For example if you have an underexposed photo you can get all of that information back in the raw file. The raw files also give you much more dynamic range because you can brighten the shadows and darken the highlights when editing. I like to have maximum control over my photos, and I usually edit them heavily, so I always shoot raw :)
@@futc.photography oh! understood, thanks! 🫡 great video btw, just got my hands on an x100f and will definitely be trying out your recipes, though the x100f doesn't have the color chrome effect
Wait, some of these taken in Denver right?
Yes :)
Film simulation only works in jpeg mode last I checked. Right?
They are baked into the jpegs, but the simulation settings are also saved in the raw files so using the Fujifilm X Raw studio app allows you to apply the simulations in post using your computer.
Undynamic preset;)
Am I not allowed to edit JPEGS in Lightroom whilst using a film recipe? Oops.
similar, but still a lot different from film!
Bruder bist du aus Hamburg, hab die Elfi gespottet
Ne bin ich nicht aber habe Familie da :)
the beach photos look like Netherlands west coast
It is :)
Comment to 81 . Well… is only 80s but 60s 70s 80s and todays…
Most of the film simulations don't really look like the real thing and behave differently to light. Personally if I'm shooting digital then I just want the image to look as close to what I saw as possible instead of trying to fake a film look, I think that will just be a trend that will go away in the near future like selective coloring in the early 2000s.
Happy mistakes happen 😆
Indeed haha
Happy Little Accidents 😄
I'm not sure if ai should take an advise from someone who still collect Nerf Guns 😜
I use a similar approach to almost all my Fuji pics... I just use Classic Chrome jpg's, and slap a preset on and it looks great! And it looks better than it does using RAW files 👌
