It's cool to have other people hunting public land but when you go to a spot that you know you are the ONLY person that has permission for 30 plus yrs and see flint piles and foot prints it's not cool and heart breaking. I went out this morning, Drove 40 miles and that's what I found. I can barely walk and the walk back to my car about killed me. What do you look for in a river than indicates artifacts?

    • @meandmyshadow6269
      @meandmyshadow6269  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just look for gravel bars at random and then I walk them to see if there happens to be anything in them. It's like looking for a needle in a needle stack but with a little practice your eyes will start to spot rocks that aren't normal rocks. In short, I don't really go off of any indicators. I just try to find exposed gravel where I can find it and then I walk it.

    The “agate basin” looks to be made of moline chert (I think I even see the tiny black flecks imbedded in the stone that is a trait of moline). That comes from a very small area along the Mississippi River in N Illinois/Iowa. If it is moline you can see how far the material was taken from its source to where you found it. Beautiful finds, congratulations!
