find of a lifetime

  • 3-minute video of something never ever expected to have happened. hat's off forever to my running buddy who hugely deserves to have a lot more great things happen for him in life.
    the thumbnail image was taken one month after the find when the point had finally completely dried out and the translucence was gone and the patina was apparent.
    as of this writing you can get a cast of this clovis from stonehenge museum supply if you would like to examine it in hand. the point has amazingly fine retouch and sharp edges. i absolutely love it.

    WORDS CANT DESCRIBE HOW GOOD THAT IS! I HAVE ONLY FOUND ONE WHOLE CLOVIS AND I HAD TO GIVE IT TOO THE LANDOWNER WITH ME. HE WAS BESIDE ME WHEN I WALKED UP ON IT. HE HAD NO IDEA HOW RARE OF A FIND IT WAS. IT BROKE MY HEART BECAUSE HE HAD NO IDEA THE STORY BEHIND THE POINT HE WAS HOLDING. CONGRATS TO YALL!!

      +Hutton Parker thanks for the comment :) sorry to hear that you weren't able to keep the one you found. i felt obligated once long ago to give up a very precious find in a similar kind of situation. life's just like that sometimes...

    I have been looking for over 30 years for something that pristine . I am so glade to think I might still get so lucky . And you both should check out that same area 2 or 3 times a year or more .

    I can make one, but to find one, WOW and WOW! Most awesome!

    • @freezecracked8382
      @freezecracked8382  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Charles Senn thanks for the comment. i have made many clovis points, but my son finding this genuine one and then two other stunningly fine genuine paleo points recently has made me completely rethink what it means to be a "good knapper". i had kinda thought i was getting sort of good. i don't think that any more. the finds have been mind-altering for me. i posted about the folsom and midland finds on arrowheadology. no videos posted on those due to some of the behavior of others regarding this video.

    freeze cracked, you said, "a once in a life time find." More like once in 50 life times. That is beyond unreal. CONGRATS

    • @freezecracked8382
      @freezecracked8382  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Phillip Iacobacci thanks so much. yes, i'm not sure that i'll ever really recover from it. it's like my life has changed from the "before the clovis" time to the "after the clovis" time. it's hard to explain.

  • @HillbillysNdaBush

    That tip was razor thin. Wow. You are good enough to make one like that, but i doubt if you would stage something like that. It is a pristine point for sure. Thanks for sharing.

      Very true. It's a piece of art and history. I'd want that to get passed down through generations.

    Yikes - no words! Is that Knife River flint?

    • @freezecracked8382
      @freezecracked8382  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +David Straub thanks for the comment, david. :) it's a texas flint but as yet doesn't match the coloration of anything i've seen exactly. it probably will change color more, not sure. two people online indicated they thought it looked a lot like some flint from the bastrop area of the colorado river. but colorado river rock is a mixture of a number of different types of flint off the edwards plateau.

    better look around. wiggle pick it. that don't look like its ever been resharpend too the halft.
    clovis man may have stashed it with other goodies,or he just fell over dead,either way there should be something else.
    surely a missed/or not missed shot would have nicked it.
    I have hunted 35 years,hard and have never even found a peice of one.If I ever do I will probley fall over dead.
    awesome. bet that guy is hooked

    How does the flaking look freeze cracked :-)

    • @freezecracked8382
      @freezecracked8382  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Indiana Effigy it's just amazing. i just posted another video close-up of the point and it's changing colors. may end up being all tan, probably. thanks for the comment. the flaking was very creative and effective. and the edgework was much better than mine so i have to practice a bunch more and change how i think a bunch more about what a clovis point really is. but i'm grateful for the "lessons" in studying the find.
