      Lol, I had kidney stones once and it was rough fellas, I didn’t know what was wrong with me, I thought I was severely constipated, I drank a bunch of coffee to try to loosen things up but it wouldn’t working lol, I about passed out driving myself to the hospital, I was cured up in a ball in the ER, they prescribed me some Vicodin and told me I had to wait to pass it, they gave me a little screen to pee in so I would know when I passed it, I was guzzling water so it would shoot out like a rocket and when it did holy cow what a relief, I heard it bounce off the screen and found it, idk if y’all ever seen one but they look like those little spikey round things that fall off trees, we call them gum balls down here, I couldn’t believe that thing came out of me lol, my brother passed one about 4 times the size of mine once so I know he was hurting, my Dad was the toughest person I ever knew but when he had them my mom said he was curled up on the bathroom floor crying like a baby, I wouldn’t wish that shit on anyone, Thank God for Vicodin, God Bless Fella’s!!

    Stone balls occasionally turn up in the Western Great Basin. Sometimes as isolates or more frequently as groups of graduated size. Perhaps from +5”d to ~2”d. They’re collectively referred to as gaming stones/balls, though I’ve never heard or read how the game was played. The ones I’ve seen are almost always basalt. I’ve never seen one made from silicate(?) material like yours.
    Great stuff, and thanks for posting.

    • @meandmyshadow6269
      @meandmyshadow6269  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for all of that information! Yes, there were two of the balls found close to each other. The one my buddy found was slightly larger than mine. Had we been more into arrowheads back then, we probably would have looked for more. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say! If mine is truly stone, I would say it's a silicate of some sort for sure. But it is incredibly heavy and dense for its size. It feels and weighs about like what a steel ball bearing of similar size would feel like. It's so polished it looks like porcelain though.

    Killer Dalton! Hard to say about the ball. I know they form in rivers in pockets, but the native Americans found them too and used them as game balls or what not. You found a point in that area, good possibility

    • @meandmyshadow6269
      @meandmyshadow6269  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Randy! Yes, I think the fact that a point was found in the same general area as the ball is a possible indicator it could be artifact related. Back in those days, we were mostly concerned with metal detecting and bottle hunting. Hadn't gotten too heavily into arrowhead hunting yet. Had I known then what I know now, I would have scoured that area and looked for other artifacts. That whole area got fill dirt on a lot of it and/or re-sodded. I guess I'll never know now!

    One theory I've heard on the round stones (aka
    "game balls") is this: they were originally "tumbling media", as you said. They were later used as a ballast in the hulls of ships. After arriving in America, some ships had no means or intentions of returning to Europe. The balls were then used for trade with natives.
    In my area, many of the balls have small areas with what looks like a textile impression, suggesting they were originally handmade with some type of clay like material.

    • @meandmyshadow6269
      @meandmyshadow6269  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Now that ballast stone theory is one I had not heard yet and I find that VERY fascinating. That would actually be really cool. I guess that would put the "game balls" in the historical period sometime. Probably 15th to 19th century approximately. If that is, indeed, what they are then the ones I found took quite a journey after being received in trade. Thank you for the feedback and I apologize for such a late reply!

    Wow! I was blown away when i seen that ball. Seriously watched that part 5 times over. I have found 2 of them. Exacly what you are holding. Same color same markings same size. When i look real close Mine have small half moon markings all over them almost like finger nail impressions? Left when molding clay But material definitely not clay, and not molded by handway to hard to dense to heavy. I just tried to scratch it with knife and showed no mark. And of course course now my kids have been melting ice cubes with them.
    What are they?! Really!

      That's so weird! It seems like many people also have similar stones as these and a lot of people, like us, really aren't sure what they are. It really is a mystery. I've tried doing a lot of research online and it's one of those rare things that's difficult to search even on google. The hits that comeback are just as varied in what they might be as what I hear in the comments here. A lot of people told me to put it in front of a geiger counter to see if it's radioactive... I guess because it melts ice so rapidly. My dad has one but it doesn't work anymore, sadly. I hope they aren't radioactive, lol! I've had it for a few years and have handled it many times and, so far, I haven't grown an ear on my arm or anything weird so I think we're safe... let me know if you find out anything about them

    ARTIFACT OR FICTION (my analysis from 1100 miles away)
    1. I would look under a microscope to see any micro polish marks.
    2. The context- You said your friend found a point nearby.
    3. Ice melting phenomena.. I had a class last year and it talked about energy transfer. Different elements feel cooler or warmer to the touch but in reality a blanket and a pice of steel in the same room will have the same temperature as the air they just transfer that heat differently. Im sure if you do some research on what solid elements (or combo of) feel "cold" to the touch.
    TLDR: Im Going with artifact because it it was tumbling media there would be many more from a spill. Another test is to lick it and see if its just an old gobstopper lol.
    I was wondering the same thing about 365 HeadHunter!! Glad to know he's still alive haha I shared your curiosity there.
    THAT PALEO IS AN ABSOLUTE GEM. Looks like a greenbriar if you ask me but I've only seen a picture of them here or there.
    I tried to upload my video about an hour ago but the file corrupted and it sounded like a bad AM radio station with a black screen, it was kinda funny. Sorry for the long comment bro but you asked for it with your new Artifact or Fiction section.
    Have a goodn!

      I think my buddy Leland will be able to take a look at it under his electronic microscope. That ice melting phenom is very interesting. That might explain how it melts through ice faster than my finger on the ice cube can. Lol, it TOTALLY looks like one of those old mega-gobstoppers that had the gummy-dinosaur at the very center. Let me go check real quick..... ok, I'm back and I licked it. Definitely NOT a gobstopper. Tastes kind of.... nuclear? Maybe you're onto something with the radiation. You're actually not the first person to suggest it might be radioactive, lol! Ya'll got me worrying now. Maybe this will be the last episode of Artifact or Fiction 🤣

  • @dr.strangelove7739

    I would be tempted to take a hammer and crack the ball open to see what color it is on the inside. Mineral deposits can do really crazy things, but usually those kind of weird things form in a sea, not fresh water rivers or lakes. It looks like you are in Oklahoma (I'm guessing) because we have lots of giant rivers that have dried up to a 6 inch wide stream of water running down the middle. If you are on the Arkansas river, are you on the natural part or the part the corps of engineers built? I'll do some research and see if I can help identify the ball. I'm intrigued. Great video, by the way!

    • @meandmyshadow6269
      @meandmyshadow6269  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't know how much I would like to crack it open. But at the same time, I hate to break it 😂. Classic rock collector problem. Honestly, I don't know if a hammer would break it open. It's astonishingly dense. Feels like a steel ball bearing in the hand. So, I didn't actually find the ball IN the river, it was in an old neighborhood that got bulldozed that sat a few blocks up above the river. West Tulsa-ish area. They bulldozed pretty deep in a lot of areas and I suspect the ball was already in the ground before the houses were built(circa 1900). I hope some of this info helps! Thanks for taking an interest!
