Hi I'm new to your channel and I'm loving it. I bought the National Geographic geode kit and after cracking one I sold the rest for a profit unopened. Keep it up love your videos
What is the machine you use to cut the rocks and can you explain it to us and maybe tell us what it is or link us a video if you have one already or where to get it it's really cool
Paleocris focuses more on fossil hunting but his rock cutting videos are aweeeesome. Hasn't done one in a while but worth checking out. Their personalities are so funny and uplifting.
The closeness of your fingers to that saw terrifies me. EDIT...I appreciate all the responses to my comment. I understand now the blade is harmless to skin.
Continuous edge diamond blades won't cut you, but they will grind your fingernails down. Someday I plan on upgrading to an actual lapidary saw but for now, I just use a tile saw.
For some reason this was on my home page so I decided to give it a go as I was bored. Here I am now, smiling at a lady cutting open rocks. I never knew they could be so pretty on the inside! Your energy is brilliant and the way you talk about the rocks is so heartwarming. You have just got yourself a new subscriber!😊
Just so you know, when you cut a rock with dendrites, they will only be fully visible if cut from the right angle. If you had cut that second rock in parallel with the bottom it probably would have had dendrites similar to what was visible on the bottom throughout. Also, that black you could see is evidence that there are dendrites from fossil bacteria within, but the angle was off. Loved the video, thanks for sharing it!
I have way too many rocks & I HAVE TO GET A WET SAW! Some might be beautiful & some not.. cutting to see is just so exciting!!! It justifies having pockets full of rocks when you can show them off like this video! Love this! Let's Go Girls💪
I think it's a tile saw. Diamond blades. Water sits in a tray under the blade so it continually spins through it and cools/lubricates it. Reminds me of a table saw for cutting wood. Cept its for tile. Way cheaper than a regular lapidary saw. See how at the end of each cut, it breaks the last little bit of stone out rather than cut it cleanly.
It's cool exposing these rocks' insides to light for the first time ever. You are seeing something that no one has seen before since their creation millions of years ago.
This video is definitely one of these "randomly recommended n the middle of the night" experiences for me and I love it. I did not expect to watch someone cutting rocks and finding out the whole channel is about rocks. Pretty solid.
It would look so cool to have a garden path made with rocks cut in half like that. So you see what is inside them all. And they would look totally different when it rained!
I recently threw away some gouda cheese slices that looked like that rock. Amazing how an unassuming rock can pack such a punch. Love your energy and enthusiasm. Keep up the great content.
I'm showing my rockhound elderly father your channel on Sunday (tomorrow). He'll get a kick out of you cutting rocks open and being so excited. Thank you for sharing your channel. I hope it brings a smile to his face. I'll try to remember to give an edit note about him.
Even the more plain ones are gorgeous! I would love a countertop made of any of them, but especially the ones at 6:20, and 8:30. So beautiful, thank you Ariel!
A lot of people say that collecting rocks is 'boring' or 'weird' but i think it's really interesting and as a person who collects rocks myself i always wondered what could be inside them
Rocks are well underappreciated, how they're made over thousands and millions of years year is just amazing! Big thanks for sharing and getting others into something so natural 😎
LMAO! My husband and I were watching you open that last “holey guy” and we both shouted out “IT LOOKS LIKE BREAD!” 🍞😂 I love this! Do more videos of opening random rocks… inquisitive minds enjoy this lol
Cool video, thanks again. The Breadstone at the end reminds me of Leland blue glass. Alot of the old forges in the Great Lakes region would dump their slag in the lakes and you get glass/stones that look like that. They come in a bunch of colors too. Frankfort Green, purple, grey is most common. I don't know if it is, it just looks kinda like it. Pretty cool.
I am just as curious about rocks. Since I was a little kid (and I am 65 now) I have looked for rocks to brake open and look at the inside of them. (Although I used a hammer and tried to split them in half.) It was so interesting to me that it seemed as though each was an unopened Xmas present. I also thought of how I was the first human to touch the inside of each after millions of years of it being intact. I can totally relate to you in the video. Thanks for making the video, and bringing back the curious feelings to me again. Maybe we are related? lol 😉
Wood saws have teeth that can catch. This has the equivilent of sandpaper for the cutting edge not teeth. The rocks don't jerk out of your hand and touching blade is the same as a rope burn. Usual case is that you make your fingernail an odd shape and jerk your finger when you feel alittle rope burn sting. Once you try it, you realize it's so much safer than it looks 😂 I've hit blade plenty of time n just watch nail wear as I keep doing more rocks
Your joy is so contagious! I just find your channel and adore your content. I’ve always collected crystals and enjoyed rocks, lovely to see your joy with them too!
I recently started rockhounding and absolutely love your videos! They are exciting, educational, fun, and your energy is contagious. I found my first agate the other day. Surprisingly hard to come by in my area. Despite all the amazing desert hikes I've been on recently, my favorite rock is a beautiful egg-shaped agate that I found in the gravel parking lot of a dog park 😅.
This was fun to watch. When I have taught sewing my students got very tense with fear I was going to sew into my finger...... Watching you with your fingers so close to the saw blade helped me understand them. I really loved most of them. Makes me want to go rock hunting.
It’s interesting how so many of us are looking for instant gratification (or not) after cutting open a pebble. I just thought of the millions of years that these rocks took to form, and wondered at the marvels of nature. Every one is unique, and just think of how many there are.
Thank you so much. I am mind blown about the hundreds of thousands of years they have patiently waited to be opened by someone that would be so excited to see inside. Thank you tons for sharing this with me. I am So0o0o0o drawn to stones and rocks it almost hurts!
I enjoyed this video very much. Not only because of the result to cut the stones but your lovely and amazed reaction and laughing when you opened them. Keep it up.

Yeah that holey one definitely looks like bread or some kind of fancy cheese, my first thought upon seeing it was i want to eat that, whoch i'm gonna blame on the fact that i jist woke up and haven't had breakfast yet lol Also those thunder eggs look like they got a little bit of lightning trapped in them!
@AgateAriel Hello and thank you for making this video, that rock at 10: 44 that you say looks like nothing, almost looks like Amber, an ancient resin from pine trees from the Jurassic period or beyond. There have been times that archaeologists have found fossils inside of them. Thank you for sharing your beautiful rocks with us 🥰💐❤️🌹💝
Personally I think whether or not the inside has lacing or banding, seeing first what no one else has ever seen is exciting in itself.. Love your vids.
Super fun video! It’s great to go thru the opening process with you after you cut them. We just got back from a camping trip and both visits to the beach ended up with us taking two very heavy buckets back to our campsite! I definitely need to do what you did since our variety is astounding and I really want to know what’s inside the rocks we found!
Update: The rocks are up NOW on my Etsy!
Here is the link: agateariel.etsy.com they usually go pretty fast!💨

You can buy a tile saw with a diamond blade, not terrifically expensive and have a great time
Meeee toooo!!
@@michelestellar7725 this is the greatest and soo funnn!
When I was in 3rd grade, we stole a pavement block and used it to crush quartz pebbles to get to the shiny part... so yep, this video speaks to me.
The closeness of your fingers to that saw terrifies me.
EDIT...I appreciate all the responses to my comment. I understand now the blade is harmless to skin.
Me too. Should there be a guard or wear gloves?
Pretty sure it's not a normal saw so it's safer for your hands. I've seen some like that. Like the ones they use for a cast
@@keelyschaecher4029yess they only go back and forth, and they only cut through very solid objets, so your hands are to ‘soft’ for it 😊

I really wanted to watch but I really don’t want to see what’s inside a finger
In addition to the "cheese" rock, I thought one of the others looked like a baked potato. You've got the start of a meal.
Hahah perfect-now I just need a turkey rock 🤔😆

thats what i was thinking!
Dendrites are not fossils. They are manganese crystal structures.
Or iron oxide @@nthomas87
Same with the first stone with the vein
Would love to see that one sub cut
For those wanting an actual definition, dendrites are branching patterns of manganese oxide which have crystalised in unique formations.
Woah, thanks!
Thanks for posting this. I was so annoyed when she called them fossils, because that's just false.
Thanks!
I get so excited watching people cut open rocks I'm considering buying a saw of my own🤔 Thanks for inspiring another woman,💖
You definitely should! It’s so much fun!

when you held the oreo and cream rock together, it actually looked like a BUTTERFLY!!!!! 🦋🦋🦋🤩🤩
That was my first thought to ! Definitely looks like a butterfly
I just love your happy enthusiasm for such a simple pleasure. You rock!
