I'm from Germany. Here in Frankfurt we one's had shops like this but they are slowly going away. I don't build models anymore. Have no more time anymore but watching this was like a time travel. My wanna be autism kicked in I would spend hours there just to look at any model there. By the way I can smell the shop just by watching the video. Those shops had this awesome smell in it. Miss the time spending in shops like that. God this was a awesome time travel what a treasure. Thank you.
Max: it is a blessing to get paid to travel to places that allow you such visits. You are truly a fortunate pilot. I do not want to minimize the disadvantages of your job as well. I like your presentation format, as I behave the same when I go into one of these shops: it is way too stimulating for my mend and heart. Keep up the good work!
@@chrispacer4231 I'm stopping over there tomorrow to pick up the two 1/48th Scale Monogram, Liberator variants. He has so much in the shop that isn't on the website.
Holy Schmidt! If only i had known about that shop when I visited the Iowa in San Pedro! Of course i would probably have to rent a trailer to haul my purchases back to Texas
I remember at summer camp -- late '50s -- a lot of the kids built the Skipjack Submarine kit. [1:38] They would ballast it with internal weights and pull it on a string underwater the whole length of the pier across part of the swimming lake. Apparently, it was hydro-namically sound.
WOW! Next time we drive down to Los Angeles to visit our son, I will have to check out JD Hobbies in San Pedro. What a great old school hobby shop! I thought Max was going to pass out from excitement.
Impressive! It was good to see you and Mike Machat hanging out together. I follow both of you, and it was nice to see a couple of model geeks geeking out together!
Max, if you ever come up here, you will have to check out Panther Hobbies. It's ceiling and shelves are very much like this store but with a smaller foot print. It's been around longer than this store. It's been around since the 80's.

I have been a customer of JD Hobbies since the beginning. This shop is probably the largest of it's kind in the area, and it is delightfully "old school"! My house is a miniature version of this shop!🛩️✈️🛰️🚀🛸🚢🛥️🚛🚜🚙🚓🚎🚐🚑🚅🚍🛵😀🤩😎
I think I'm dreaming. Damn !!!! This is modelers heaven.
Yes it is
That looks like an AWESOME hobby shop!!!
It is!
Closest we’ve seen of what a young Max in a model shop was like :)
Max is always a “young Max” in any hobby shop!
I would drop into that store every day! Max, your mission is to organize those shelves!

Most of my stash was bought from a similar store that closed down.
What a great owner - that's a store I would visit if I ever travel to the US.
Reminds me of the model shops of my youth in the 70s and 80s.
Amazing store. I could get lost in there for days.... Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing shop!

WOWSERZZ 🏆🏆🏆🏆‼️ GBA 🙏🤗 Gary.
If I encountered a shop like that, I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven.
I kept checking myself for a pulse.
Thank you so so much for visiting my friend Lou's hobby shop. ❤
Any time!….I’ll be back!
This is awesome.
This looks like paradise! If I´m ever going to visit the US again, I will have to include this location on my trip at all cost.
You should!
Very cool, I will have to hit that up. Sometime try Rare Plane Detective in Palm Springs, Jeff has got some awesome old kits.
I’ve ordered a few kits from them, they’re always getting new stock of vintage kits
CHRIS 🇺🇸
Very cool

🤤🤤🤤
If the TV show happens, I will watch it for sure.
You and me both!
Wish there was a hobby shop like this where I live as I'd be in styrene heaven!
When Louis was talking I spotted Van Halen II, and Fair Warning on vinyl in the background. Looked like they were still sealed.
MAX, was going around to fast for me to notice anything ????
@@chrispacer4231because I was dizzy….😂. More to come in a better video later.

My kind of store. WOW. That Skipjack was an Aurora kit. Safe travels Max.
Thought so. Thanks.
There's an Original Tommy's in Long Beach.
Max I would be slobbering all over if was in there hope Mr Lee has the best of luck on his show 👍👍
That is so intense. Fantasy Island meets Max’s Models!
They have some really cool hobbies stores in Southern California in my travels I've been to a couple of them
I'm booking my flight.
Sweet Mary, probably the closest thing to Nirvana i've seen so far!
Impressive! It was good to see you and Mike Machat hanging out together. I follow both of you, and it was nice to see a couple of model geeks geeking out together!
Nice to see Mike Machat! Now I know why Mike stopped his TH-cam channel…he needed to spend time with Max👍
Happy Place!
I don't live too far from the shop. I'll have to check it out. THANKS!
You are so lucky. I would almost kill to have this in my neighborhood.
Tell them Max and Mike sent ya 😂
OMG OMG Wish I could make it out there.
We had a local hobby shop like that Frank's hobby and barber shop. Place was jammed!
Wow, the big boy's Utopia.
Nerd Nirvana!

Love a good Hobby Shop!!!!!!! 🤜🤛 🙂
I love that place!! Back during 2011-2013, when my son and our posse was attending the Lovecraft film festivals, we would always go in the hobby shop.
Max , if you ever make it to Louisiana then you have to visit Hobbytowne in Baton Rouge . Similar kind of store with lots of vintage kits .
Thanks
So JD Hobbies is going to be the _Pawn Stars_ of the hobby world?
Looks like a fun place to spend a few hours and a paycheck. But Max, how did you resist your urge to tidy the boxes?
😅😅😅😅😅
Who said I did?
I’m sure your inner OCD was kicking in just thinking about organizing that shop!
I actually think I volunteered to do that on my next visit.

I don't know why I thought of Father Ted in The Lingerie department when I saw this? 😮
OMG!
Max, GO Slower. You are making all of us dizzy!
Wow! What a shop!? I would part with a lot of $ with every visit.
My brother had the Skipjack - it had the periscope you could look down and see an explosion!
