This video is too damn good and informative to not be getting more views, your content is amazing! It's refreshing knowing somebody is actually doing a 3V build when I fear there is not much of us left when others are going the coyote swap route or buying the new S550's. Keep it up man!
A lot of people didn't pay attention in school. The information you just gave them probably caused some of their heads to explode. Lol. Great content, I noticed things seemed easier when you were recording those 0-60 and 20-80 times. But I'll wait till you announce that in the next video. Keep'em coming.
@@Four_Eyes Do another video. I’ve got mutha thumper cams stock intake with kandN and cutouts..and that’s it.. my 20-80 is 6.5sec, but I’m pretty sure my peak torque and hp numbers are much lower (310/320 ..maybe..) Maybe it’s the shift in the power band… what do you think?
I’ve been watching since the beginning, and I really love the videos, man! They become more and more high quality with each video, especially with this one! Keep up the great work and I very much look forward to see what you have in store next!
Well Done 👍🏽 if anyone can’t understand it now with the way you perfectly explained it, then something’s wrong with them.. now hurry up and get that Machine to north of 500Whp, trust me after that the only zero to any number time you’ll care about will be your 0 to 100MPH
man you are genius, I have never heard the losses from altitude put in those terms like running 2 pounds of negative boost. because driving at high altitude does kinda feel like driving a car with a broken turbo. thanks for that. Great videos btw! 👍
I just wanna say how much I love your videos. I have always loved mustangs but am not the best when it comes to knowing about cars and understanding how they work. Watching your videos definitely teaches me a lot! After watching your first few videos I was determined to get one of my own and now I am a proud owner of a 2006 GT.
@@christine687 so far I have updated all the suspension. I have performance shocks and struts with lowering springs. I added a strut tower brace and new performance lower control arms. For the engine I have a new 62 MM throttle body ,cold air intake , under drive pulleys and a dyno tune at a local shop. 335 ish to the rear wheel .
Very accurate video, I'm a flight student and you see it in piston singles. We have to adjust fuel mixture the higher we go. I'm in colorado now, so power wise out here everyone is boosted it seems.
I remember you saying in a previous video how this one didn’t do as well... I’m surprised. This was really cool to see demonstrated, especially as an engineer. You should do a dyno version of this.
The ”dish rag” comment made me chuckle but it had more to do with how you timed the delivery with a little deadpan flare coupled with slight hints of derision at its absurdity. Love the content overall! There are very few good quality early first gen S197 videos to consume. Keep the ”geek speak” along with the layman breakdown. The American education system you should be under indictment! You clearly put a good deal of thought into your videos. It kinda of makes me want a 3v project to build!
I’m a 3.7 owner, but you’re videos are great to watch. I live at sea level and took my bolt-on and tuned S550 to the Tennessee mountains and reached 5,000ft and maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan did I notice a difference 😂😂😂😂
Thanks Kevin. The easy answer is I don't post enough. TH-cam doesn't favor creators who upload sparingly. It's a bummer that probably more than half my subs don't even know this video exists.
@@Four_Eyes I agree with it being a bummer. Who knows, maybe if you did just little side videos, apart from your Road to 700 Build, about the science on everything, in the way you do, it'd build up much quicker.
Extraordinario que hayas dado esa demostración, ahora queda claro que tu auto mejoró significativamente con las modificaciones y a nivel del mar no queda duda de ello, excelente tiempo.
Dude if you ever come down to CA...we should meet up and do a track day! Ive got a couple other 3v buddies thatbare super into tracking. You gotta do it man...its sooo addicting
Yeah, I live at sea level and I am thankful for the natural boost. I would like to see a similar test at sea level in cold weather. I have noticed even better performance.
This video is great. It's definitely the TH-cam algorithm that's pretty messed up. Next time you dyno your car you should do this test too to compare the results, if it's possible of course.
I recently took a drive to Colorado from Indiana, Indiana is much closer to sea level compared to Colorado. In Colorado, my Focus ST’s turbo couldn’t even get the boost to get to a high speed because of the thin air. When I got back in Indiana, my boost gauge filled completely and the car was so much faster. I feel sorry for those in thin air areas.
They aren't immune but they aren't bothered anywhere near as much. The thinner air causes a slightly slower spool time but it's usually only a few hundred rpm. After that it doesn't care about air density
All you need now are 4.10 gears to shave off some more time. I think you mentioned having 3.31 gears before but I thought only the autos used that gearing and that the manual had 3.55 gears stock. There’s a sticker on the rear axle that will tell you what gear ratio it is anyways.
Appreciate the patience. Working on a video now. Stage 3 is a bit more serious, so I've been doing quite a bit of research and planning. Videos about Stage 3 will very likely be as follows: cosmetic (actually p stoked on this), cam install, suspension, and then finally the official Stage 3 video.
I’m curious now lol, do we have the same exterior paint? Tungsten Grey? 🤭👀 My only difference is I have a 2007 V6 😔 I have failed you boss. Btw keep up the videos! 🐴👌🏻
True, whilst you mustn't disregard the difference in air temperature, either. I just wonder what shifter (gear ratio, clutch etc) is in your car. Your shifts are quick and purposeful.
Air density is also affected by temperature.. cold air is more dense , hence intercoolers... Its funny, even in my little 1.6 turbo-diesel Citroen van , I can feel the difference in power between warm days and cold days..
Looks like I'm heading to California! Awesome video as always, but what does this mean in regards to living here in Reno? Are you going to install a turbo? Supercharger?
My stang stock and has never had spark plugs changed nor ignition coils its a daily driver since new and mistreated everyday i have to press on it and it runs 5.4 seconds 0-60
Do another video.
I honestly get better times when my engine isn't as hot I have the same stang with the same mods and if you don't test as much or take time between them you will get much better times
Wow what a difference. Dude do you have gears? Or just the standard 3.55s? Thank God I live near the ocean just about 20 miles away.. Do you have cams yet? Remember they take some away some down low. The sound is great though. I myself love the power down low but I with 4.10s got some taken away on top end before the cams. Meaning the power curve kind of went flat. I was playing with a new S550 on the interstate and he could not leave me with the Detriot Rocker cams. Before yes no doubt.
I actually have the optional 3.31 gears installed. Cams are on their way (I finally just got the UPS tracking number today). Definitely looking forward to installing them.
Really looking forward to see how you build up the engine before adding the blower. I want to see the results you get so I can decide if i'm going to go the 4.6 built route or the 5.0 Coyote swap. On a side note how do you plan for the TR3650 to hold all your Supercharger power in the end? Are you going to build up the trany or are you going to swap it for a more beefier one? I'd recommend a rebuilt TR6060 off the Shelby's they're more afford than the Magnum XL and can handle some serious power, while bolting into the 4.6 fairly easy (or so i'm told). Also my Mustang has been built for Autocross handling, and I'd Highly recommend doing a Brembo Brake Caliper swap off the GT500's, I did it to my S197 and along with the custom brake ducts, the stopping power is Unreal! I Love the Videos, always a Joy when I see a New one uploaded! Keep up the Amazing work!!! :D
Have you checked out the build sheet? docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hVIZx8W_6PMGEG0bqVcpb3FUmJhsc5FHKiF8nt7t1EM/edit?usp=sharing I am going to roll with the stock tranny until it gives out.. then make a decision on which to buy. I will go for a big brake kit towards the end of the build, the serious stuff is as much as a supercharger. :| Thanks for the compliments amigo
They're Michelin Pilot Super Sports (275/40/19). I eased off the clutch on that one rather than popping it, but revved up to probably around 3,500. First gear is kind of long (I can hit about 48 at the rev limiter) so it's easy to bog out if there's not a bit of wheelspin or clutch slippage in the beginning.
Post more often!!! Not a lot of 3v TH-camrs out there. Yours stands out. Keep it up!!!!

Another thing to note is that the fastest stock "official" times are probably 0-60 without rollout which shaves off a few tenths

A Dragy would be good for ya, it measures DA, temps, how level the ground is, 0-60, 60ft, 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile and everything else you could need
On top of Popocatepetl the air feels like it has no viscosity and it takes a 40 mph wind to feel resistance.
