Reason why the Mach E gets dropped like that in roll race is I've heard its got a limiter that automatically cuts power when you floor it too long. Think it's just cause Ford is still figuring out the drive train and motors to take the power and be reliable
They do this so that the vehicles range holds up over time. They said if they would have done that the mach-e's battery life would not be good over the span over 8 (I think) years.
All them EV haters never understand what a great car Mustang Mach E is. If you spend enough time in the EV car dealerships and try out all different EVs yourself, you then will appreciate Mach E for what it’s competing against. In the EV car market Tesla’s the toyota and Ford’s been catching up pretty well.
Mach E basically jumped every start, brake lights were out before her hands were down, Mustang GT waited for her hands to be completely down before leaving, while still making every race close if not a win. No replacement for good old V8 power in this race.
It's just because they aren't geared for top speeds. If they had a second gear like the Taycan or were geared for it like the Plaid then it's different. On the road, with speed limits, who cares?

At 1:31 you should add a section that says "Running costs per year" that includes gas/electricity, oil changes, blinker fluid (hihi) and stuff like that over 5 years. Because right now the Mustang Mach-E seems like a silly expensive car, but it's actually not, when you compare it over 5 years of ownership.

One sad thing about the clips, is that they often look out of sync. And from within the clips are often of poor quality, and do not seem to match the clips filmed from the outside. A little more realtime sync would have looked better.
I was street racing my buddy one time (in mexico). I have a FBO 11 WRX and he has a c6 with a couple of bolt ons. WRX (330whp) and vette (400whp). One of these came out of nowhere, lined up, and put a few cars on us until it we reeled it in at about 80 or 90. The acceleration is INSANE but power cuts off fast on these
We raced my 21 Mach e GT Performance Edition against my 21 Shelby GT500 at Tulsa dragway 38°C air temp 54°C track temp. Mach e GT won 1st race 12.64 vs Shelby 12.80 spun through 4th gear. Shelby ran a 12.03 and 11.71 and the mach e Gt also ran quicker each pass: 12.56 & 12.48. Mach e has 10.5" wheels 295 35 21s on the rear...
The noises coming from the exhaust on the yellow car are phenomenal. It was like a symphony. Damn if we all have electric cars, how boring, we regress back to everything in black and white.
Love to see a manual car drag race. Lotus evora GT (GT430), Porsche GT4 & GT3 + whatever else you can find… throwing in a f40 would be interesting. Comparing a old supercar to almost entry level sports cars.

The mach e gt only gives you full power for 5 or so seconds. Then goes into a normal mach e mode. That's why 487hp runs such a slow time. Their trap speeds are crap.

Would REALLY love to see this race re-ran with a '24 Mach-E GT with the optional Performance Enhancement. They now run 11's and the 5 second power limiter has been moved up to just past the 1/4 mile. My testing has produced 0-60 (w no rollout) in the 3.5 range, and 11.8-11.9@113-114 trap.

The mach-e gt should be in the mid-12 second range in the quarter. Something is off with this mach-e at 13.2. There's no mention of state of charge or which driving mode is used during the races.
You call that little HP from a big engine? Good joke. I own a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice with a 5 liter V8, which has 170 HP. Cadillac in the 1970s even had 8.2 liter V8 engines with just 190 HP. That's what i call little HP from a big engine.
Two things we can take from this: Either Ford are artificially nerfing the Mach e as not to embarras their Mustang GTs OR just goes to show how much further ahead Tesla is in battery, power management and motor tech. The answer is probably a bit of both!
Only because top speed is higher on the ICE. Mach E is limited and power reduced after 5 seconds on pedal. No way he was able to run track mode 3 times in a row.

It may not be a Mustang, but it's a pretty sweet EV. I'm over the name. I bought one. It's parked next to a 2020 GT/CS. And if I'm honest, it's way more fun for playing around town on the local roads than the gas GT. Less so on the highway. At first I missed the engine noise, but now I just think it's hilarious to smoke a Corvette from stoplight to stoplight in a CROSSOVER SUV without making a sound leaving them wondering wtf just happened.

That's called low-end torque Matt, and torque is important for accelleration. So that's totally normal that when the Mustang V8 shifts in higher gear. If you have a supercharged V8 or Twin-turbo/biturbo V8 would have even higher low-end torque, that's why those Mercedes, BMW and Audi TT V8s and V6s are so fast.

I'm just surprised the mach-e made it through 3 whole launches without completely shutting down and needing to be towed to the dealer.

You call that little HP from a big engine? Good joke. I own a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice with a 5 liter V8, which has 170 HP. Cadillac in the 1970s even had 8.2 liter V8 engines with just 190 HP. That's what i call little HP from a big engine.

For a naturally aspirated engine, 490hp is actually very good. Around 100hp per litre is more than satisfactory for a N/A engine.

Only because top speed is higher on the ICE. Mach E is limited and power reduced after 5 seconds on pedal. No way he was able to run track mode 3 times in a row.

It may not be a Mustang, but it's a pretty sweet EV. I'm over the name. I bought one. It's parked next to a 2020 GT/CS.
And if I'm honest, it's way more fun for playing around town on the local roads than the gas GT. Less so on the highway.
At first I missed the engine noise, but now I just think it's hilarious to smoke a Corvette from stoplight to stoplight in a CROSSOVER SUV without making a sound leaving them wondering wtf just happened.
This renewed my faith in petrol cars. 🤗

That's called low-end torque Matt, and torque is important for accelleration. So that's totally normal that when the Mustang V8 shifts in higher gear. If you have a supercharged V8 or Twin-turbo/biturbo V8 would have even higher low-end torque, that's why those Mercedes, BMW and Audi TT V8s and V6s are so fast.
