      Yea, right. If you say so then it must be SIMPLE! I'm writing notes pausing every few seconds and can't get all the components and systems sorted out. Makes me want to drill a damn hole in the filler tube and just force this over-complicated German mess to allow me to gas up.
      My big question is WHY don't my Fords and Toyotas have issues like my VW? How is it that theirs keep working while VW system is a nightmare. Half of ongoing discussions on Eurovan forum is how to fix this EVAP mess.

    great info for debugging a vw passat 1.8L /audi A4 ....OBDII fault code P0456 (*EVAP small leak exists) ...so checking a Vapor cannister purge valve, or a greyed out check valve, or fuel cap seal leak, or defective LDP in the drivers/passengers rear wheel well location.

    nice vid. i am having problems on my 1.8T. it idles super rough ONLY after fill-up. runs perfect all other times. i know it's not the purge valve because i have tested it separately and it opens and closes fully. i have the "incorrect flow" code which means my MAF and/or O2 sensors cannot sense the fuel vapors from the canister/fuel tank. I have no leak codes shown.
    can someone help with some input please? i dunno what it could be.

    • @yoadriaaannn
      @yoadriaaannn 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this may be a long shot, 6 years long LOL but...did you ever figure what the problem was? I am having exactly the same issue on my 2016 golf gti. No codes related to evap and it only idles rough after fill-up, of course it then throws misfire codes because of the rough idling.

    I took my gas cap seal off the cap and put a new chunky o ring in there. problem went away. I think the vw gas cap seal is engineered to fail.

      Incorrect flow is usually a purge valve problem.

    Exhaust Emissions Light always on in vw gti , due to this dodgy evap system, i have a vw gti and had to spend $800 just to get my evap emissions light switched off, got the charcoal canister replaced, purge 1 way valve replaced , N80 purge valve replaced...
    Due to this 'evap system'.
    Car was running as normal but emissions light was on until i got it fixed.

      A cheap way to resolve the problem is to remove the emissions led or bulb.

    I've paid hundreds of dollars to repair the MONITORING circuits on cars that had no leaks. Why add these expensive, complex, and failure prone systems to every car? Do the monitoring of emission control systems at the inspection stations and let owners drive their cars without being tormented by this stuff.

      Yes, we could settle for dirty air. I mean, how important is breathing? OR the complexity fetishists in Germany could learn to simplify their systems instead of building complexity on complexity. Question- how many Toyotas have these issues?

    Thanks for a nice public service, but I am sorry I own my Passat, truthfully, because it is so over-engineered, the owner is forced through the inherent complexity of all its systems, to return to the dealer and bend over for a good pile driving. It was designed to require dealer involvement often, and they are merciless in their charges for parts and labor. I am going Japanese or Korean or USA from this point on.

    The most unnecessary system on a car. All you need is a "cat" & the rest is overkill that cost citizens a ton of $$. Most of the $$ spent by consumers on car repairs have nothing to do with the automobiles ability to function as a transporting machine.
