This is probably pointless to point out... but RIP Stands for Rest In Peace. so you said Rest in Peace in peas... lol Broke my brain a bit when I read that.
fun fact about the lore books: the loud ass sound they make when you read one for the first time plays in the world, not just for the person doing it. So in multiplayer people nearby will hear the sound of you learning when you open a new book
Yup, accidental pit kiln fires are a fun surprise. I remember another TH-camr who set up camp in the middle of a peat field, but didn't know what peat was. Started his first pit kiln, and the entire landscape burst into flame and burned down to the rock level. :D Don't bother planting anything until the weather gets above freezing: even crops that can survive colder temperatures won't actually grow unless it's above the freezing point, they'll just sit there until it warms up. If your flax gets stunted by the cold, still let it mature; if you try to harvest immature plants you're not guaranteed to get a seed back (even if you're not a Blackguard). Only break them if the plant actually dies off completely.
That's actually amazing that a peat fire can happen 😭 very good to know about crops, I definitely could have squeezed a bit more grow time out of them if I'd waited a few more days..
Stand outside during a harsh temporal storm and increase your render distance, hopefully you'll get a visit from Dave. I thought for sure you'd see him with that severe storm in the video. The horrors of this game are wonderful
This is the best Vintage Story playthrough video series I've seen. Perfect mix between experienced gamer, new to the game, and amazing editing so it's always interesting/exciting.
I started playing a week ago and i found 2 ways to kill bears and wolfs that are super easy. One is build a little pillar that you can stand on and than just destroy the blocks under it, the bear has nothing to grab to climb on and cant reach you. Second option is 3 blocks deep water, you just dive under the animal and it cant hit you, and they can not dive so you are safe under them. After that its just keep your distance under the water and swim away if you need to get air. The water method if good because you can use a sword and just own them. Also an easy way to live thro a temporal storm is to close yourself into a 1x1 box of dirt and just wait it out, drifters cant spawn on the same block you are standing on, so just wait it out and once its done go out kill the ones that did spawn.
TimmyTwoNipples: builds a really intricate build with multiple floors and multiple chiseling jobs that took hours me: contempt with living in a dirt hut for a long while.
Listen dirt huts are effective! I love a good dirt hut/cave hide hole, leaves extra time for completing survival related things that are actually import to survival games lol
I don't think there are any 12 step programs for chiseling... Have to grit your teeth and cold turkey it or embrace the addiction fully. My money is on the latter.
Iron isn't the only thing that you can process in the bloomeries. You need power to set up automating turning iron blooms into ingots. That will help save your hammer durability.
Heads up, you're probably going to need a lot more farming space than that, lol. Especially because crop rotation is a thing in this game so you need to rotate between crops with different nutrient needs. Also, filling up those different nutrient bars in the character tab gives bonuses to your stats depending on how full they are, it's good to eat a varied diet.
Okay so THAT'S why my flax just stopped growing on the second/third re plant! I'll definitely make a bunch more farm land for next spring.. new years resolution I promise 🤞
17:32 what you just did was cut down a pear tree... Fruit trees in this game can be grown from cuttings and need a season of dormancy to bear fruit. Pears and apples are one of the best fruit sources in the game, since they provide 80 saturation per fruit and last 40 days without any other factors, which means you can store them for over a year. If you had left a single stump of that tree, it could still have grown leaves that carried fruit btw. Fruit trees are quite uncommon, so you should have a lookout for them. They are pretty obvious to spot when they're in bloom around late April and early May.
Small tip, if you press X whatever is in your of hand (torch usually) will instantly go to the slot you have currently selected in your hotbar. It took me a month of playing before I used this, would like to save you the trouble. Thanks for the great content!
fun lore fact: the drifters, while they look somewhat human-like, actually have linen skin and metal bones. and no organs either also, yeah, bells are a pain. their call actually draws more drifters and these other enemies called locusts to the bell's location. oh, and some useful info regarding ores: most ores only generate in a few rock types, or have a few rock types they don't generate in. you can see what ores a rock can have in it in the handbook on that rock, and what rocks a specific ore can occur in by looking at that ore in the handbook. ores also have different qualities as you've likely figured out, and different rock types can have different maximum qualities for the same ore - for example, the best rock for hematite (one of three ores for iron) is either granite or peridotite, as it can generate in bountiful quality there.
Veryyy interesting! The drifter lore is both very cool and very disturbing, but I love that about this game lol I'll keep an eye out for the different rock-ore combos! Thank you :)
MORE TIMMYTWONIPPLES VINTAGE STORY 🎉🎉🎉 always a great day to see another upload man. haven’t even finished the episode yet i’m just excited. can’t wait to see what lies beneath in that cave
I absolutely love your videos! I'm not that experienced in the game, but I think you're totally ready for an armor upgrade aswell, since you're planning on going to the mines
Now that you have iron you should try making some metal armor. For your playstyle i think you should go with chain since you do a mix of range and melee
personally, I like using the Clockmaker class. one of their features is that they can actually tame locusts (like the weird mechanical crawling thing you encountered in the mines) - only one at a time, though, and the thing needed to do so is kind of expensive to craft. also kinda flimsy in hand-to-hand combat against anything that isn't a machine.
Been following the vintage story series for the a long while now!! Always excited to see you experience the game!! Actually hilarious to see the typical VS experience LOL A rift spawning in the most inconvenient spots always LOL
I have the seed up on my community page but sadly I don't think it works with the new update, I've tried to load into it to record my valley pre base build but I can't seem to get it to work :(
Piece of advice. Other than the black guard shield, bronze shields are the best shields in the game so far in terms of protection. More expensive material shields are not worth making as they only add durability and no extra protection
Love this series.

It's like sneaking up behind someone and blowing an air horn into there ear, love it lmao 😂

Where do I find the record player equivalent? Does a trader sell it? Gotta pump the tunes 🎶🎵
@@TimmyTwoNipples you can either make them or you can find them in trader wagens(i've forgotten the name so sorry about that)

First time encountering the Bell was terrifying, top 3 scary noises in games for sure!
It's so unsettling, I love the insane sounds in this game!
I really love this series! So glad I've finally found a vintage story TH-camr who's great at building!
Welcome aboard, more building on the way! :)

Nice art btw, well worth it

Definitely a good startle 😭
Ey timmy , At minute 20:26 you can see terra preta, is the best type of soil for planting
@@Dark__Thoughts You don't need it for the recipe. Using it does double the output, though.
Ooh thankya! I think that's very close to my base, I'll dig it up during winter two and get it going for the spring!! :)

Armour is definitely something I plan on forging up next winter! I started mid summer and realized how long it would take so I held off lol
my man reaches bedrock and is just like, how do I break through this? Ima check the handbook real quick, kek
Might be mistaken, but the black stuff you hammer off the iron ingots as you form them is called slag
That bell was so creepy! AC/DC fans would love it!
For anyone wondering what the bell does, it summons more monsters and needs to be destroyed asap!
THE PAIN OF THE ADULT FRUIT TREE BEING CUT DOWN
IKR, HE COULD HAVE HAD PEARS, THEY'RE ONE OF THE BEST FRUIT IN THE GAME 😭
I've learned my lesson, no pear tree shall be felled from this day forward 🍐
