We just hit 100,000 views on this video. Thank you guys so much, I'm beyond grateful and honestly surprised how quickly you all made it happen! I'm hard at work for a new Anno video that should hopefully be out soon :) Thanks again!
I dont know why algorithm suggest this video because i never watch any Anno 1800 related video, but im glad it did. And now i must play Anno 1800 again.
I think it's still on the spirit of the challenge to settle a second tiny island in a different region. we can just say you got silver instead of gold in the challenge. but one should wonder if fishing for the extremely rare item is worth the trouble just for the challenge.
Yeah, if the item is theoretically obtainable but just absurdly rare/time consuming(like to an absurd degree) to obtain, a bypass should be allowed. In theory, what is being asked is "CAN YOU". And yeah, if you get the item you can.
Great video production quality - great and refined script, clear audio, nice editing, amazing explanation of Anno mechanics. I can feel that your channel will grou fast with videos like this. Wish you the best of luck
I wished there was a scenario that let you just play as a single ship privateer and try to make money just from trading. No city building, just based out of a pirate island and either trade or pirate other ships to make coin. And use the coin to upgrade your ship or buy a bigger ship. I think it would be fun. This 1 tiny island challenge feels as close as I'm going to get to that idea, so I'll try it out. Thanks!
Yeah that's a really good idea! I've had something similar planned to just have a pirate cove and rely only on plunder and trade. Might make a video on it :)
Just downloaded Anno 1800 today for a little replay and the algorithm sends me this gem. Very cool idea! I really hope there will be a second part with one island per region, as multiple others proposed.
I honestly would like to see the same challenge but you allow yourself one island per region. It'd be technically easier but it could be entertaining Or do it again but on a medium island, with war ?
One island challenges are always my favourite. They were also a great way for me to learn all the mechanics for future playthroughs. Great video, fun to watch! :)
An innovative challenge and a beautifully executed video production. It's so fascinating to what extent the game relies on the Bruno-Dario-Docklands engine if you want to achieve something extreme.
Actually shocked to see you on 300 subs. Never would I have imagined that after this video. Imo very well made and I enjoyed your challenge the entire way through. Looking forward to seeing more creative challenges like this one!
High quality video with fun comedy and good explanation of the chains/mechanics. Quite surprised for an anno video get this view, especially from your other videos. So keep up the good work! Looking forward to the next challange.
@@GodofLife165 thanks a lot :) Yeah my other videos were more just guides and for practicing the video editing software. This was my first "real" video :D

Excellently executed, you got me thinking of other ways to go about completing this challenge. Engineer and Investor skyscrapers of the same level confer +1 to panorama effect to each other, instead of the usual -1. Since level 1 skyscrapers only detect the buildings directly across and not diagonally, you can build Engineers and Investors in a checkerboard pattern, so that each building only detects a skyscraper of the other population type. This results in a max level panorama for all of your buildings, bringing the Investor towers to a whooping 200 residents, instead of the normal 75, which will save you a LOT of space and resources (both to build and to feed them) and you wont even need to supply chewing gum. Local Mail from a Post Office is something else that can provide a small population boost for all tiers without much expenditure (you can buy Aluminium Profiles from Isabella). I was also thinking that Jorg von Malching can be obtained from the research institute, but that still requires you to settle an extra island in Enbessa and have 300 Elders. To unlock the needed research cap of 20k points, you'd need 44 Scholar Residences with 53 residents each, if you only supply them with University, Electricity, Canned Food and Local Mail. This can be reduced a little bit by supplying Saltpetre, but that's really annoying to get.
I liked the video, thank you for making it. I liked the cut, although sometimes the progress jumps and island layout were a bit hard to follow, with hard cuts and sudden perspective changes on fast changing scenes, which is understandable for an 8+hour raw footage video compressed in under one hour. I enjoyed the memes, but some where a bit long for the pace of the content surrounding it (best example ‘power puff’ edit was solid tho+). I really enjoyed the voice over; I think it was done extremely well. I really got hooked upon the mix of fun, seriousness and explanations all entered at the right time, not too much, not to little. I think you have a lot of potential on here. If you’d like an idea for a challenge, maybe go for a: small/tiny island run no docklands no items (except for on ships and crops) an unsymmetrical map, Hard Pirats in both worlds, Beryl O’mara, Carl Leonard von Malching & Georg Smith, all other npc traders all happiness fulfillment need to be fulfilled minimal build (no massive overproduction except for when you want to sell the items in your port or directly to npcs, so the perfect balance between workers and requirements) charter only for trade lines That should be enough stress for our entertainment :D just an idea though, I bet the other comments have a lot of good ones too.
@@matzel9514 Thank you so much for the feedback! Yes I agree about some of the cuts being a bit awkward, it was tough finding the relevant clips of the subject while also being visually clear since I did the voice over after recording. It had also slipped my mind during the playthrough that you can save camera positions in the game, it would've definitely helped with a montage or finding good angles to show progress better. I did sort of wing the playthrough, but I learned A LOT about how to capture better footage for b-roll etc. This is just the beginning and it will only get better from here! And thank you for the suggestions :D

I figured at the beginning you would have to need at least 1 foreign port, OIL baby if you aint got it you aint moving forward. Great Video you got a sub
That reminds me a bit of Anno 2070's mission "power games". There you were practically also confined to one island (albeit with a size of your choice) as any ship you would sail would immediately get destroyed by Keto the head hunter's ships. So you had to stay on your island and build enough planes there to destroy Keto, while you had to defend against Strindberg's air strikes (or pay him off if you can get an economy running with only one island).
