    I put my fake skin (reel skin) on an arm rest to help feel the vibration and to feel more real. Plus it helps the back out. Thanks for all your videos. Self taught tattoo guy here too. It's been fun

    printing it out first was the best tip i’ve ever learned! i always draw portraits but never tattooed on this just changed everything
    for me

    Honestly the best advice I’ve heard! I’m just getting into the world of portraits from doing traditional tattoos mainly! I always get confused on how to map out my stencil, I always think do I stencil the highlights, dark tones or both. I think I’m over thinking it, but this video has helped so much!

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I deff understand what your talking about as when I started making detailed stencils I also was unsure if I wanted to detail the darks the lights or both. Now I just realized that I need to detail or stencil the parts of piece that will help me render it in the end. Its just a road map and everyone may have a slightly different one. Glad the video helped you Ellie and I wish you the best as you start to get into Portraits!! You got this and Keep Rocking!!🤘

    That bleach trick is amazing! I have the cheaper 3mm thick fake skin that I couldn't get the stencil off so I thought they were a lost cause. Once I recieved my Reelskin in the mail & saw the bleach remedy on the instructions, I soaked all the fake skins I tattooed that the stencil was still visible & the ones I changed my mind & couldn't get the stencil off- 24 hours & the stencil just goes away!

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah man it is a life saver cause we always want that stencil to stick solid but when its done we also need it to go away lol. Thanks for the support Graffics and glad to hear your skins are now stencil free! 🤘🙏

    Great! You just tell the same experience i have made. Sometimes its really funny when u finished just 1/3 and think ''wow that will take so long'', and suddenly realise u just finished. Im thankful for the tip to practise on paper first!

    That’s solid dude, I like how you showed the process of printing the exact same stencil you used for the fake skin on the paper to do the practise first, great work. The hair always looks so annoying to do, well and truly not looking forward to doing it when I get around to it lol.. looking forward to more 🤙🏼🤓👍🏼 🇦🇺

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Craig really appreciate that man! 🙏 And yeah printing the stencil on paper first and practicing it makes a huge difference in the final result as you really get to know the stencil before applying it to fake skin or skin. My friend wants me to tattoo a black & grey portrait of his English bulldog on him- I've been practicing for about a year and a half & I've tattooed his pup on reelskin a few times but because the ink doesn't heal on reelskin, it comes out too dark even using one drop so I'm nervous to tattoo him. It'll be my first tattoo on someone so I think I should just go for it & trust the greywash system.
    I'm glad you mentioned it in the video how even the one drop is too dark on fake skin. I think I'm going to tattoo the shades on my leg so I know exactly how they'll look healed. A living reference chart! Until I am dead of course. Then I won't be able to use it anymore. Well, maybe.

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think its awesome that you already practiced it a few times on fake skin. I wish you the best of luck brother! If you feel confident then go for it man I know you will come out of it learning a LOT. And as I know its great to have a healed reference of what your washes will look like. I hope you kill it bro! 🤘

    What voltage were you running? More detail means lower voltage for slower hand speed... Correct?

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I was around 8 volts for this tattoo. And more detail doesnt exactly mean slower hand speed and les voltage. It means each mark you make matters even more then usual so take your time and make sure each mark is the best you can do and is in the correct spot. Sometimes we can get in a rush or at least I know I can as I really want to get to the end cause I want to see the finished piece but in most cases like this its best to just take your time and let it work itself out. Yeah man thats the one I use. I just went and double checked it to confirm it. I like the arm rest it works for me and is pretty sturdy as well. Best of luck to you brother as you get ready to do your first tattoo. 🤘🤘

    Do you soak faks skin in water or some solution? Greetings from Poland 🤘🏻

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No I dont soak them in anything. I use some Isopropyl alcohol to clean the skins first then let dry and apply the stencil. Once im done with the tattoo I then soak the skin in Bleach over night to get the stencil to go away. Thank you for the support from Poland Dominik!!🤘🙏🤘

    Hey bro! Is there a certain method behind adding white highlights? Do you do it over black or not? That’s one thing I’m struggling a bit to understand

    Is it possible to be a "tattoo artist" without being an "artist"? Basically can you be good tattoo artist and not be good at drawing?

    • @flatbedtruckertmc
      @flatbedtruckertmc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome job by the way. This question has absolutely nothing to do with your talent.

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I suppose you can. Im not one to discourage people from trying new things or tattooing for that matter as long as they are being safe with it. With that said you will have a MUCH harder time finding your way in tattooing if you dont know how to draw or understand shading and what have you. Because once you learn "how" to tattoo then the art ability has to come through in order to really get anywhere. I would heavily encourage you to start drawing before you spend the time and money on all the equipment. With TH-cam you can learn so much as there are MANY videos that will help you learn to draw and shade and what not. DEFF take the time to study and learn that side first cause if your serious about wanting to tattoo then this would be step one. Hope this helps answer your question Brian and thank you for asking the question. 🤘🤘

    I put my fake skin (reel skin) on an arm rest to help feel the vibration and to feel more real. Plus it helps the back out. Thanks for all your videos. Self taught tattoo guy here too. It's been fun
