  • Today's Tattoo tutorial we will be going over HOW TO TATTOO REALISM. This will be part one as we will go into this subject of tattooing realism more as we progress. In today's video I will be working on a black and gray piece while sharing what it is I am doing along with the needles, and voltages that I am running. We will go over when to line and when to shade, depending upon the desired look you are going for. At times I will whip shade, pepper shade and even some soft stippling. Again we will be covering more like this as we progress .🤘🤘
I used a 3tight RL, 11tight curved mag bugpin, and a 23right curved mag bugpin.
Hope you all enjoyed the video and if you did give it up a thumbs up and consider subscribing!!
I like to remind people that In no way am I a fantastic tattoo artist guys. I just love tattooing but I am still on my journey and want to show you how its done so you can do it and do it better then me!! 🤘
So don't give up if you want it bad enough its yours for the taking!

Hey dude loved the video, I just have a question on a past video of yours showing off the pulling line on paper technique as a way to practice. I was just wondering if a brush marker would work or would it perhaps be too flexible?
Keep up the great work my man!

I'm a beginner and your videos have helped me so much! I'm so glad you posted this particular video, because I'm working on a similar piece - It's a skull with green eyes. I was kind of nervous about it, but your teachings and advice gives me a little more guidance to what it is I'm doing and more confidence to be able to knock it out. How long do you wait to do the second session? 2 weeks?

Mate, you have been a godsend for me to watch, I'm crap with reading stuff I need to be shown 😂 so far so good, concentrating on line work and iddybiddy shading. I've been drawing portraits for years and got that down and figured I needed a new hobby, I'd love to be able to do what I do but on skin. Defo a learning curve when you have been used to pencil and charcoal. Keep doing what your doing!! 🤘

Thank you soo much King!! 🙏 And yeah I never used 3rls much either for a long time. But I later found that they work great for those really small details. I think the best thing for a tattoo is high contrast so dont be afraid to go dark when needed. And Keep Rocking brother!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Can you do a video on an essential needles inventory for beginners? I'm just starting out and got some needles in the kit. But I'm confused about what other needles to get in terms of mags and their sizes or round shaders or bugpins; and don't have a whole lot of money to invest in a lot of needles some of which I'll probably never use.
    Thanks for the amazing content.

I would love to hear what the voltage difference actually does as the only variable. i.e, your hand speed and needle are the same. What does the voltage do higher and lower?
I assume it’s speed but what is the result? I think of it like aperture, ISO, and shutter speed for a camera. They all work in tandem but sometimes it’s better to use one more heavily than the other for certain scenarios.

How to approach tattoo lettering - if the client wishes a specific font, when you yourself choose a font, and when you throw in freehand lettering in flash art and so on. Great question not dumb at all. The answer is no you dont need a new cart every time you switch them out. You just set the cart you took off on your work area and put the cart you want into the machine. When you want to switch back you just put the cart from the machine onto your work area and grab the other cart and put it back in.
