- Way back in 1996, Naughty Dog created Crash Bandicoot, an unofficial mascot of the Sony Playstation. In the 21 years since that original game, there has only been a handful of sequels in the franchise, and Crash has been passed around from developer to developer. How much has Crash changed since then?

I'm almost positive Crash 1 has a different model from 2 and 3.

He mentioned in the video how the designer didn't remember any significant improvements over the model from 1 to 2, so maybe it just wasn't different enough to point out.
I know, that's why I was unsure at first. I'm not sure why he said that, but if you compare the Crash 1 model to the 2/3 model, it's clearly pretty different.

He probably didn't forget the games and wasn't able to acquire the models for those games
CTR probably used the same model from Crash 1, 2 and 3, hence why he wouldn't bother to talk about that one.
You have to make a new episode with the new Mario model from Super Mario Odyssey, the new Sonic model from Sonic Forces and the new Crash model from the remakes when those games come out

You've made me discover a bunch of interesting things about games that I never knew and never would have known. So please, keep making these!!!
The original crash model actually looks near perfect.

I'm really late to comment, but it's 2018 and he hasn't did another Low Poly with Crash N Sane Trilogy out, I would also think it would be nice if he did a Low Poly episode on Luigi.

Miles Away sorry mate, the 1st crash model was taller or thinner. Less texture. Also Im 80% sure on or in the CD case it actually says new models
He talked about it, but he said that it still had the same base model, just a few tweaks and such.

There were very obvious differences between the models between the first one and the other two. It annoys me that he just says "There may have been some improvements" and didn't even bother to look at a picture of the next model. He just left it at "This is the model that was used in all three games" when it was only used in one.
Thank you for making this series! There are so many iconic characters you can do for future videos! Ratchet and clank, Spyro, Master Chief just to name a few :)

Wouldn't Master Chief be a PC mascot that was adopted by the Xbox? And the official Xbox mascot wouldn't be Gears of Wars main character (forgot his name)?
During development, Chief wasn't the mascot of anything. Once Halo hit the Xbox, is when it came into its own. Funnily enough, Microsoft never intended the Chief to be their mascot. If you remember a little title for the original Xbox called Blinx the Timesweeper, THAT was Microsoft's "answer" to the cutesy characters of Sega, Nintendo, and Sony. As you can see by the absolute multitude of games that came out for Blinx [sarcasm], Blinx didn't do so well. Halo however, took off, with Halo 2 cementing Chief as the Xbox's (at the time) unofficial mascot

I don’t know why I love this series so much, but I really do! It sure takes a lot of skill to make something like this so interesting! Maybe I’m just a nerd, but I prefer to give the credit to you :)
Great video as always, but I personally suggest you redoing it. You have missed multiple Crash models/games such as; Crash 2 and 3 (they are a different model compared to the one from Crash Bandicoot), Crash Team Racing, Crash Bash, Crash Nitro Kart and Skylanders Imaginators.

You dropped the ball on this one. Crash 2 and 3 do have different models. You didn't mention CTR, Crash Bash or Crash Nitro Kart, all of which have different models as well.
There's next to no research going into this series, not surprised it didn't continue

This was a good episode, but too short compared to the previous two. You missed CB2/3 model, which is sightly different from the first one. I understand you didn't mention CTR or CNK models since they're fused to the vehicle, but you missed Crash Bash model.
I hope you make a Metal Gear episode in the future. Even though is not the same Snake in all games, they are al Snakes, so technically a comparison between those models wouldn't be that weird. I hope you also mention the PSP games models, since in Portable Ops Plus you have Naked Snake and a low poly Old Snake, which I'd love to see compared to the PS3 Old Snake.
I guess getting those models must be pretty hard, but you're doing an amazing work, so I will wait to see what's next on Low Poly :D
Lucho's Factory there actually is a model of crash in CNK where he is separated from the car like the model that is on the stage when you win a race.
He's doing the world a favor by not showing us The Crash Bash Model
Crash Nitro Cart, Crash Bash and Crash Team Racing, (Separate game from Crash Tagteam Racing). Some games with 3D models were forgotten about.
In those games (except for bash) the model wasn't of Crash per se, it was of a car

The old models have to be pretty hard to get

-Skips Crash 2/3/CTR, Bash, Nitro Kart, Boom Bang, Titans DS, MOM DS, and Skylanders Imaginators models
Actually, the first crash model was used in crash 2 and Warped
And the DS might not be in 3D so no Boom Bang, Titans DS, and Mind over Mutant DS.
-The original Crash model WAS used in 2 & Warped, yes. But only for the recycled burning animation from the first game. I can't actually remember but I feel like it was used for some other instances that do not come to memory right now.
-All three of those DS games use 3D models genius :V

Oh my god, crash was my childhood!!!! Whenever my dad was willing to unplug the wii and plug in the old chunky PS2, we’d play mind over mutant and the racing game (lol I forget already) and it was the second best thing in the world for me!! (First would’ve been skylanders) thanks for doing this episode, even though I’m really late. I get A lot of nostalgia feels coming from this video!!

I've been working through this series today and really enjoy it, but I can't help but feel like (and I place no real blame on you) it would have been so much cooler had it been done a year later.
4 episodes in and I just keep wanting to see the PS4/Xbox One/Switch models of these characters. I'm guessing most have solidly 5-figure poly counts now and I'd love to see the evolution.

Kirby would actually be really cool. Comparing his model between all 4 Smash games, there's been a surprising amount of development for such a simple design. It'd also be cool to see more about the capabilities of the 3DS via his Triple Deluxe/Planet Robobot model.

Wrath of Cortex was actually the very 1st Crash Bandicoot game I ever played as a child, and I owned the XBOX version by Traveler's Tales. I never beat the game even to this day, however I still have fond memories of the game nonetheless.

Maaaan. This takes me back. Wrath of Cortex was THE FIRST 3D Game I played. I remember renting a PS2 and Wrath constantly. The place I rented the PS2 from became a Toys R Us, and we all know what happened to them. Have not beaten that game yet, haven't gotten closer since, but I will always feel nostalgia for Crash.

I slowed down the video to 25% speed to calculate how fast the model spins. The answer is 4 revolutions per second, or 240 rpm.

My favourite crash design is twinsanity.
It's probably because in the cutsences the model really helps and makes him look like your favourite neighbourhood crash

eh? the way it works is more the evolution of a single character from their first 3d appearance. since GTA has different playable characters each game, it wouldn't really work for the series

As a animator the story about animating Crash by moving vertexes around boggles my mind.... especially considering the results they got. I remember distinctively that Crash was one of the few games which animation stood out to me as a kid.
