Love your blue sweater. I think either sleeve length would be lovely. Maybe the longer length you could wear longer. The embroidery pieces are so cute. How fun!!
Hello Beth, Greetings from sunny Laval, Québec! Glad to be able to spend time with you again as I'm knitting on the Florencia Tee. That's Noëlle's fault for mentionning the KAL held by EweKnit Toronto and by her own podcast; Knits'n'Pieces. Just wanted to let you know that your tangents are glorious! And you always manage to get back on track. Me...not so much! I find it very interesting that you work with a population of hearing impaired students. Does that entail using sign language ? When I did my stage ( I guess it translates to my internship), during my bachelor's degree, I had the privilege to give classes to high school deaf students and so for three semesters, I got to learn LSQ (Langue des signes du Québec) - the French Canadian version to ASL - in order to be able to communicate. It was so fascinating and challenging at the same time. Yikes! You knit socks to your son's girlfriend? I have two sons, and I'm not allowed to knit their girlfriend's socks anymore. It's like the curse of the boyfriend sweater! So I have to restrain myself to other articles of clothing, like mittens, or cowls. One of my son's former girlfriend even gained custody of all of his knitted socks. "Things become part of the scenery when they've been there for a while" 😂😂 You mean like dirty socks or underwear on the bathroom floor? I swear, when my sons were living at home, if I didn't nag for them to pick them up, there would have been fourteen pairs of socks and underwear on the floor at the end of the week! Having said that, I know exactly what you mean and I tend to become blind to my own WIPs when they have been languishing for a while. So I start a new project, because it's always more exciting to start something than to finish it 😳 Thank you again for putting it out there...I'm listening and taking notes!😜 Bonne rentrée! (Great time with your back to school)
Merci, Isabelle! That Florencia tee had me thinking about it, but I don't have the capacity to finish another warm weather thing before it's too cold to wear it. Your stories about your boys had me cracking up. It's great to have you along for the ride with my tangents. Thanks for watching!
Your tangents are entertaining! And educational - I would not have expected an unclaimed item auction at the state fair. We still have an Express clothing store at our mall. I like to think that it wasn’t all that long ago I was one of their customers. Your Lionshead Tee is coming along so well, and I will look forward to seeing your La Prairie cardigan for Joji’s KAL. 😊
P.S. Nerd alert! 🤓 My knitting pace is somewhere around 35 stitches per minute in stockinette, so if I were to really get into a groove I could conceivably knit 2000+ stitches in an hour. (35 stitches x 60 minutes = 2,100 stitches) If I knit a sock with 64 stitches and about 160 rounds, for sake of simplicity let’s say it ends up being 10,000 stitches. Math says I could finish one sock in 5 hours. In practice, I think it takes me about twice that. The leg and the foot go fast, but the cuff and heel and toe slow me down. I meant to time myself during Shark Week, but I messed up my timer halfway through and gave it up. Someday…
I love that nerd moment! I have a spreadsheet that I started awhile ago where I timed myself with different kinds of knitting (stockinette, ribbing, cables, etc.). What I've come to realize is that I only knit as fast as my spreadsheet says when I'm timing myself. When I knit regularly, life happens around it (bathroom, food, phone, etc.). You're definitely faster than I am. My best times add up to about 1000 per hour, but I don't think I ever only timed myself for a minute, because I knew that wouldn't reflect my everyday pace. New challenge for me!
@@pandemicknitter I agree - it would be more accurate to see how many stitches I can knit in 30 minutes and figure out my average. But that is a lot more counting! This morning I knit 2 rounds and purled 1 round on my Starflanket in 70 minutes, so that averaged out to 22.6 stitches per minute.
Fellow baton twirler!! But it has been years for me since I have had my hands on a real baton. Hand me a stick or bar that is close to the right length, and I am right back at it! Congrats on the well deserved laptop. Enjoy.
I did finish the red color work sweater and also made a grey one in the same pattern. I don’t know how to send photos to you ,but they are patterns by Jessica McDonald designs. Called My Fletching. She has beautiful patterns.
I love your darling embroidered blocks. They would be great framed or even put into a quilted wall hanging. Your lions head tee is looking great. What length sleeve would you wear throughout the year? I have my yarn for the Rena. Ive been practicing crocheting. Once I get 2 lrohects off the needles I'm going to get started.
Thanks, Wendy! I think I'm going with the shorter sleeve on the Lionshead. You make a good point that it can be worn throughout the year. I probably would wear it more with a long-sleeved shirt with the shorter sleeves. I'm so excited to see how your Rena works out!
Huh, oh. I'm feeling guilty now for having asked you to give up one of your skeins of the Willow Tweed yarn. I haven't had to use it yet so if you need to have it back, let me know. Another entertaining podcast. I pretty sure I've finished less projects than you, but it would be too disheartening to count. I do a lot of procrastinating about what to start and finish next.
Ok, it’s me again. I started a summer sweater with a circular yoke. I got to the line ( begin working from chart.) not reading beyond that. I knitted the entire chart and ended with a huge yoke. I then went back to the directions and saw that I was only supposed to knit to the 38th line. There were 62 lines on the chart. I just ripped it all out and started over. I have now reached the sleeve division. 😅
I really look forward to seeing you. Perhaps every other week? I know you are a dedicated teacher.
Possibly!
Fiber Fans, Friends, and Followers ? Blessings as you begin your school year. Wish my cross stitching were half as good. Nice discovery.
I like that, Stephanie! I might have to use it. Thanks for the well wishes.
This is a great one, Stephanie! I was struggling to come up with F words. Except one. 😂
Your handwork from earlier days would make cute little pillows.
Good idea!
Love your blue sweater. I think either sleeve length would be lovely. Maybe the longer length you could wear longer. The embroidery pieces are so cute. How fun!!
Thanks, Peggy!
Hey - I used to work in a school with Deaf & Hard of Hearing kids!
SHARK WEEK was so much fun. I can’t wait to do it again!
I love the work I do. I get to play with the kids, and tge teachers get to deal with their parents and administration.
Also, everyone needs a Bouncing Pickles!!
Who doesn't? 😆

Yes! Cast on and you'll be ahead of me. 😅

You twirl too?! Next retreat, we're doing a duet. I'll bring the batons.
@@pandemicknitter OK, but I am pretty out of practice. I can definitely do the routine to my high school fight song!
I think the longer sleeve looks better.
Thanks for weighing in. I was thinking about putting a vote out there on social media.

No worries, Janet. I have more than enough now. You need to cast on! 😉

Ripping out is so heartbreaking, isn't it? It's a good thing you like knitting. Now you get to do it again. 😉
@@pandemicknitter only better this time. Just want to get it done so I can move on to the next sweater. School starts on Wednesday the 23rd here.
