Yes 👍 Laos people are so very grateful for your kindness and support and put in the truth about Laos 🇱🇦 as Laos people would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to thank you for 🙏please comeback . You are the most welcome and hope to see your videos about Laos again soon!!❤🙏👏👍
$37.50 for a two-hour train journey. Not cheap.
Cheap and very fast. I like Chinese! And a number 18 off the menu!
Exactly. A 2.5 hour bus ride from Bangkok to Pattaya is only $4.
Comfort level = Next level. Stress level = Zero level
kinda stiff...and there were plenty people around who must have paid close to it,, since eddys ticket factored in the trip from hotel to train station as well
Cheap enough for me, I’ll be going for a couple months soon. The equivalent over here for a slightly shorter journey is $95
I was in laos 2 weeks ago and i found the people to be happy and very helpful.Hotel staff were awesome.
Helĺo Eddy, i am Daniel. I have lived in Laos for 20 years. Glaď you èñjoyed yòur trip. Salt of the earth people. Stay weĺl steady Ed
Cool, thanks
Spot on mate !
Land of a million irrelevants ... errh ... elephants.
You really should keep up a daily shaving routine mate. Consider your eyebrows too.
Thanks for the tour of Laos Eddie, you have convinced me, it’s looks well worth a visit. Cheers mate 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Sold! I'll squeeze in a few days during my next visit to Thailand. Thanks for the report, Eddy.
Excellent insight to travel. Thanks for this we appreciate your thoughts
Glad it was helpful! Thankyou
Great video Ed. Would love to take that trip myself.
Thanks for the video .
Eddy getting in to the culture
Beer Lao is the only culture you need.
Great video. Extremely informative. You are doing a great job! Regards.
Thank you very much!
Very good Eddie. Cheers.
That was a sincere and informed presentation. Thank you for bringing us along. I am also impressed.
Glad you enjoyed it!
that's why China does things like that for other Asian countries they are slowly but surely getting most of Asia in debt to them so when they want to move in or want a favour there will be no objection
Previous all laos export rely on Thailand seaport. The railway is laos version of de-risking
sounds like western imf, world bank to me, america ring a bell?
That's been going on for decades.
Poor Eddy didn't even notice the hydro dam being constructed to strangle the Mekong all the way through to Cambodia (also owned by China now)
@@jefflintonif they didn't build hydro damn, you blokes would be paying 4x more for hotel bills, cause all electricity will still be high.
Looks like that chicken baguette and the beer went down a right treat after your train and taxi journey! Cheers Eddy, appreciate your views about Laos.
Thanks, Scott
Great vlog Ed
Thanks 👍
Great info mate thank you bud
Thanks, mate
Good, straightforward video, Eddy! Now time to settle into that condo
Can't wait!
Thank you. I enjoyed this and the length of the video was good
Awesome, thank you!
Well thought out review.
Thankyou
hey eddie great analysis and guidance , lets have some more , take it easy see you on the next one
Much appreciated
Never been but it's now on my list to do thanks eddy
I think everyone will go there soon because of cheaper than other Asia countries
Beautiful Mate
Hi Eddy,
I get the impression that you haven’t been to Switzerland yet. I have visited the country many times, and honestly it’s the most beautiful and picturesque country I’ve ever visited. The landscapes are amazing, and the little villages and towns in the mountains are so charming, and there are also the beautiful lakes and rivers with water so clear you can drink it.
It’s an expensive country which is the only downside of it, but I think it should be on everyone’s bucket list to visit at least once. Honestly you haven’t seen beautiful mountains until you see the Swiss mountains. I know you said you never going back to the UK, but you should definitely at least once go to Switzerland and tick it off. Life is once, why not.
Yes Switzerland has amazing mountains, but Nepal with the highest mountains in the world is closer to S.E Asia and certainly is a lot cheaper 😊
If you want natural beauty, go to Norway.
I've driven through and stopped off briefly in Switzerland. Looks amazing.
I was gunna say the same, Switzerland is pristine, clean, neat n tidy landscapes, hills, etc. If they give the hills in laos a trim, they still wouldn't come close
Switzerland is beautiful but incredibly expensive and its nightlife, food and weather can't compare to SE Asia. It's also landlocked and its political neutrality has been gutless at times, historically.
You maded me think of going back to this beautiful country again ❤
I liked it better this time than the first time.
Sounds like a very chilled and positive place mate, I really like Laos despite not spending much time there. The people seem genuinely nice not just bearing smiles whilst they take your money. It's a good thing you are exploring more countries and destinations before just settling at the bars in Pattaya with the other expats. Great chance to see what is the best place to retire (this could be the new theme of the channel, as people don't mind exploring with you). Cheers,
I often visit Laos and your impression of the people is spot on
@@Hm-ky3nu yeah I mean I really like Thai people, just need to have a joke with them and loosen them up a bit ha.
Very informative on Laos 🇱🇦. It's a quiet, peaceful place. And depending on your own circumstances, it could be a big hit. As you say,it's a grower 😊
That was very well said Eddie. I’ve fill you for years but that’s the first time I’ve seen this much more reflective laid back Eddie. It’s obviously doing you the world of good being out of England😉
Thanks, Brian
Ive really enjoyed your videos from laos ed n its a place id definitely consider visiting in the future, maybe make a short trip from nong khai.
Its been good to see you enjoy it so much especially with you being in 2 minds as to go there or not. This is what steady Eddies best at travelling, giving his opinions and insights and taking his viewers along for the ride.
Cheers, Mark
Hi Eddie a fellow Scouser and visitor to Laos i would say your summery is absolutely spoton, loved your blog.
Many thanks!
Summary. There, fixed it for you.
I moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia at the beginning of January and absolutely love it here. I actually love living here more than Thailand. Thailand is great for a vacation, but for calling a place home it doesn't compete with Thailand. I never feel lonely here. The Cambodian people just took me under their wing. The foreigners in their 30's constantly talk about how much they like Vang Vieng, because it is cheaper than Cambodia they said and the tubing is amazing!
You retire in Lao you will always have great inexpensive beer to drink , could do worse ?
Nice to see a positive feedback. Often Thailand is the measuring stick but its just not right to do that. Looks like a lovely place Ed.
I went to Laos last year for 4 days . Visited a ladies village. People were friendly. I'll definitely go to Laos again. Cheers Eddie
"Im as old as a Historical building" lol hahahaha This made me laugh out loud. Love you Eddy. Really enjoy your commentary.
Thanks, mate
Your Right Laos is Impersonal. I Love It and Love the Beer Lao
You have sold it to me eddy 😊 can’t wait to go
Eddy, I was last in Laos around 8 years ago on a visa run. There are plenty of Vietnamese ladies who are very happy to entertain foreigners in Laos. I totally get what you say about the people. They are quiet and understated.
I would classify Laotian people as very conservative, haven't been there in 8 years, but that was my initial thought even back then. Incredibly beautiful country, even more stunning in the very north of the country. I will most definitely return. Cheers 🍻
Those town names in Laos are a mouthful.
Eddie, you should've done that monologue with your shirt off. America loves you buddy!!!!
As comfortable as shirtless is, it's considered impolite to do so.
@@darrennicol2442 wife beater string vest then i know hes got one ive seen it on a previous vid
Any chance of a budget video Eddy? What have you been spending monthly since arriving from UK. Take care.
What do U think. Beer and whores. Normal Eddy
Omfg่, he's off on his How wonderful the mountains are again. Zzz please, someone teach him how to wear that hat. John Wayne used to wear a hat like that when he's riding a horse. Why is he wearing a chin strap 😂
My Laos family and friends are the nicest people i have ever met.
Eddy, personally I am not a fan of Vang Vieng. When you re in town the mountains are at a distance. Nong Khiaw (3 hours from Luang Prabang) however you have the mountains just in front of you and it has a nice river
Nice train
To me its pretty pretty cool and I miss that area.you can shove rockies and the cold weather, high prices and the build back better Mickie mouse club
Eddie.. It'll be my first time travelling to Bangkok from Liverpool.. Do You know how far and best way to get from Airport to Bang Su Railway station.?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Boring 30meters mountains coming up : ‘how could you not be impressed with it.’ People in Switzerland:😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
👍👍👍
Funny you say that about the Laotian people. I lived with a Thai girl in San Diego for years. We had many Laotian friends, but her description of them was "they're a lot like Thai with their language and food, but Lao people are not as friendly". Her words, not mine. But It does seem accurate.
I see your sponsorship from ' Bick Razor's ' hasn't happened yet!😂😂😂
I was in a bar in soi 6 not long after the pandemic. There was an ex bar girl in there as a customer, her sponsor had just sent her some money, she spent 12000 baht of his money that night, including buying me drinks too!
The hotel boooooked that for me
13:07 Luang Prabang is not authentic Thai town? ......................because it's in Laos Eddy LOL !
It is first class which cost 552k. Top tier is biz class which cost 975k. Of course your packet includes hotel commission and transfer to train station
th-cam.com/video/-ZNlsJeKq0I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Y4pWCb_lnnZnIL1e
12:20. You can find what Biz Class look like
Eddy, 0:38 > train journey, you said in the video 75000 KIP, but then saw on the screen 750000 KIP. which amount is correct?
The amount on the screen
310km in 2 hours. That is impressive for a train!
Not in a decent spot 😂😂😂😂
Do they have a retirement visa (or other long term visa) or do you have to do border runs every 30 days?
Eddy , did you have to get a new visa for Thailand in Vientiane ?
No, got it at the border
I think the Lao people are a little sweeter and less aggressive than the Thais.
Like many SE Asian Countries, Laos rewards those who are willing to make the effort to learn about the best places to visit, and then Travel there.
Ed has only shown a small sample of what's on offer.
Can you get your end away there tho Eddie, im a bit of a monger?
You can, but it pays to stick to massage parlors, as they pay the cops to stay away. Technically sex outside marriage is illegal, even for Lao.
@@darrennicol2442thank you.
Tyne chips looked like they were cooked last week . Looks like Eddy has given up on the ladies now he’s retired. Pleasant is akin to bored shitless .
It's a more socially conservative country than it's neighbours, but let's be honest, you find it unexciting because the "nightlife" options aren't there
I was on the same train this morning. Would’ve liked to say hi to you
Did not you consider going onwards from LP to Yunnan, China? What were your reasons for passing on this intriguing possibility? I understand that the girls are very cheap there, and of course it is a fascinating place in its own right. (Air pollution is bad, and Chinese women do spit... When I was in Guangzhou, I often saw ladies horking up world-class greenies for sidewalk deposit.) Eddy, China yields travel experiences found nowhere else!
It did cross my mind. Maybe another day.
I couldn't agree more about Vang Vieng & Lao - and yeah, Luang Prabang is over rated 😀
Perhaps it is famous for its resto and cuisine
Sounds like little eddy’s glad to leave
Hi Eddy. Hope you are well, mate. As much as I enjoy your brilliant channel, I do have to say that some of your viewers do ruin it by moaning too much about the cold, rainy weather in Britain. I don't mind the cold weather, and the rain is good for keeping horrid droughts at bay. In fact, I much prefer autumnal climes to hot weather, of which I have never been a fan. I could never ever live in a hot country. I don't understand why so many rave over heatwaves. Give me fresher autumnal weather any day over hot, uncomfortable, sweaty weather. which makes me ill, not to mention being unable to sleep at night. And then there's the problem of all those HORRID insects becoming prevalent. So yeah, keep up the good work with your channel, Ed, but GOD, I wish those Moaning Minnies would stop going on about the "cold weather"! There ARE some of us out here who DO prefer autumn and winter, and these sun-worshippers should realise that.
Good to hear from you
Cheers Eddy.
So much better than Pancras
Unexploded ordnance. Laos is the most havily bombed country in history. Only 10% has been removed. Did you see any demining operations? When I was in Siem Reap, I visited their operations.
Did you visit a MAG centre? They have 1200 people working in Laos to remove UXOs
16:22 ah here we go.......!
😂 😂
How the hell do you manage all those different names ? I could not do it. 😂
Ed, that meal looks tasty but I reckon including the beer you're looking at over 1000 calories - that's going to soon pile on the pounds.
Yes, but I only eat one main meal a day

@@STEADY599 That's what "Paul in the Philippines, old dog new tricks" youtube channel does. He used to be overweight, but he is in amazing shape now!
Rail network there looks better than UK.
It is China investing in countries (and Japan in the region). What is the US doing these days?
There has never been many economic tie between laos and US after 1975. Maybe more in Thailand. But american economic influence are shrinking in these regions
The most non capital in the world is Bern.
really for me it was canberra
Go home
Your a prick dabbller😮
This is why Eddys 'foreign' trips are a laugh.
Theres so much that he doesn't say,see or do that its extraordinary.
No thanks.. can't beat Thailand
Why are your conversions in dollars only? Are you just recruiting American subscribers ?
Terribly boring place to be.
Sounds like a really boring country to me . I would not bother with it and if you want to see REAL mountains go to Banff Alberta Canada . The rockies.
Lovely freezing 🥶 Canada. No thanks
Rockies? Foothills compared to the Himalayas😅
Banff? Sounds very exciting 😁
A Canadian's feelings of inferiority shining thru ..
Real mountains yes-
But the Canadian culture can’t get any more boring than watching ice melt😆.
It’s about the experience, memories, and reflections later in life
310km in 2 hours. That is impressive for a train!
Railway is 240km which is shorter than carriageway distance
