I'd rather a year in Bangkok than a day in London 😊
More British in Bangkok!
Thanks for the informative update.
river boats and ferries are a cool way to see parts of the city many don't see eddy. You'd have to be a lunatic to use a taxi. The best way is still the BTS and MRT. There is so much more to Bangkok than soi 4 and sukhumvit, it's a shame you don't see more of it. You'll be in Pattaya by now. Enjoy 🎉
Yes. Don't get it. He has traveled a lot, but won't look around.
Love how the thai women jump on and off those craft without a moments hesitation.
9 baht, worth every bit.
@@pandemicoftheunvaccinated5367 yeah if you're not good on your legs don't use the river boats 😂
Yeah I meant to add, the boat is a cool way to get around and much quicker than Bangkok traffic. Sometimes stay at Ratchatewi and it's a good way to get west (khoa san road, but usually avoid that dump). Sitting in a taxi isn't my idea of fun. It's important to stay near a BTS/MRT!
Some people just think Nana Plaza is the centre of town near the smut lol.
Paulie of Sopranos is back!
@petercedilnik3254 I KNEW he reminded me of someone - thanks for that ! He really could earn money being a celebrity body double.
Traffic in Cairo, Dhaka and Jakarta makes Bangkok traffic look like child's play IMO. Unfortunately you just happened to be travelling during peak hours across the center of the city. I'm sure central London, Rome or Paris aren't that much better during peak hours.
Glad you enjoyed Bangkok, I was never a fan until last year, had a great time and will return again.
Safe travels.
Very useful advice and insights.
Nice update Eddie. Nice to see some familiar places in Soi 6 and Soi 8 - I always stay in that area when I’m in Bangkok as it’s so convenient for bars, restaurants and transport via BTS and MRT…..I avoid taxis if I can as the traffic is no fun
Bangkok right now 101 degrees F, 38.3 C...70 dew point.....no thank you.
I left there Sunday morning. It was hot AF. It was too much to be honest.
Hot and Humid - that's just how Eddie likes it best 😊😊😊
@@VittoShulman And those pretty African girls!
It was 43 today in buri ram
@@gakenh01 Not in that heat thank you.
Glad your keeping well Eddie. All the best mate.
Thank you for the video, cheers Ed.👍
Cheers, mate
Top man steady Eddie great video 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Eddie, great video, especially for me. That area is exactly where I stay when I'm over there. I always stay at the Crown BTS Nana, very reasonable prices, and fantastic staff. Then downstairs, through the little alleyway past the hairdresser and the BJ Bar, to Soi 8. The bar where you were looking at the beer prices is where I go for my morning coffee - they open earlier than the others, and they have good cappuccinos, also great staff. Hope I manage to get there this year.
Cheers, mate.
Hope youre having a good time in Bangkok mate cheers 😁🍻
Good commen sense!
Good on ya Ed, love Nana. Bangkok wouldn't be the same without the Nana area. 😊
Bloody good episode Eddy 👍🏻
Great info Eddie, im arriving there this Friday. Cheers
Hope you enjoy it!
@@STEADY599 no doubt about it fella
Best move steady
Nice 😊
Keep it steady.
Good video Ed ill be in Bangkok on Saturday coming from Udon Im going to fly to Bangkok and try the train from the airport to a hotel near Nana Bts due to the traffic you talked about
Great video as always!
I appreciate that
Bangkok is tremendous value for money. I stayed in a delux premium room in a top hotel at Terminal 21 USD 110. On business, but still excellent value.
Stayed at end of Soi 4 last month, close to the gates of Benjakiti Park, that is a great park to walk through, so tranquel.
Yesss Eddy lad
Hi, "Steady Eddy"..., Excellent video and very informative, and "Thank you" for sharing the video ! ! * Wish..., you could have stayed longer in Bangkok... Enjoyed the video and looking for more excellent videos'... "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :) * P.S.: "Yellowstone" is going strong and going into its Sixth ( 6th ) TV Drama Series Season... Mike in Montana :)
Good to hear from you, mate
For me, Bangkok (or rather Sukhumvit) is not expensive by world standards, but it is expensive compared to the rest of Thailand. Last time I was there, I couldn't find a beer in a bar during the night time for less than 100 baht. Even the really average bars were charging 120 baht for a Chang or Leo beer and many were charging 140. The girls were also very pushy for drinks- as in the moment I sat down I'd be asked to buy a drink by 1 or 2 girls. If I refused, they gave me a nasty look.
There was a very good looking but very pushy girl in one of the gogos
I agree, been Bangkok about 20 times, hated it at first but grew to love it later…I love the area around soi11, 8 and 7
Gud 4 u ed an thx for a honest update
HAHAA! I was in that gogo in Nana where they had the girl in the tub next to the mini stage supporting two more girls. That place is fun! 💯
Geishas
(many years ago Ladyboy place Cascade)
I was in Bangkok way back in 74 and trust me the traffic wasn’t much different , however these days the cars don’t run on leaded fuel….enjoy the positives.
Love Bangkok I use the bus, mrt, bts and local river transport not overly expensive. Will be there in around 2 weeks for 10 days. Will be visiting the markets and local sites great city that does grow on you over time.
I ❤ Bangkok
The live music is world class 🙌
Thanks for that Ed bkk always go to see again I'm off to bkk soon
I am really surprised that you move around Bangkok during this heat... I am not leaving my house in the Philippines because it's too hot and humid.... Better stay inside and drink a lot of cold water and in the evening ice cold beer... 1 l bottle for 110 pesos/ 2 €. Hopefully in May the rain comes and it will be cooler.... 🥵🍻
We're at melb airport now waiting for a Cebupacific flight to Manila-have shorts and singlet at the ready.
Was in VN last month- no rain in the south the whole time I was there- Saigon was-is very hot without rain.
The south has regional droughts.
The temperature is hot in SEA this season. Hopefully the rain comes
Lovely vlogs enjoying lots of catching up lol of to London on Saturday I will order ur books me&brother greetings from beautiful Singapore
Cheers, mate
Fitzgeralds, bloody hell Eddy you brought back a great memory of me and my 2 mates there at Christmas 2019. My best mate Carl passed away at the age of 41 the year after so i really cherish the memories from that trip dearly 😍 thanks mate 👍
Sorry to hear that, mate
@STEADY599 thanks mate, its all good he'd enjoy your vids too 👍
Did any of you manage to finish your Xmas dinner? I also has Xmas dinner there 2019
three course meal and the portions back then was absolutely massive especially the meats on the main course and big chunky prawn cocktail.
@darrenjones2983 I don't think we did mate 😂 was a great atmosphere as far as I can remember!
😂 huge, Yes it was a great atmosphere 😊
I love Bangkok for 2 days, then I’m heading to the beach.😊
Steady Eddie keep the camera steady 😂😂😂
Just kidding
Fun video
Your pork chop meal with sides and a beer in Bangkok , $12.36 Australian .
The same meal in an Aussie pub in Sydney Australia with a beer $19.00 , by way of comparison but the steak would be beef with chips and salad on the side .
Why are you not using the Skytrain and MRT system to get around Bangkok? Quick and affordable. Admittedly does not go everywhere but you can get either to the area you want to go and then get taxi or tuck-tuck or bike to your hotel or place you want to visit.
We also asked that. Guess he just gets stubborn.
And lots of good-looking ladies on board usually
Han$um Man stuck in his bad habits. Surprised he’s not dragging his suitcase around … 😂
Your not wrong, when you say there are some cheap gaffs in Bangkok Ed. I was there back in March and my lady found a tiny little bar just behind the bayoke sky hotel, where we both got lost trying to navigate the lifts, anyway the little bar she found were at the time selling large 660ml bottles of chang for 75 baht.
Great video as always. I was hoping you'd leave the camera rolling as you walked to the end of soi 6 and took the alley through to soi 8 though. I always like looking at the Kasalong and Lolita's girls to see if I can spot any of my "friends!"
Great update. You did keep it PC lol
Agree. Your flight home will probably start from gates S101 to S128 at BKK. S as in Satellite
I’ve ate in Stumble Inn a fair few times over the years. They do really good farang food and freelancers in the evening 😁
Regarding the Wi-Fi, it depends on the establishment. Wetherspoon's as I'm sure you know across the UK require it as do many other large chains, Eddy. Glad you're enjoying BKK.
Good pub 😊 that Chequers pal always go then I Sit out side hooters and watch the world go bye
Eddy watching this video I can almost feel the heat !!!
Sounds like you were in Billboard gogo, probably the best in bkk , yeah cheap pint in Irish bar opposite hillary 2 . I prefer soi 11 now , I visited to get away from the songkran madness .
Hillary 3 soi 11 has a good atmosphere and I usually stay in the travelodge , excellent value
stumble inn, was there last week, great place
This email for wifi and also when getting a receipt in shops is commonplace in the UK. They use the email to send you marketing material for there business. It it actually a KPI for employees.
Haha! Eddy and all his "contraband" going into Nana Plaza! 😂. You go Eddy!
Hey Eddy, my last horror taxi experience in Bangkok was back in 2008, it took forever to get from the airport to my hotel in central Bangkok, plus I later discovered the taxi fare I had bargained down to was still heavily overpriced.
Since then I've always taken the train from the airport to my hotel in Bangkok.
I just get on google maps and book a hotel that's within walking distance to a BTS or MRT station......cheapest fare and quick travel time. 🚂
Since 2008 ? The train service from the Airport only started around 6 years ago .
@@anthonydowling3356 I said my last horror experience was in 2008 when I last took a taxi.
@@anthonydowling33562008 was when I last took a taxi, re-read my comment.
The tran service to the airport started in 2010.
350 THB for a Sunday Roast plus a Soft drink sounds like a very decent price. If you know your way around in Bangkok the city still offers a great value for your money. Cheers EDDY..! Nice Video.
Good to hear from you, mate
You are very close to getting real dirty! 55555. All the best to you, Steady Eddy! Cheers!
Don't worry Eddie you won't get that traffic in Siem reap, and the beer will be very cheap
Ed, are the Hilary bars the best places for live music or are there other less well known gems?
I haven't looked recently
The world is changing. And I don't think it's for the better.
100% , Asia is luckily behind the western world as it stands
If you know you know.. shame I'm not over there, show people all the tricka. just like shortcut between soi 8 and 4. Is Lolita's still there lol?
@@G-rig6969 Yes.
Yes lolitas is still there Well was in february
In every single aspect it is getting worse. Not a place to bring children into
If the freelancers are all covered up in a burkha how do you pick a descent looking girl ?? Take it easy see you on the next one oh a walk and talk showing the african girls would be nice
What's the name of hotel Ed ?
Steady Eddy, I was walking on Soi Honey in Pattaya and saw you, looking great.
Cheers, mate
Those airport wi fi you can put in any name and email, they never check.
I've never had to do it, so why did you?
Bangkok hotels are amazing value, lot's of choice to suit everyone.
Looks like ya might be staying up near the Woraburi. 🤔👀 the Alt Nana is decent just a short walk away mate
It’s hot now. Maybe I’ll do the bts line. Walking around in the sun is brutal on my northern state body. Anyone know the scoop on Labor Day if everything is closed?
The MRT and BTS are really good I remember you visited lots of places last year Edd I remember I drove from Sukhumvit to chaing Mia know one indicated lol 😂 I was trying to be polite but then I learned my lesson Edd you have many journalists
You'd think they'd give you a few more peas with that chop.
I know you're afraid to say it. But Bangkok was the place you used to be able to go to to get away from the things that you've seen in your own country. It's not the things you see but it's the things that you don't see. And now they are suddenly in Bangkok. We can't have anything nice anymore.
Agreed. That’s why I try and travel more and more now. Before it all goes away.
Hello Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Laos etc.
Exactly. Busybodys in your life and business worming their way into your paperwork writing rules to force you to abide by and themselves as rulers bleeding your pockets...fees and fines and devaluations..
Thai food looks great 5555
Krap Pom
How's the traffic Ed?
Eddy, check out Morning / Night pub. Nice girls. Happy hour about noon to 8 pm. lol! Good food. Try the grilled squid.
Sadly, due some crooked tourists, recently I have been in a few bars on Sukumvit that charge you for drinks as they serve them and will not run the traditional tab……sad really
I stayed at Soi 4 in Bangkok around February and there were plenty of African and Arab women standing around the streets. Nothing against them, but I'll just stick with the Thai bar girls.
No question it is a great city and there are great deals to be had. There is no question though that prices have gone up quite a bit in recent years, particularly since the pandemic and will continue to do so. My question is, how long will it take before it isn't considered such a great deal and folks go elsewhere? Be interesting to see where things are at in 5 years.
Lollipop Bar, Nana……the best, legend
Excessive heat is what is going on. Over 100 degrees every day and no real relief overnight. Notice how few people are walking on those streets. Keep cool Eddie. Heat stroke is a real threat in those temperatures.
Same in southern Vietnam for the last month- no rain at all.
Increased vehicles, increased emissions, increased heat, less precipitation. It’s not rocket science, but many seem to be in denial of basic science … 😵
Bkk a great town. Use the trains to get around. Cheap as well
after being in udon thani bangkok must seem like hell.
a lot of bars now want you to register to use wifi it keeps tabs on who is using the system
It's a good idea with the WiFi having peoples data is a valuable business.
they want that private data to sell it and then dig deeper for more data about you to spam and tract you
He could just give false details
They need a good rail system and toll roads
Eddy it's funny you mention this as I had my first experience with an Arab lady not long ago because of this and let me tell you they certainly are an experience! Definitely something you need to try!
where was she from ?
@@beau_de_jour My lady was from Syria. She was very beautiful and certainly not shy. I think quite a few have flown over to avoid the ongoing war over there. Definitely worth picking up if you get the chance, and offering very competitive prices against the Thai ladies.
Met a few of the Syrian women in S Cal a few years ago-
They were good to go- friendly, young, well spoken. Nice fashion. And they tell you all about Syria.
I'm in soi 4 hope I bump in to you
in normal bars in London your looking at 6.50 a pint now
Great video Eddie. I’m on Samui, which isn’t cheap.
But for £120 a day I’m transferring between islands. I’m in a nice hotel all my meals and I go out and drink a lot and I’ve had a girlfriend you would get a room in for that so Thailand is cheap and if you take the girls and the alcohol out, you could live in this country very cheaply.
We’ve got three hours here. We get cocktails for 100 bar which is 2 pound. We’ve got a beautiful beach here with a lovely seabreeze. I recommend your viewers come to Samui to Chaweng beach where you get shade in the afternoon and a lovely seabreeze and we as we sweat through this unprecedented heat
Over and out from the land of the smiling people
Have a great time, mate
Bangkok is played out.
Last time there it was pouring in rain. I found a place on Soi Nana, B700 a night. The mirror was missing a third, but still there. The TV lasted 15 minutes until it failed and no way would it work again.
In the morning I walked the length of the soi and could not buy a breakfast. I had to go over Sukamavite road to Burger King.
Pattaya fills up with expats at weekend to get away from Bangkok.
I don't think traffic in Bangkok is any worse than when I first went in 1993. At least they have the MRT and BTS trains now.
I spy with my little green eye….KASSALONG! ❤😂🎉😮
never had to do that for Wi fi sounds wrong . yes i saw that in Nana plaza last year girls from many places
No way eddie babgkok is only childs play until i spent 5 hours getting from the airport mate unreal carpark😮😮😢
nice video, seems like very hot in thailand
Hi Eddy,
Can we please get a review of the hotel you’re staying at in Bangkok ?
I haven't done a review this time
FYI…..you have NEVER been allowed to film in any go go bar in Thailand unless you want to get a good kicking….
The reason Bangkok is so busy is that it has the largest amount of people of any city in the world living in the center. Also, you get a lot of cheap Charlie tourists that don't know, or want things for free and at village prices not understanding the rates and taxes the establishments have to pay in Bangkok As you say Eddy, a good show and a drink in a no fee entry girlie bar needs to be paid for, those girls and the staff need paying.
Very true, Graham
Most places with WiFi they give you a sign in name and password then that's it on a piece of paper or written on the swip card wallet. But providing more information then I would worry about your information being used for scams unless it was to get a Sim card at a mobile store.
Thailand, in general, looks a cleaner place than the Philippines, but with the current exchange rate, it seems like you get more bang for your buck, lol. Although decent Philippine hotels are expensive.
Love Soi 7 beer garden if it still exists…..nice freelancers and good food.
Demolished. neighborhood is now all tiny beer bars.
