  • I've updated this video as I found out why the rack was wobbling. This is the unboxing and fitting of the Yakima FoldClick 2 e-bike rack on a Tesla Model Y.

I do not own an e-bike or a regular, I probably will not ever own an e-bike, I have watched a lot of video tutorials on TH-cam, you really know how to make a great TH-cam video. Great work, please keep it up.

Thanks for the video Steve, I have already ordered my Model Y and have the same e-bike rack, so it is nice to know that it will all work together. Do you think it is better to remove the batteries to lighten the load on the rack.

Hi, the rack can take the load but I turned the hitch upside down as it scrapped on ramps. Also wind resistance will lower range about 20% cheers

Thanks for the interesting and informative video. I have a Model Y on order (can’t wait- only a few weeks more). I already use the Yakima Foldclick with my existing vehicle.
A few points of potential interest/relevance:
    1. To carry our 2 bikes, we chose the Foldclick 3 rather than 2. The 3 provides more clearance between bikes and handlebars and reduces the risk of rubbing.
    2. Though my current vehicle is a Pajero, I get the same wobble from the tow bar assembly if I fit the pin and retaining clip, but don’t install the retaining bolt in the underside of the tow bar receiver. Is it possible that the Tesla tow bar receiver has a similar threaded hole for a retaining bolt that will tighten out the wobble?

Hi, we are on a 2000km road trip and the rack is secure despite the wobble. I’ve turned the tow bar upside down though as the rack has been scraping on driveways. Also battery does down faster. Video will follow. Cheers

Are you still happy with the Foldclick 3, seems like a good idea? I'm torn between the 2 and the 3, the advantage of the 2 appears to be slightly less weight which is handy when you have 2 ebikes.

This is the one I am looking for. Thanks for the video Steve. What is your thoughts about Thule bike rack vs Yakima? 🤔

My mate has a Thule and loves it. I went looking for one but there would have been a delay to get one so I went with the Yakima as I could take it home. Cheers

I think Thule is better. Much less play as it tightens on the hitch. There is hardly a play. I carry two ebikes on M3.

It's a bit of everything in one. I'll have too test ride one, but I like it. It's even from n.z.

That electric bike is too big... I'm pretty sure i read that you're only allowed 15 cm for the bike to extend over the edge on each side?
