The RRHOF is a joke. They'll have Taylor Swift sing Godzilla while the original band members are only allowed to sway in rhythm in the background. Let us keep them alive her as a better tribute, to be heard forever.
These guys never fully reached their commercial potential, but they have a rabid "Cult" of fans out there to this day, and I'm proud to say I'm one of them! 🤘
Hey y'all..Buck and Eric are still going as BOC...and Joe and Albert have great bands of their own.....RIP Alan.... we're all getting old... but the legend continues ❤
That is what I really, really love about the new digital age we live in. I constantly see things that I have never seen before, or saw once 30 years ago. BOC is a treasure that every time I hear them, I wonder why they were not bigger than they were. Their videos are great, the songs are great...
Adam Priest Still in their 20 most-played ever, per Setlist.fm, but yeah…in mothballs since '03. The only other one of the Top 20 they haven't done on this tour is "Stairway to the Stars", and that was played in '08, at least.
Take Me Away and Stairway are 2 of my favorites ever! They PROBABLY will never do either again( sadly) because Eric cannot sing either.. Listen to Joan Crawford at one of the last shows. He is really struggling.. Bloom last sang GREAT in 2001 and has struggled since. Due to this obstacle in setlist planning, the Boysters should have refreshed the setlists with more rare " Buck tunes". They have not unfortunately..
+Adam Priest I saw them a couple weeks ago. And Eric was sounding pretty strong. They did Cities on Flame and the Red and the Black with Eric on vocals. Sounded pretty awesome.
+elf man Dude, that was a hologram Eric Bloom in concert. He has been living in the south of France since 1990. The Coneheads invited him to visit and he stayed there. "C'mon. Take Me Away"
Buck Dharma has to be one of the most underrated guitarrist ever. Jesus, the guy know how to make a riff, and that solo. Also check the live version of Veteran of the Psychic Wars, you won't be dissapointed.

I saw thesse guys in 1973 before anybody knew who they were. BOC were openers for Allice Cooper on the Billlion Dollar Babies tour. Cool as anthing. Black leather jackets, mirrored sunglasses, killer riffs. You were left gasping: who in the f*** did I just see?
I remember first hearing this song played on the radio in early 1984 when I was 15. This was the heaviest HM song of its time before Thrash Metal came along and completely blew the doors off everything. Blue Oyster Cult is probably the most underrated Heavy Metal band of all time! This is a killer tune!
I love Blue Oyster Cult but this wasn't the heaviest HM song of the time. Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and many others were already well established and big before 84.
Thats because radio only wants to play Reaper, Zilla, and Burnin which I'm starting to get burned out on. In other words their played too much and they know BOC has other great tunes but they go based on what is top 40.
+Alan Lloyd It did get some airplay but picked up some steam in later years. One of my favorites by the band. Career of Evil the new JK Rowling book is out and has many BOC references..so cool.
Curious about the timing on this... too young to remember when it got played on the air, but I'm wondering if the the whole Heaven's Gate thing might have made it seem like a bad look for the radio ... especially with the crap they already got about supposed "pro-sv1c1d3" messages over Don't Fear the Reaper

Strange shapes light up the night
I've never seen 'em though I hope I might
Don't ask if they are real
The men in black, their lips are sealed
Fantasy fills my mind
To leave this place before my time
Release myself from earthly care
My dream may be your nightmare
[Chorus:]
I turn my hopes up to the sky
I'd like to know before I die
Memories will slowly fade
I lift my eyes and say
Come on take me away
Come on take me away
Come here girl close to me
A thousand stars your eyes can see
First one we see tonight
I wish I may I wish I might
[Chorus:]
[Jam]
[Chorus:]
I lift my eyes and say
Come on take me away
