As a Robin main, I like this. Also, I'd like to see some more Robin tech on this channel. He's one of the more unpopular characters, but his mechanic is pretty cool, and useful when done right. Item play definitely comes in handy, especially with his buffs to thrown tomes and Levin Sword.

The game was designed with running through people not being a thing at all (unless they dodge or whatever; only under certain circumstances). This kind of just throws that piece of the game out the window. This option should have no place in this meta, and as a result, it should be removed.

I'm practising the tech, and you guys just forgot to say that the roll cancel boost grab cannot be executed by dashing backwards, you have to dash into the direction your character is looking to perform this. by the way, as before, your explications are very understandable and clear and I love how fast you guys made a video on the new mechanics, it helps us (every smasher) improving faster and that's so nice.
RAR - jump then hit the stick in the direction you were running for a sliding f-tilt (if it carries momentum) you can do it for Up and Down tilts but if you wait a bit longer to do them, you will face the other way. This is good if you have a combo tilt or a bad dash attack

Smash 4 Checkmates were significantly more threatening when the Robin player knew how to roll-cancel grab/pivot grab, plus it was a little scary when you saw Robin slowly creeping up to you with foxtrots readying a grab. I also really liked using it with the likes of Little Mac and Pikachu. Good to see it's back!
We are going to have this game for a *long* time, seeing how quickly this game came out compared to other Smash games... A lot more new tech to discover.

Pikachu Lucina Martha Falco Pichu Zelda Ice Climbers Peach/Daisy Mewtwo Pit/Dark Pit ZSS Wario Ivysaur Charizard Diddy Kong Little Mac Villager Olimar Palutena Robin Shulk Duck Hunt Ryu/Ken Bayonetta Inkling Mii Gunner Mii Swordfighter Mii Brawler Simon/Richter. I'll be posting a doc link as a reply with the frames for each character to show when it has to be executed. This tech is only viable for a handful of these characters, the majority of the cast is frame tight.

I found that Shulk can full hop and if you do a directional air dodge to the ground and activate the Monado Wheel as fast as possible, you can get lag less air dodges. It's a pretty useful technique to mix up your opponents, I've won a few games with it.
Roll cancel boost grab works by cancelling the roll animation anywhere between frames 1-3 of the roll animation. So for those wondering why their character can't do it (and get through), it's because they don't move the required distance to pass within the first 3 frames of the Roll. 👍
Okay so i figured it out and more characters can do this than just the one's listed. Mii Gunner is inconsistent because you have to cancel initial dash on frame 1 to go through. Cancelling initial dash on frame 1 makes it so the start of the roll animation doesn't push the other character away. Same goes for mewtwo
I don't know how good it is at going through or pivot grabbing from the other side, but it is definitely worth mentioning how good Kirby's boost grab is. To me it may be the farthest I have found or seen so far.
ok i dont know how known this is yet but after a while of trying this out ive come to the concussion that this does NOT work with tether grabs and villager/isabelle's grab, you CAN do it but it doesn't seem to make a difference, infact it actually seems to DECREASE the distance you go
Hey Beefy Smash Doods, you can use the c stick on the gc controller to perform this much easier. It works for grabbing backward too if you just flick the stick that way.
I think that I just found something. I don't know if it appeared in previous games but if you short hop and perform an aerial it'll be weaker. I noticed 2 things: 1. A short hop aerial is 85% weaker than a regular aerial. 2. The difference in knockback almost doesn't exist. A short hop aerial is just barely weaker than a regular aerial (To put that into perspective I checked moves that KO at almost 500% and the difference was about 2%).
