The Tesla Model S Plaid is one of the quickest production cars that offers unparalleled performance at an attainable price. The contender is a highly modified AWD Ford Mustang with 1,400 horsepower. When I saw the video of these two cars racing I was thinking of your channel, and hoping that you would do this comparison. Even though the power to weight ratio pays off for the $$$ Hoonicorn, their unprepped road races consistently had the Tesla ahead for the first 300 feet despite the Hoonicorn's racing tires. So the victor of most races would depend on the the driving and launching skills of the Hoonicorn driver (up to a point) and the road conditions. It is amazing that the Tesla can get this close to a super high powered race car.

Yes, also keep in mind the Hoonicorn has absolutely 0 traction control while the Tesla has extremely fast and accurate traction control. So the Tesla is much better at putting power down when near the limits of grip. Despite having grippier tires, the Hoonicorn is just spinning until it isn't.

Hoonicorn is definitely running 8.5 down the 1/4 mile
Even it pulled away from the plaid the same way hoonicorn walks away from plaid
It's gonna be very close race
But I think with a better launch the hoonicorn will take it

Accurate! They say in ideal conditions, the Hoonicorn is a low 8s car. Here is a sample of actual races against Plaid, but not on drag strip

If Plaid is putting 100% of it's power down, it will get a 0-60 in the high 1.9 second range.

its a drag race, but nothing is being dragged and the cars drag coefficient dont matter in these kind of runs.
where does the "drag" part comes in here?

The PLAID is a slug, a GOLF CART, a toaster oven on wheels! Gets beat by a multiple hundreds of thousand dollar, HAND BUILT race car weighing 3000 lbs. or perhaps a little less, with 315 tires all around and all wheel drive with OVER 1400 HP, and is that 95 pound young girl driving it?..... Love these matches when we have all the simulated info, and then someone goes and does an actual race showing just about spot on the simulation was to reality. Good show, not talking about the reality race, but just how close the simulation was!
