    Despite being significantly down on horsepower compared to the other two, the Porsche didn't do bad at all, especially on launch.

      Porsche isn't int he same class really, I mean they had to tune the 911 turbo like ES motors or so then.

    • @nikkytheawesome7556
      @nikkytheawesome7556 ปีที่แล้ว +163

      The amount of horsepower doesn't actually affect your initial launch. A higher horsepower only comes into play at higher speeds since if you try to spin the wheels at maximum power right from the get go, you'll just spin them up and get nowhere.
      The formula for calculating the amount of horsepower you need is power (in watts) = mass of the car * current speed of the car ( in metres per second ) * acceleration required ( in metres per second squared )
      Since cars are traction limited, the acceleration can only be so high and hence the power of the car only becomes a limiting factor at higher speeds since the power required to maintain the same acceleration is directly proportional to the speed of the vehicle.
      This is why the porsche can keep up with the others launch and or beat them, since at the launch its not the horsepower that counts but the ability to limit wheelspin and limit the acceleration to as close to the value that the friction allows.

The resulting engine performance during acceleration, e.g. from a speed of 80 km/h (22.22 m/s) to 120 km/h (33 m/s), if it takes 6 seconds and the weight of the vehicle is 1500 kg., the front surface of the vehicle S= 2m ^2, the drag coefficient air Cx=0.32, air density Ro=1.3, coefficient of rolling friction f=0. 015 and transmission efficiency at n=0. 95 is P=(m*dv/dt*v+ m*g*f*v+0.5*Cx*Ro*S*v^3)*1/n=(1500*((( 33.33-22 .22)/ 6) *33.33+1500*9.81*0.015*33.33+0.5*1.3*2*0.32*33.33^3 )*1/0.95= 121.413 kW An important parameter is the derivative of power according to momentum, where the result is acceleration dP /dp=a

      2. Yes they said that car expensive but two other cars just twice or even 4x the price of the PLAID,, maybe they just hate EV so much especially Tesla,, 😁😁
      3. Yes it had track Pack but not out yet,, available on June,, that's not gonna make the Plaid faster or a "Monster on The Track" but at least it could stop a lot better(more consistent) and perform a bit better on the Track,, 😁

That said: I've had all of the 2020+ performance models, and they were all great ('20 3P, 22' YP, '21 Plaid, '18 Model X, but Turo'd a '22 before buying the S Plaid). I had zero issues out of my other Teslas, all driven just under 30k miles in a year. I've put 29k on my Plaid (sitting at 42k now) and it's had that restraint issue the entire time. However, it's still the only car that I can drive 4k miles a month worry-free-ish while enjoying the performance and practicality (it fits more luggage / stuff than the Y due to the longer trunk). And now that I've replaced the yoke with the wheel, my wife will actually drive it sometimes.
