Larry Ramos was the young Asian gentleman. He was a gifted guitarist and singer from Hawaii, of Filipino descent. He also played with the New Cristy Minstrels on several of their hit songs. He was one of the few Asians in the American pop scene in the 60s/70s. Very well known and respected in the Asian community. He passed away a few years ago after having lead The Association for decades in countless concerts for millions of fans around the world.

Very good late 60s group unfortunately became forgotten. Thanks for shining light on this great group. Never my Love (beautiful) probably their biggest hit
Cherish and Windy are very good In my opinion. 60s music sooooo good and upbeat for the most part.

Along Comes Mary" was written song by Tandyn Almer. The song was recorded in 1966. It was the group's first hit. The song is sung from the point of view of a once-disillusioned young man talking about the "tribulations no one ever sees" and who "curse[s] those faults in me." The singer believes Mary gives him comfort and improves his life.

When I saw the thumb-nail, I knew you'd like it. The Smother Brothers Show was hilarious, and they put several bands into the forefront. The Association is so great with their own sound. I can't remember if they are in the Hall of Fame, but they definitely deserve to be.

I used to watch 'The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour' on a weekly basis back in the 60's and early 70's. They were funny and great musicians and singers in their own right. Love the comedic way they (The Association) introduced the band here back in 1967 on (The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour Show) and working it into one of their biggest hits "Along Comes Mary. Brilliant!

Music is everything, every genre from spiritual to rock. Our bodies run on vibrations and frequencies that's why we react to the different musical notes and sounds, sitting in church crying to a hymn being sung, dancing to disco, singing a country song, rocking out, reggae dancing, rapping to a fire tune. the beat of Africa, the tango of Argentina, all of the countries in the world have beautiful music to give us all. The music triggers memories and love, happiness, sadness, all wonderful. Thank you for sharing your time with us, I love you both and wish you happiness and joy in your marriage and on your journey of musical enlightenment.

During the late 1960s, the band had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival. They are known for intricate vocal harmonies by the band's multiple singers.

There are live performances of the Association out there. They played at Monterey Pop Festival and the Ravinia Festival in Illinois, and the videos are on TH-cam. Really solid band singing perfect 6-part harmony. People who were there at the time say they were one of the best live acts around. The intro was written by bassist Brian Cole who sadly died in 1972 from a heroin overdose. Lead guitarist Larry Ramos (the "Made in Japan" guy, although he was actually Hawaiian-Filipino) died in 2014 but the rest are still with us. A version of the Association still performs live with Jim Yester (singing lead here) and Jules Alexander (the original lead guitarist), plus Brian Cole's son on keyboards.

in case you missed most of the lyrics like I’ve done since the 60’s, here you go:
along comes mary lyrics - Google Search
Every time I think that I'm
The only one who's lonely someone calls on me
And every now and then I spend
My time at rhyme and verse and curse those faults in me
    And then along comes Mary
    Mary, Mary
    Then along comes Mary
    Mary, Mary
And does she wanna give me kicks
And be my steady chick and give me pick of memories?
Or maybe rather gather tales from all the
Fails and tribulations no one ever sees?
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
    Sweet as the punch
When vague desire is the fire in the eyes of chicks
Whose sickness is the games they play
And when the masquerade is played and neighbor folks
Make jokes as who is most to blame today
    And then along comes Mary
    Mary, Mary
    Then along comes Mary
    Mary, Mary
And does she wanna set them free
And let them see reality from where she got her name?
And will they struggle much when told that such
A tender touch of hers will make them not the same?
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
    Sweet as the punch
And when the morning of the warning's passed
The gassed and flaccid kids are flung across the stars
The psychodramas and the traumas gone
The songs are left unsung and hung upon the scars
    And then along comes Mary
    Mary, Mary
    Then along comes Mary
    Mary, Mary
And does she wanna see the stains the dead remains
Of all the pains she left the night before?
Or will their wakin' eyes reflect the lies
And make them realize their urgent cry for sight no more?
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
    Sweet as the punch
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
When we met I was sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup tastes as sweet as the punch
    Sweet as the punch
