    Paul - re medical school or other careers. The advice from George and Ken was overly optimistic. The fact that you did not do well in year 1 is NOT a good sign for you ever being accepted to med school again if you do not go back right away. The reason is that med school works on a cohort system - that means that once a space is lost, it is lost for tuition for the med school from then on out. This is not like regular college where if you miss a history class this year, you can take it next year. Certain classes and practicals are scheduled for particular years. Be very careful accepting educational advice from the Ramsey team - they are weak in areas that they did not prepare for themselves, especially the health professions. Your med school is likely giving you grace for this ONE opportunity again in order to recoop their tuition costs and not lose your space in the program which is a total loss of tuition for them. So you need to make up your mind if you want to truly be a doctor and IF you can make it all the way. The fact that you got distracted that first year is a real red flag because more difficult days are ahead, especially in terms of residency. What you also need to figure out is if you have it in you to study for the med boards at the end of the training because unless you pass the med boards, you cannot practice. Do you have the discipline to do it? Secondly, the projection that George and Ken had for how much money you could save before re-applying ("you got in once, you can get in again" - not true, BTW!) is off base, One of the weaknesses of all the RS personalities is they do not figure in federal and state taxes when you increase your income. If you should increase your income from $60,000 to $100,00 while trying to save - which is their advice - you will NOT be able to put all the extra $40,000 to saving to re-apply to medical school. You will have to pay taxes on the $40,000 extra if you manage to raise your salary that much. Is returning to med school possible after having saved up the entire cost? Yes, but the cost will also have risen and you will be a different person. You will have to reapply and likely take the MCATs again if several years have gone by. How will you do on the ENTRANCE exams a second time after being years away from your biology and chemistry courses? These are ALL things to consider, so keep them in mind and have a good hard think and also a conversation with your wife about what is next. OTOH, finishing 2 years to do Health Administration will put you at only age 26, very young to start looking for this career and be taken seriously, so you will have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Check out the job market for this kind of a degree before you leap and use Ken's principles of getting around people who actually do this, shadowing them, and getting a realistic view of the job.

    Don’t go into debt to become a doctor, but take 5 or more years off and then go into med school like it’s that easy. It sucks to have all this school debt for medical degrees, but the way all the presenters talk about it is crazy. They told a person going through vet school to stop school for a year or two to cash flow the rest of it. This isn’t a BA we are talking about, that’s a crazier statement than them taking loans.

      @flashthecorgi2053 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s not easy to concentrate on every single detail the caller gives you. They clearly do the best they can, so give them some grace! You can see they are listening and attentive. It’s not like they are on their phone or talking to each other. It’s just missing pieces of information because you’re focused on the other hundred details the caller gave you.

    • @Trustbutverify2651
      @Trustbutverify2651 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      And Jay, you need to realize that being on the other end of a telephone conversation is NOT the same as talking to someone face to face. The skill is different and details register in a different part of your brain, to say nothing of the fact that the audio is not always that great. In addition, they have a live audience in front of them and that is likely somewhat distracting. That said, I do notice that the women immediately start taking notes, while the men on the RS rarely do. Perhaps a gender difference, too.

    28:30 again with personalities letting calls go on longer than they need. Ken answered his question and asked what he felt about it.. Dave does not care how his advice hits people, he answers the question and moves on. This kid is now going to ramble about “i wasn’t going to ask for a raise” when his question literally says “how do i ask about raises at my new job”. Yes, the "how do you feel about that" started a while back with Jade. I was shocked when she asked it, but figured it was a one off (that TPTB would tell her not to ask again). No, she does it repeatedly every time she's on, and now the other personalities do it, as well. Who cares whether or not the caller likes the advice? Being palatable to the caller is not the point of the advice.
