Wayne-- treat your 3 children the same way. Don’t let your wife make you treat your own daughter differently. Your daughter and sons are your blood. Your wife is going to try to take care of her sons all her life. She will always marginalize your daughter. You should honor the good soul of your daughter even if your daughter is not perfect. Are your sons perfect? John is so right about this situation. I worry for your daughter in this situation with your wife. Don’t use money to punish your daughter

What a great rep[y, how true, I took care of my sons for too long, and it has turned out okay but I should have done it sooner. They blossomed and grew and I focused on my health and myself. It was worth it. You do them no favors if you wait to long.

This feeling is hurtful, when the children that has had the stable home and no childhood trauma gets everything and the kids that were put through the ringer cos the parents were young and made dumb mistakes and had to deal with abuse gets left in the cold. My mum who is now remarried made this clear to us ( kids from her first marriage) that we will not be getting anything.

I doubt the man who called about the inheritance for his daughter will read this, but if you want to permanently hurt your daughter, manipulate her with inheritance. I don't know why you would sit her down at 24 and tell her she won't inherit anything if she doesn't live "according to the Bible" which can have so many different meanings for so many different people. And shame on your second wife wanting to cut out your biological daughter. Your wife doesn't sound like the "god-fearing" Christian that you describe her as. My worst fear would be something happening to me and my husband remarrying someone cruel like your new wife who would want to be mean to my daughter. I don't usually leave comments for strangers on the internet, but Ramsay got this one wrong.

As a dad of two, my goal is to be in my kid's lives and guide them into adulthood. Inheritance and solid relationship are two different things.
Inheritance is what is given when you die. Each year you have to consider who will take care of your kids, funeral, and estate. Also who will be executor over it all.
Solid relationship is what you get after healing whatever hurts may be present or simply guiding your children into a position of equal standing. You may need to get together with your adult children and do things together in order to build greater trust.
Deciding what charitable work your money may do at the end of it all comes a long way after providing for your family and building solid relationships. To be fair to Dave, I think he already did a good job of providing for his kids and developing their relationship to the point where they can communicate as equals. 2 His advice was still solid: don't use a future Inheritance as a carrot to get what you want.

I think being a man of God means walking by faith not by sight. Faith not my own understanding. Faith not emotion. His ways are not our ways. Our thoughts are not his thoughts. This a the problem of being lukewarm. Jesus Christ came and said to his disciples remember if the world hates you it hated me first. I’m not concerned with what society says is the right thing. And the Bible says honor your parents for a long life. Come on. No more Sunday Christians. There’s only one truth. Living by the Bible isn’t broad its actually very specific. As a man and the head of a household. We make mistakes but that’s what makes us men. We stand firm by the word of god not our own understanding. I don’t care how much of a great man you are or how much you think you know best. A real man of god? Even when he thinks he’s right he humbles himself and seeks god. For it is written. The steps of the righteous are ordered my the most high. I pray if you read this you feel the conviction of the sword of the lord

I said there doesn't but yours always have one..... He stared at me because he knew he had one and then tried to rephrase it. I laughed pretty hard. If he gave you something it wasn't yours really. He always wanted it back first if you wanted to get rid of it. If you made a financial transaction for something with him he'd want you to offer it back to him first before you just sell it or get rid of it. But never give you the same $$ back. 1 sister asked how indeall with it. I said. I don't tell him what I do with it and never agreed to it just laughed with a sarcastic yeah sure and down the road. Chloe’s husband is probably going through what so many jobseekers go through these days. Jobs that pay over $15 an hour require 5 interviews and have 200 applicants.
But too bad, if you can’t get the job you want, you have to settle for something that puts food on the table. There’s no shame in being employed, even if it is throwing boxes or flipping burgers. It’s hard for all of us right now. I’m not even in the USA, and it’s the same in my country. But you know who’s hiring? The grocery stores and labour agencies. Swallow your pride and do your duty as a husband.

Paying down my mortgage ahead of time paid dividends when interest rates shot up a few years ago, as my mortgage payment did not soar with the extra interest because the principal balance was fairly low. I am now down to just over 6k principal, so interest is under £30. I am looking forward to being mortgage free sometime in late 2025, maybe even sooner if I can get some extra cash from somewhere. Definately worth it. Even now if I had to row back, my payments would be very low.

The point is being responsible about it. If your kids are handling their finances responsibly and being kind to ppl and taking the steps to do better then that is all that matters. Step-parents do not get a say in the other parent's child's belief system especially if they are grown adults. We are human and being human means we are not perfect.

Can't believe Dave let Chris mention that the retirement investments for Chris' MIL (Harrisburg PA) has "a couple million dollars" in it but only will product 60K this year? ~3% return? What the heck is it in? It needs to be moved, or the advisor fees are out of control.

That first call really makes me struggle with Ramsey at times.
Imagine cutting your daughter out of a will because she doesnt have the same beliefs. Dave says if shes doing cocaine which i agree woth, but if shes a woman of good character, good morals etc but is atheist, but respects your beliefs, whats the issue?
Simply not having the same belief so you get nothing is cult like.

    • @acnp785
      @acnp785 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Then you didn't listen...bc you do not believe the same things Dave does. Dave does not believe the inheritance is his. He believes the Biblical principle that he is a steward of what God has given him. He intends to pass His assets to other followers of Jesus. That was Dave's whole point. That principle applies to all the potential inheritants.

My husband and I are debt-free, with no mortgage. We have several hundred thousand in our home and money in the bank. I want to sell our house and downsize. but I can not get him to agree because he won't give up his "stuff". I know in a few years he will be very sorry, he will work forever and we could save so much more. It is so frustrating to try to get him to see the light. We need a small home and yard to care for and we only have 750.00 total monthly expenses now, but in the long term if we keep the house we will have major expenses and the house will only depreciate. We have been in this house for over 30 years and I know he hates change but sometimes you can stay in a home and neighborhood hood too long and things go downward. Get out now while we can.

I personally wouldn't even tell your daughter about the will because she's going to take it wrong and it is kind of a weird way to talk about that. I just would do the will and then keep working with her You're not going to die anytime soon you'll see when she gets into her 30's she'll change and when she's in her 40 she'll probably have children and everything would be great. And you never know it might be your boys that might turn away from God. So you want to be there for your children You want to love them and support them and make them feel like they're safe. And you pray over them whatever they do in their teens or early twenties they will come back.
