I think my favorite little detail of the movie is how the glass still sticks to his hands and breaks when Miles does his leap of faith. It shows that he is absolutely not relaxed at that moment. He's still terrified and doesn't think he's ready, but he takes the leap of faith anyway.
Miles Morales really established himself as the current generation’s version of relatable developing teenage characters along with my own Generation’s Terry McGinnis and Virgil Hawkins, and they each do so without being a cookie cutter of each other or any individual archetype.
I just learned that Miles’s leap of faith scene was completely different at an early stage, the first pitch was to Miles fail and crash. That would’ve completely break the feeling of growth and self-esteem and delete one of the best animation shot
In what you were saying, I can completely see a lot of kids loving Mile Morales *over* Peter Parker. I don't see the Spider-Verse giving many, if any, kids the impression that Miles Morales is Spider-Man *instead* of Peter Parker because a key idea of Spider-Verse is that anyone can be Spider-Man.
They'll know both as being spider-man but be aware of both as their own distinct individuals filling the role in their own way. With some relating to Miles more due to his own distinct personality, challenges and past jiving with them more.
@@Zikkartan Lee, the literal creator of Spider-man said he loves the character because anybody could be under the mask. So objectively your wrong and the whole foundation of Spider-man isn't based on the identity of Spider-man but the ideals behind the character like doing the right thing and belief in yourself.
I cried when Stan Lee passed away and again when I saw his scene in the theaters. I grew up reading Spider-Man and X-men comics in the 90s. Much of the theme of Spider-man was that anyone can be a hero. Stan’s stories in comics were always more memorable to me than any books I read in school. His passing felt like I lost a grandfather. RIP “Smiling” Stan Lee
First of all, you are rocking that Spider-hoodie. Secondly, that line Spider-Ham says, "The hardest thing about this job is... you can't always save everybody." Really chokes me up, even to this day. In every single superhero story, someone important to them that they couldn't save (like Uncle Ben, or Gwen Stacy in the spider-Man comics,) is a traumatizing memory that stays with them the most, their driving force to do their very best and try not to let anyone else die. But it's an impossible task, the cruel reality, and a rather mature theme that I'm glad they touched on.
I know this video isn't about the cinematography of this film, but a fun fact that I love in this is that the animators punctuated Miles's doubt/confidence in his abilities in that while he doubted himself, he was animated on the 2s (only changed 12 frames per second rather than the standard 24, making him a little more choppy), but in the moments when he found his stride - when swinging with Peter with the computer and then for the final act - he was animated in every frame.
This movie hit me SO hard in the theaters. And yeah the Stan Lee scene even here without the setup made me get a bit emotional, didn’t full on cry…this time.
Another great video! And damn... This video made me feel ashamed (wait, please read it all as I'm not trying to make you feel bad) that I forgot the movie's biggest lesson when I had seen it 4 times in theatres. "You won't know when you're ready, it's just a leap of faith." For so long, most of my life, I have let perfectionism and anxiety rule me, and the subsequent depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation it gave me only made me feel worse. I will never be "ready", it's just a leap of faith. Thank you for the reminder, Georgia. I hope you're well off screen and that you end each day with more lemonade than lemons that life has thrown at you.
The creators of Into The Spiderverse were trying to pay homage to the history of Spiderman. You will see the number 42 throughout the movie. This was to honor Steve Ditko who put 42 in the first Spiderman comic book. This was because he was a huge baseball fan and loved Jackie Robinson. If you know the Jackie Robinson story you see the parallels with Miles also.
Such an inspiration for moving forward… both you, Georgia, as well as Miles. You help a lot of us navigate this messy life. And the sheer amount citations from various different movies in this video was legit. That scene from Equilibrium with Sean Bean is one of my very favorite movie moments
Meeting Miles for the first time is amazing. I skip over the words/mumble the words I don’t remember in the song. I like that the gold streamers stayed from the old videos.
This movie came out at a perfect time in my life when I graduated from my associates heading towards University away from home. All it takes is a leap of faith you mean mess up you may fall but get back up no matter if it's quick or long and keep moving! This movie is a classic!
I remember working at Barnes and Noble and seeing the “Superheroes and Philosophy” books and thinking about how deep these stories are. Whether it’s Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, or even the Matrix, they all have a deeper psychology to them. This channel is reminding of that. Thank you!
I love this movie and Miles so much, they did such an amazing job. Some details that I absolutely love about this movie and the What's Up Danger? scene are - the glass comes off the building he jumps from because he's terrified, and he was still stuck to the wall when he jumped. He was scared, but he took the leap of faith anyway. They understood the assignment, it's exactly what you were talking about! So gooooooddd- - for the rest of the movie, he's animated more choppy than everyone else at 12 frames per second, compared to the 24 frames per second that the movie is animated in, it makes him feel awkward and off. But the moment he takes the leap of faith, he's animated at the full 24 frames per second and is smooth as silk. SUCH a cool detail!! - Aunt May (honored to have accidentally named myself after her LOL) saying the webshooters 'fit *perfectly*', which reflects when Stan Lee said the suit always fits *eventually*. - When he's swinging through the city, we see parallels of the first time he tried and failed to be Spiderman (grabbing and vaulting off the flagpole like a gymnist vs falling on and bouncing off of the flag pole, the WOOOO text following him going up vs the text following him falling down, etc.) - In the script, it says "Miles walks to the edge of the roof, the wind buffeting ... and LEAPS! The camera is UPSIDE DOWN. Miles isn't falling through frame. He's RISING." LIKE THAT IS SO GOOD!!!! Whenever I think about doing something scary or fear is stopping me, the beat of What's Up Danger that you showed at 14:40 starts playing in my head. It's nice, and when I have the energy to do the thing, it helps. 5:24 this sentiment (which the way you talked about it made me tear up too don't worry lmao) is something that playing Elden Ring and Geometry Dash is teaching me too. That if you bash your skull into a wall enough times, it will eventually come down. If you keep on trying and trying just to improve, you'll get there eventually. And that making mistakes is an inevitable and productive part of the process of learning (failing a jump and learning the correct timing a bit better, dying to a super fast attack and noticing that a boss always does that attack after a specific other move, etc.). It's still hard for me not to have negative self-talk and I haven't fully absorbed that concept and applied it to my life in general yet, but its nice. Thank you for making this video, your insight into things is always so nice.
my favorite thing about ItSV is how they animated Miles with less frames with respect to the other Spider people.. right up to the point where he believes in himself and joins them for the final fight. it's so subtle but your eyes can in fact catch the difference.
Something I learned about discovering self-confidence/self-esteem is that the process might be a bit ugly at first. You might look stupid, awkward or cringey but it’s very important to fight through these feelings and keep going. Like Georgia said nobody is going to be perfect at this journey. And I feel like people don’t expect you to be perfect either at the end of the day.
Ha, Georgia! You were making the web shooter noise in the thumbnail = ) I can tell! I can relate to this on SO many levels! Thank-you! Too scared to act...broke the record for number of acting roles at my university. Uncertain of my creativity and talents sang in operas and produced commercials in a high pressure two day turnaround. And I know YOU know how to be a hero.
It's like an amusement ride. You see something, and it terrifies you to even try. But you won't stop being afraid it until you get in line and go on it.
Great to see you take on the Spider-Verse. I hope you've got a video on Spider-Gwen coming, too. As someone who doesn't really read comics, I was vaguely aware that Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen were characters, but I didn't really know anything about them. Having seen these movies, I now consider them two of my favorite Marvel characters. (Or at least, their characterizations in these movies. I don't know whether they're as cool in the comics as they are in the movies.)
cant wait for you to analyze Miles in the next movie. the struggle of feeling left out, the struggle to feel belong, and impostor syndrome. the second movie is so good.
Could you do a deep dive into YellowJackets? there are so much trauma and mental disorders to explore in every character in the show, a therapist explaining it would be very interesting
This is great! 14:24 is speaking to me directly because I am a martial artist and I went to one competition already on a whim with a leap of faith. Now I’m preparing myself for it but still taking a leap of faith.
Yes yes and yes Miles Morales is one of my favorite Spider Men ! This video analysis of him puts the biggest smile on my face. By the way amazing Miles Morales cosplay.
Thank you soo much for doing this video!!!!! I cant wait for gwens overall analysis im so excited also im such a big fan of your content thank you so much for everything you do!!!
After so many years of superhero movies being visually tedious and obnoxiously literal, it was remarkable to see something like this come along, slap the executive belief that people aren't interested in visual metaphor and sheer filmmaking for its own sake out of everyone's mouth, and remind everyone what film can do as a storytelling medium
I love your videos as always, as a psychology student it is sooo helpful. I have a question, what is the difference between self-esteem and confidence? Love youuuu ❤
I will love to see your analysis on Rurouni Kenshin's anime. A remake just started last week. It is full of history and character development (assuming this will follows the original 90's anime) . In my humble opinion, it will be a great addition to your repertoire.
12:45 Being resilient is what makes us strong, and it produces stable confidence and self-esteem. However, in the beginning we saw that Miles already had stable self esteem; why was he fearful and not resilient --which is the necesarry ingredients for that stable self esteem?
Hello Georgia! I've been meaning to ask if you ever made a video covering ADD. As someone who is 99% sure he has it (still need to go to a psychiatrist) are there any ways of finding motivation and/or focus in things that I dont't find interesting. Ie. studying for a retake of a college exam that is in 1-2 months
I hope she makes a video still, because I think she's really smart and catches a lot of nuances other people don't. Still, as a person with ADD myself: 1) Surround yourself with people you want to be like; i.e., find a (serious enough) study buddy or study group you can meet with 2) Get yourself to the appropriate space which facilitates the desired behaviour, such as the library 3) Try the pomodoro technique. Focusing for long stretches at a time on something which isn't stimulating is difficult. So try studying in 25 minute intervals with 5 minute breaks in between. When it's study time, it's study time: so no looking at your phone until break time. Time your study time and breaks. 4) Don't overdo it. Allow yourself some leisure time. You are simultaneously your own employer and employee. If your employer asks of you to work all the time and doesn't allow for any fun, it's not weird you'd call in sick for work so often. Be a good leader to yourself. Hold yourself accountable, tend to your needs, and allow for a few longer breaks to keep morale up 5) Plan it out. Try to figure out how much work you need to do, and make it visible on a single piece of a4 paper. How many chapters do you need to do each day in order to have each chapter properly covered by the time you have the exam? Aim a week earlier than that, so that you can rehearse everything. This should also help with the idea it feels necessary to do something every single day. 6) Study depending on the subject matter. If it's math or something, more focus on exercises. If it's like psychology, more focus on learning the material. Moreover, it depends on what resources are available to you, and if they're good quality. Sometimes lectures are extremely clear, at other times it's better to rely on the book; still other times both the lectures and the literature are useful. Whichever the case may be, make sure to take good note of the learning objectives or topics. This is crucial to help you focus on what's important 7) To make it more interesting for yourself, you could try to figure out how this specific material is helpful to you. Knowledge is almost always useful, and can aid your understanding in other topics in surprising ways. (e.g., Vsauce.) 8) Studying isn't easy. And people with AD(H)D all struggle with different things to different extents. But if you keep at it and try to find what works for you, I'm sure you can do it!
I wonder if you'll ever cover some star trek stuff. I'd love to see you cover emperor philippa georgiou, she's a complex and interesting character for me.
I e thing I like but I never see anyone talk about is when Miles jumps off the building he takes some of the glass with him. Not because of the force of the jump but because he is still sticking to it out of fear. Yet he still jumps. He HAD to put himself in that situation.
Hi Georgia! I'm so happy to see you have a reaction to Into the Spider-Verse! It was fun seeing you sing along to the song. I agree, making a character relatable helps us enjoy them. Your cosplay is SOOOOO awesome!! Kudos, Georgia :D. True. We do hope to make a difference and make something meaningful. It is such a great feeling when we do :) :]. Great point. I didn't think about Miles' self-esteem when it came to how he responded to his father having him say "I love you too." You're right that he has good self-esteem. I like how he responded too. Yes. It is really easy to compare ourselves to others on social media. I've done that too. Great point. I didn't think about secondary embarrassment. That's an excellent point. It makes sense too :). I hope to get there, to my goals. I'm hard on myself, though I've made some improvements. I've learned the hard way about how the self-voice is integral. Spot on analysis, Georgia. "Every little tiny grain of sand matters." That resonated with me. Great point. :). Nods. Yes, it can be so easy to be jaded. I've felt my share of cynicism and jaded feelings too. You're right, the regret is much worse. Might as well stand up to fear and go forward. "We're so scared of failing that we don't allow ourselves the chance to succeed." Very true. I've learned that the hard way before too. Taking action is tough. Talking is easier. But, action is necessary. One step at a time :). Yep...I've done that before too. Waiting too long before I try something. Great reference to your Arcane Jinx reaction too :). Your Arcane analyses are awesome!! :] Georgia, I'm glad you made a channel. Your reactions and points resonate with me and it's a joy hearing your thoughts :). Keep up the nice work :). You're doing awesome! I wish we learned more in school about how to deal with failure. It's important. "Be careful about extinguishing someone else's flame." It's painful when one experiences that - to see people dismissing dreams and being rude about it. Yessss! I love how you included the Leap of Faith scene! It inspires me. My favorite scene as well. Yes! I agree, we can definitely enjoy it when we do something we fear. :). It helps a lot. I sometimes forget to take it in, to not downplay when I do. You reminded me to take time to be grateful for this. Superb video!! You did a nice job as always! I've had a lot of doubt with creative writing, but I've been slowly getting back into it recently. I'm going to work more on it tonight too and your video inspires me to keep at it! Take care. Have a great Thursday! :) :D.
I learn a lot about myself watching you talk about the characters I gravitate towards. I watched Arcane to watch your videos on it. Thank you. Ever consider "Doom Patrol?" Probably 40,000 videos you could make outta that one. Thanks for what you do. :)
This is a AMAZING video (no pun intended). Miles really is a great character one that really inspired me to take a leap of faith and still does. Suggestion for a future video, can you talk about Peter B. Parker?
was anyone else waiting for Georgia to go "Okay let's do this one more time, My name is Georgia Dow and for the last two years I have been a Therapist TH-camr... you know the rest!" once again, a amazing analysis and itching to see what your thoughts are on Across the Spider-verse!
i wish you did review game characters as well. so many interesting characters from games. both old games and new ones. and i mean old like 20 year old games
We definitely want to hear your opinions on Miguel O Hara because what he did was not okay 😓 even the scarlet spider Ben Reilly wouldn’t do what he did (for those of you who don’t know Ben is a clone of Peter who died so instead of trying to take over the O.G life he made a new one), I’m wondering about Miguel was his life from the original comic of Spider Man 2099 the incomplete series because if so then no wonder he wanted a new life 😓
I hope you can delve a bit into Gwen's story from the second movie (once non-cam footage is available for video making. 😁) Also, the cosplay opportunities!
Is it possible you could do an analysis on Guts from the anime Berserk? The 1997 version though. His character is way more fleshed out in that version of the story 😅

Your videos are so wonderful and very comfy. Thank you.
I will love to see your analysis on Rurouni Kenshin's anime. A remake just started last week. It is full of history and character development (assuming this will follows the original 90's anime) . In my humble opinion, it will be a great addition to your repertoire.
You are really thorough and detailed. Appreciate you! ♥️
Great suggestion!
I hope she makes a video still, because I think she's really smart and catches a lot of nuances other people don't.
Still, as a person with ADD myself:
1) Surround yourself with people you want to be like; i.e., find a (serious enough) study buddy or study group you can meet with
2) Get yourself to the appropriate space which facilitates the desired behaviour, such as the library
3) Try the pomodoro technique.
Hold yourself accountable, tend to your needs, and allow for a few longer breaks to keep morale up
5) Plan it out.
This is crucial to help you focus on what's important
7) To make it more interesting for yourself, you could try to figure out how this specific material is helpful to you. Knowledge is almost always useful, and can aid your understanding in other topics in surprising ways. (e.g., Vsauce.)
8) Studying isn't easy.
He HAD to put himself in that situation.
i've been going through a hard time lately and what you say here 9:02 really helps. it's almost like your saying it for me ; - ;
Pls make a video for Gwen too 😶
happening !!
@@GeorgiaDow my heart rate 📈📈
Georgia, I'm glad you made a channel.
Thank you so much for all this analysis and comments = )) made me really happy to read it all
@@GeorgiaDow Awww well it made me very happy to watch your video :). Always a joy to watch your content! :). Hope you're having a great day.
Love this movie, this character! Can't wait to see you do some analysis on the characters in Across the Universe, esp Gwen.
I learn a lot about myself watching you talk about the characters I gravitate towards.
I watched Arcane to watch your videos on it. Thank you.
Ever consider "Doom Patrol?" Probably 40,000 videos you could make outta that one.
Thanks for what you do. :)
yes I did a doom patrol or two , thank you!
This is a AMAZING video (no pun intended). Miles really is a great character one that really inspired me to take a leap of faith and still does. Suggestion for a future video, can you talk about Peter B. Parker?
Can’t wait for the Across the Spiderverse Gwen video. She is, to me, by far the most interesting character in the Spiderverse movies.
YESSSSS
was anyone else waiting for Georgia to go "Okay let's do this one more time, My name is Georgia Dow and for the last two years I have been a Therapist TH-camr... you know the rest!"
once again, a amazing analysis and itching to see what your thoughts are on Across the Spider-verse!
Haha that would be so cool! I wish she said that :) :D.
Oh love it ... wish I had... = ))
@@GeorgiaDow Maybe next time? :).
Are you gonna cover Miguel
I feel
Like he has some deep
Issues maybe unsure in life
Thank you
Loved the vid! Can you do Gwen too?
happening next !
Thx spidertherapist, your vidéo are dope ! :)
9:25 that’s Uncle Drew
Nice video it was usually, I hope you talk about Gwen's character in the next video.
i wish you did review game characters as well. so many interesting characters from games. both old games and new ones. and i mean old like 20 year old games
i love this but when are you going to do 'nimona'?
I think it would be really cool if you did one on Underverse! Which is a popular animation series on TH-cam ;0
We definitely want to hear your opinions on Miguel O Hara because what he did was not okay 😓 even the scarlet spider Ben Reilly wouldn’t do what he did (for those of you who don’t know Ben is a clone of Peter who died so instead of trying to take over the O.G life he made a new one), I’m wondering about Miguel was his life from the original comic of Spider Man 2099 the incomplete series because if so then no wonder he wanted a new life 😓
Georgia, how do you effortlessly analyze these films and these characters?
I hope you can delve a bit into Gwen's story from the second movie (once non-cam footage is available for video making. 😁)
Also, the cosplay opportunities!
I need to see the across the spider verse analogy
I hope you’ll cover Gwen’s psychological issues when Across the Spiderverse comes out.
Is it possible you could do an analysis on Guts from the anime Berserk? The 1997 version though. His character is way more fleshed out in that version of the story 😅
I do miss every shot I do take and even if I dont I know I would miss especially with how many shots I have taken i can tell and even if I did any of the positive things, It never works for one way or another, sometimes the world just picks domeone to sh*t on constantly, anything I aim for faild
Oh plz do more Spider Verse!
I would love to see you do an analysis on Annie Wilkes from Misery and the manipulation, gaslighting and mental/physical torture she puts Paul through.
The movie is great but the book is amazing.
Can’t wait for spider Gwen analysis
Here’s to hoping we’ll see a video on the greatest character ever, The Spot
ha maybe
I just wanna know where you got that jacket it looks great, and is it good quality like would you use it as a normal jacket on a daily basis?
You should do the characters from Nimona
Awesome video. If you're taking suggestions, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Peter B Parker.
