Clever video. I ride a 2010 Road King and was just bouncing around on TH-cam looking at others' videos. I appreciate the way you edited the video to remove all the extraneous bits that so many leave in and that you didn't feel the need to drone on about what you were doing with a boring play-by-play. Well done.
Thanks ehsan. ~ don't use a wrench to tighten an oil filter; hand "snug" is perfect. You don't want to strip the threads, or smash the "O" ring by over tightening. ~ on the dipstick, there is a lower "indicator" (just a line), and and upper "indicator. I shoot for just below the upper indicator when checking with the bike level. The difference in the amount of oil between the lower indicator and the upper indicator, is just over half a quart. Take care
Thanks a lot! So far, I can only point you in this direction... do a search for "repsol forum" in your favorite search engine; once there, search for the thread titled, Repsol Model Informaton
Excellent production. Thanks for posting. Question about checking the oil level. At first you had checked the level while the bike is on the paddock stand in up position. Then after you ride it, you've done it while the bike is on side stand in lean position. Both times you've screwed the dipstick. What is the correct way to do it? if there is any... Should we keep the bike upright or leaned and should we tighten the dipstick or just plug it in and out? Appreciated.
What kind of stand do you use? I'm looking into purchasing one but want to make sure it's a halfway decent stand. Do you sacrifice quality with a lower price when it comes to stands?
I have a CBR600RR 05 and a 2009 CBR1000RR. Honda makes an outstanding machine. But why in hell do they make it so damn hard to do monthly mainatance on the bikes. The other manufactures make much less diffacult.
@andreidantes17 Hey thanks! Your bike will actually be a bit easier... the oil filter is on the right side above the pipe. After you remove the right side fairing, pull the drain plug. Get yourself some cardboard or tinfoil (tinfoil is easier to shape), make a "canal" with the tin foil to place between the filter and the pipe, after loosening the filter, the oil will run down the "canal" into the drain pan.
It can be a bit of a pain, after you do it a few times, more of a breeze. But no tips, sorry. You have to align 4 things at the same time for them to go into the proper spot, just takes a bit of patience at first
my 2009 doesn't burn oil. haven't been able to determine the cause of the oil burning on 2008+ models, there's a poll on 1000rr.net if you're interested. some people say it was due to the owners using non-standard oil, some people have said that the head gasket oil return galleys were too small on the original 08s, some say it was the way it was run in. either way, my 09 doesn't, others i know who have had 08s don't. I think you'll be safe to buy a '14.
thanks for the video!!! it's awesome. I have an 2008 CBR1000RR (about 17k miles on it). What is your recommendation on whether using Synthetic or Blend oil? I heard there will be clutch slippage if using synthetic. I think my previous mechanic used Motul oil but I am not sure which one. From Motul website, it recommends 10W30 7100 for my bike. But should it be 10W40? I live in Southern CA. Also, what is the best way to check the oil level? is there a difference if it's on or off the pitbull stand? I'm a little OCD when it comes to that. Thanks in advance for your advice.
All Honda's after 2006 call for 10w 30. It's because of the bearing tolerance in the engine. 10w 40 is too thick to properly lubricate. Pro Honda hp4s 10w 30 full synthetic oil (red bottle) is what you should be using. Motul 5100 synthetic blend comes in 10w 30 and Maxima Pro Plus full synthetic comes in 10w 30. Both of these are good and can also be used. I prefer Pro Honda hp4s 10w 30, it's outstanding!
I have two questions, I would appreciate it if you answer them. The first is, how old is your motorcycle? and the Second where I can buy a stand rear like yours?
Man, if your talking about the oil drain bolt? Shouldn't be that bad... it could be a bit "frozen" due to the "steel" bolt in the "aluminum" block; if there's a bit of corrosion when the two meet, there is a chance they get pretty stiff. But if you really can't get it, best to err on the side of caution and ride it over to your dealer. Take care
Hi. Just seen this vid. A dealer has a Repsol for sale near me. 2005. W/ 2200 miles. Ask is 13,500$. 🧐🧐🧐. I’m thinking about it. Great vid by the way. Well done.!! And that’s a nice Porsche. ✅
Everything is okay, but how you checked the oil level is incorrect! 1. Unscrew the Dipstick and clean it (how you did) 2. Put the dipstick in and replace it on the thread (don´t screw it) 3. Bring the motorcycle into a straight position (you testet it on the sidestand or the rear stand... thats not the normal operation position of the engine) 4. Pull out the dipstick and check the level here is a good graph: foto[DOT]arcor-online[DOT]net/palb/alben/24/1276124/3734666234663434[DOT]jpg dot= .

Thanks. The only other things I've done are the fender eliminator, Repsol tire hugger and the rear seat cowl. Thanks again for the comment.
Coolest oil change I've ever seen.
Nice bike that Repsol color just pops.
SmokinZen TRUTH
Did my oil change today. I used your video as an example. Brilliant, job done just like you did. Thanks
Thanks ehsan.

Newport- Great video! Thank you for great details and great use of video time lapse editing. A+ all the way! Ride safe
Thanks so much; I appreciate the positive comment!
Good video. Everything is clearly and clearly pleasant to look at. Continue to shoot the video.
Thanks Mr., just checked it out; thanks for posting. It's always fun to watch bikes; I don't care if its motoGP or an oil change LOL
nice everything (porsche, bike, house, pants...ect)
Thanks man, glad you like it!
Yeah Newport, you made it look so easy and very detailed. Appreciate the time and effort. Now sell me your bike or trade my CBR 954 for it??? LOL
You shouldn't check the oil level on the side stand, and you don't screw in the dip stick to check it either.
I know it's suppose to be in a upright position when checking and dip stick must not be screwed in, I guess this is ok?
One of my favorite bikes. Great job
Thanks a lot Jorge! take care
you bet cha! Thanks for the comment
Perfect job, that's how it's done.
A State Of Bikes thank you sir

That bike is sick.

I was debating the same two... I like the sound of the Yoshi much better (even though there isn't a huge difference). It's a slip on.
Owners manual says not to screw in the dip stick all the way to check oil. It's says just to seat it were it barley starts to screw in.
Thanks. I don't have the high beam on, just the low
Hey thanks so much SouthPark! Comment appreciated
Great video.. It really helped me out
Thanks a lot David

Do the new 2014 cbr1000rr burn oil like the old ones?

I have a 2014 and it is not burning oil at all not even a drop.
In 2008 certain Vin numbers ranges struggled with the oil burn issue.

the dip stick should be rested in position NOT SCREWED IN to check the level. Check level when on level ground and upright.
Everything is okay,
but how you checked the oil level is incorrect!
1. Unscrew the Dipstick and clean it (how you did)
