    these shoes saved my hiking and rock climbing season. I broke my pinky toe in April and TX4s were the only shoes I could wear... but they can do everything!

    Got the same for 2 years, and now it's time to take another pair, they are broken in the front from both sides, and replaced the laces 1 time. Firs shoes that I use for more than 1 year haha. The grip of this shoe is awesome. Excelent

    If you are in water a lot i recommend using a soldering iron to burn holes in the toe bumper when you cross a stream just point your toe down and a couple ounces of water will come squirting out. I burn 2-3 holes

    hoka speedgoat 5 trail runners have the same vibram mega grip outsoles. they grab granite like glue. great for scrambling up/down slabs, drainages and cross country passes here in the California Sierra Nevada. knit upper that breaths and drains water fast and cushioned for long days on the trail. I have used the speedgoat models exclusively for trail running and backpacking since discovering they use vibram megagrip but the speedgoat 5 is the best version by far.

    Have you hiked over snow covered glaciers with crampons? Will they get wet? A lot of hikes in Norway involve passing on glaciers…I live in Lørenskog outside of Oslo…

      Hei Emil! Too soft for Crampons, I have some La Sportiva Trango Tech GTX for use with crampons. They do get wet, but the grip is exceptional while wet.

    Great review! I've been looking for a shoe that I can do the long day hikes that range from flat dirt trails to long runs of boulders and scree. This one looks like a winner.

      Yes he does need new shoes lol, these shoes are amazing for slickrock and regular trails as well, super light and durable, no fatigue and no blisters.

    Thanks NX. Have been looking for a shoe to replace my Lone Peaks. I don't hike anywhere near as much as you do, but the soles wear out very fast. Had a pair of La Sportiva Bushidos that worked well so I might have to give these a try.

    Have you try Salomon X Ultra 3? I am trying to decided wether to go for Salomons or TX 4 although I am more inclined to the TXs due to their more technical capabilities.

    I love my TX4, but wish I would've got the TX3 just for water draining and quicker drying purposes. Next time once these wear out. Great review!

      Thank you, I love how solid the leather is though, never breaks. I have worn these on several water trips, Death hollow, Chute of Muddy Creek etc, and they are really great in water, they might not dry as fast as the tx3 though as you say.

      Norwegian Xplorer the leather is definitely very robust. My feet got soaked on a climb Sunday and fortunately I didn’t get any blisters as they fit so perfectly. They just take a while to dry. Almost two days. Could be trouble on a longer trip for sure.

      Norwegian Xplorer I do. There was just a ton of rain Sunday up here in NH. That combined with some bushwhacking certainly didn’t help. Haha

    thanks for the review! how fast do they dry? I am thinking that being upper leather shoes they may take a while to dry once water gets into them.

      Hey there, I have the leather version, but I also got the ultra raptors in goretex, which i like since its a bit more water proof, on the other hand the leather ones last longer

    Loved my first year on the TX4s.
    But, have you tried la sportiva boulder x ones? I think i might get them as the next ones !

      Not yet! I have been using the Ultra Raptor GTX as well this summer, they are not quite as grippy but better for wet weather.

      The boulder X are insanely heavy. They hike well and climb well but you cannot run well

    Great review.
    I'm looking for a new pair of light weight shoes that designed for the multi-purpose use of trail running, scrambling and hiking.
    how would you say the these TX4 compare too the
    Salomon X ALP spry gtx?
    I'm down to a direct choice between these two.
    I prefer quality and durability over price however
    the Salomon's are approx 40-50 British pounds less than the La Sportivas.

      Thank you, I have nothing but positive experiences with the TX4, in fact I am still using the old pair since its still not falling apart. These are amazing for scrambling and hiking, and the grip is better than my trail runners. I dont havr any experience with the Salomons.

    When it comes to the TX4, do they run true to size?
    I have been a Salomon guy and always have to go a size up because of how narrow they are (10.5 naturally).

      Yes thats where they excell, the Vibram Megagrip sole is amazing for... mega grip, lol, I have used them for up to 12 hour days.

      You will get very wet either way, but I would go with Goretex in Norway

    Hi, did you try any maintenance routine for them? Mine are almost new and I consider something like Nikwax Nubuk/Suede for example. It seems like a good idea but I'm worried about breathability in the summer.

      No havent done anything, they are leather, shouldnt be a problem with breathability I think

    Hey, thanks for the review. I'm also thinking about buying a pair of La Spo TX4, it looks like they're quite multi-purpose and do fine in hiking, scrambling, approaching and climbing. But it's hard for me to understand what's the difference with the TX Guide.

      I am not sure, I use the same size for all my LaSportiva shoes 43,5, not sizing up or down

    My left foot suppinates, and for sone reason the tx4s have 8x nearly caused an ankle sprain. YMMV.

    Don't you get pain from friction near the ankle ? That's my big issue with those.. like it's too tight where it close on your ankle

      I just did a 25 mile day with them in the sierras and no problem with any friction

      Have the same problem... I just came back from 25km hike and my ankles feel pretty bad. When my feet roll and bend over the ground the shoe starts to push on my ankle. I'm so sad because rest of the shoe feel super comfy but this one issue is destroying whole shoe

      This is all I use now, and mountaineering boots for....mountaineering, lol, when there is snow or ice and I need crampons.

    Hello! I would like to ask you something. How did you choose the size? I bought a pair of this la sportiva model, tx4, but I'm not sure about the size. They are not to tight or something, they fit perfectly, my finger did not touch the top of the shoes but is there, very close, but still, it feel confortable. I'm worried when I will hike if it will not hurt because the finger is so close to the top of shoes. Maybe I need a half bigger size?

      Let’s put it like that; if you would need to break in such light shoes, it’s definitely not the right shoe for you…. breaking in good shoes that shall and have to fit super well from the very beginning is a kind of fairytale that actually shouldn’t exist!

      @@NorwegianXplorer I have the Scarpa Crux, which is a great shoe except for the fact that the tongue keeps sliding over to the side. I've noticed some shoes have the tongue attached on three sides to the body to prevent this from happening. I'd love to find the approach shoe that also does this as I think it's a great idea.

      Gotya, this tongue on the tx4 does not slide, I have some ne Lasportiva ultra raptors where the tongue does that sliding thing, quite annoying
