Thank you for the review. I just bought and setup my TV and would have lost my mind on the 4k 120hz issue as that was one of the reasons of spending so much money on this model. It is odd that you have to choose between Dolby Vision and 4k 120hz but at least knowing the fact I won't lose hours on figuring out why I can't get both. This really is an amazing TV, I returned the LG C1 because of the HDCP 2.2 issue for newer models and I'm glad I did. Not worried about burn in with this and I can tell the color settings are way more accurate than the LG.

On the Xbox Series X, you can turn on auto low latency mode in the settings and it automatically sets it to game mode. Not sure if that tv supports that though, but it is a feature in that console

@@digitaltrends Hi Caleb, I have struggled so bad with a TV Choice & have watched countless reviews & have done as much research as possiable & asked lots of questions. I was stuck between sony A80j & samsung QN90A & sony X95j & then decided to buy a Sony 950H drove 3hrs away to a store that had it with my name on it only to find out they sold it so needless to say I was overly mad & who wouldn't be. I came home & kept searching & Finally ordered the X95J 65 inch & got it for $1379 cause of the deal with the 950H. I keep seeing & hearing negative & disappointing thigs about the X95J & it's a dissapointment. This is making me very worried about my purchace & wanna cancel it. Help me with your thoughts before it's shipped to me. Thank You in advance.

I've got 2 Sony tbs, 2015 4k android and a 2019 oled, each input has its own picture settting. E.g. for TV (Ariel) will have an individual settings, hdmi 1-4 will have their own, apps will have their own and apps (video) will have their own. So when you adjusted for the first time, they adjusted for apps, but TH-cam and Netflix are apps (video) hence why they didn't merge over. Ik complicated but also really useful as I like my TV set to standard, Netflix set to cinema and hdmi2 (xbox) set to game mode for lower latency
I were great experienced with truth view on Samsung hitron multi crt edition tv but after crt edition, I love Sony in terms of colour gamut and punchy RGB colour.i love digital trends ❤️

Hi great video, can I use the same settings for X90J?
I got my X95J and started to test some apps to include Netflix. One thing I found was that the movie Space Sweepers is very pixelated. Not sure why it happens on the X95J. I have tested the same movie on my TCL and it's clear. By the way, this movie is good to test Atmos and Vision.

Hi Caleb, thanks for this video. It definitely helped me set up my recently purchased x95l. I do have a question- does the x95l have a vignette effect near the edges in a bright scene? I checked an a80l at the store but didn't notice it there.

I’m upgrading my 55” Sony Bravia 4K that’s now 4yrs old since we moved into a new home. I have a 7ft x 8ft wall cut out that’s a little over 2.5ft deep. We’ve named it the TV Nook. We get a lot of natural light through 3 windows and a sliding glass door on the opposite wall to the TV. I know up front, glare is an issue in the house. I have a $3k budget for the new tv and wall mount and I’m got to make a custom entertainment center under the tv after it’s wall mounted as well as get a new home theater sound system. But one step at a time. I do game, but haven’t upgraded to next gen. Maybe a year away from that.
From your vid’s I’m torn between the Samsung QN90A, Sony X95J, and the LG. Which would you suggest or suggest another TV. Please help, looking to take advantage of some Black Friday specials.

Hey Caleb, I bought X95K 65 inches. Awsome TV. I think you and me have same taste for the picture settings. But i would like to have auto local dimming high. TV is awsome, money well spent. Cam you explain what is IMAX enhased mode? you need to do more Sony TV content.
If I turn motion flow to off on my x90j I notice significant microstutter. Mine was default off on dolby dark but set to 1 and 1 on dolby bright. Noticed the stuttering on dark so I matched the settings and it fixed it for me.

I just got a Hisense U7G and love it, but... Playing with the controls, I just can't seem to get it to "pop". I've seen reviews/comparisons where it is nearly OLED blacks with vivid brights and colors. It looks good, not GREAT.
Have you done a settings video on that model?
Do any of these tvs have web browsers that you can access to change settings? Would be useful.

I really like this TV I almost picked up the 75” but in the end the Sony A80J 77” took the win. Only thing that scares me is the screen is so thin looks incredible fragile. I’m scared to even touch it but the picture it LOOKS INCREDIBLE THE PICTURE. Keep in mind this is my first OLED EVER NO REGRETS YET. Hopefully it does well years to come.

That's great Hector. I am just so worried about burn-in so just went with the X95J. No question the OLED will give you amazing contrast. The A90J totally blew me away when I saw it at BB.
@@asafblasbergvideographer X95J is the number one LCD TV this year and last year and annihilated the QN90A in real life content. The QN90A on pulls a head with static test and on paper. A proper calibrated x95j isnt far off from the best OLED for real life tests. Better then the a80j but behind the a90j
I keep waiting for the smartest tv in the world to be released because I am colorblind so every time i see you fly through the settings it terrifies me and then I am convinced all over again that I will be watching my 30 year old tv forever lol
Bought X90J and calibrated like this, and then calibrated the PS5 hdr, but noticed that HDR tone mapping was set to gradation preferred.
Do we turn off that setting before calibrations or is the same?

Sony X95J 75in is $2299 at Best Buy right now, thats a great price for a good display, 85in is $3499 which is also a good price, thanks for a detailed settings review Caleb, take care.

@@shamarlawrence9429 yeah the problem I have with the X95J is it doesn't get even close to brightness of a Samsung qn90a at a mere 1200 nits.....and any size under 75" has no anti- reflective or wide viewing angle coating...it literally bounces the light back at ya worse than an Oled

Hi I recently purchased this TV and the wide mode is grayed out. So content that's not 4k has huge bars on both ends about 3inches bottom and top. I know if you widen the picture you lose a bit of it but the option is not available. To me defeats the purpose of 85" there seem to be a very high percentage of movies and shows. Do you know how to get full screen?
I know they are vastly different, but similar in some ways. However, can these settings apply to the X90J?

Bought one on a great deal but I'm having mixed feelings.
The screen has a lot of hallos right on the first setup menu but when I start playing content the local dimming turns on and they mostly dissappear...

If I’m watching sports like soccer or football, wouldn’t I want the motionflow on? I was thinking the motionflow would benefit fast moving objects like sports and would assist making things like soccer balls look smother and more detailed. Am I missing something?
According to Rtings, motion smoothing on custom (with smoothness set to min, as it is in the custom picture mode) is just converting the native 60p signal into a 24fps video, as intended. They say it doesn't add any motion smoothing at all, and is necessary to prevent unintended judder. Are they wrong about this?
I try to do what you said but I keep having problems it keeps returning the settings to back to where they were like if it was on vid I changed the cinema like it's going back on vivid it won't save how do you save the settings so you D have to keep doing it on the Telly on a blu-ray or 4K it just won't save how do you save it

I'm having an issue with the x95j when playing games on the xbox series X, whenever I move the camera in game black objects become darker during motion then return to normal when I stop moving, it's driving me nuts, I've tried messing with almost every setting I can think of in an attempt to find the problem but haven't figured it out yet, I upgraded from a Samsung Q80T because it was also doing it and assumed it was the TV but now the X95J is doing the same thing, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have question to Gaming with Xbox Series X. Just installed it and on HDMI 3 when i use enhanced format (dolby vision) every game goes in dolby vision but not in game mode - so its not playable

Don't you need the light sensor on for DV IQ? On the LG C1 you have to leave the AI brightness control on to use it.
I have the A80J and switching over to the X95J due to the a80j oled back light being too dark hiding many of the fine details in dark scenes. Was at BB to exchange since theres a 15 day policy and Sony Rep happened to be there, ran demos side by side (A90J oled / X95J) I honestly struggled to see the difference even while Sony Rep tried pointing it out for over 30 minutes in different demos even in PS5 game play. The difference is just too minimal which surprises me! I'm an honest first-hand experience testament that the X95J is the closest thing to oled the Sony line has out currently.
i got lg c1 and the black details are lacking. im thinking if i should get x95j instead. the oled crushes alot of the blacks.

What about "Adv. contrast enhancer"? I use it sometimes, from low to medium. Curious to know why you prefer it at "off".

Keep in mind there is no Dolby Vision game mode on Sony TVs. So input lag is around 150ms, which is unplayable for most games. Enhanced mode for 120hz is strongly recommended for most people with most games.
are there any games that actually support Dolby vision?
Thank you very much for bringing that up. In most videos and especially reviews of the X95J there is no mention of that at all! Was a deal breaker for me personally.

So you can enable dolby for any HDR game and it will enable some form of dolby vision but it's not mastered specifically for dolby to take full advantage?
Would it look better in dolby mode than in standard HDR10?
@@Janjibro66 no, not all HDR games go to DV on the Xbox. But the ones that do were all originally graded in HDR and then converted to DV.
DV has more posterization than HDR10, and no current advantage aside from 10,000nit grades (Microsoft flight simulator) so I do not recommend playing DV yet even on LG TVs. I'll be testing Halo infinite tonight in DV to see how it does.
I wonder what about imax enhanced? Use it with bravia core. 😅

Can you do an X90J one? I feel like a lot of consumers bought x90js this holiday season. There's one other guy who was talking so fast and about stuff normal consumers wouldn't know. Can we just get a video where you show how regular people who have their TV's in their livingrooms (not in total darkness) should have their settings to get the most of their TV's...
I concur. I just got the X90J too and max brightness is such an eye sore even for HDR content.

Best led tv 2021, I bought my from local Best Buy store a display sell off 65” for $1091 so happy with it! If you want to play with setting google it on TH-cam video X95j if have some tv reviewers teach you how
Do I leave HDR on auto HDR10 or HLG which is better for sky Q I think sky has HDR but not HDR 10
I've tried these settings and are great but when it comes to sport when turning motion off its really got a judder and not smooth, any advice? Maybe someone can try it as I did if you go on TH-cam and search football aka soccer highlights in 1080p.

nope there isn’t LOL technically your getting a x900H with HDMI 2.1 LOLOL since both tvs have newest processor go with X90j, it does have worse dark corners and blooming, but they actually rated colors little higher on x90j

I'm pretty sure the uk version has the back-lit remote too
@@korndog81 that stuff was so close the brightness wasint even noticeable with SDR content, so it’s side by side maybe x90j being a 8/10 and x95j being a 8.5/10 hardly any difference, and like i said people was actually saying HDR color looked more rich on the x90j, but x95j also has wide angle viewing which does hinder stuff
