    I absolutely love my A80J 77” OLED and couldn’t go back to LCD. The blacks and some colors like green, blue and red are still better than the X95J from what I can see in this review. Core Bravia is great for taking advantage of the TV’s full potential, the hi res streaming is stunning, I wish there was a way to get more credits. One needed feature all OLEDs should have is the anti reflective screen but not the mate screen. Who buys a large high end TV and still uses the TV speakers or a sound bar?

    I just bought the 75 inch X95j. I primarily watch movies and sporting events, and I really couldn't describe to anybody regarding how good (or bad) the black levels are. What I do know is that the picture is incredibly sharp and the colors are vivid and bright. Additionally, the sound quality is much improved over my old Sharp TV and Bose 5 soundbar. Bottom line, the output from the soundbar is just not as good as the X95j's speakers. Thus, I am enjoying both the picture and the added sound clarity/quality. I like my new TV, and have no buyer's remorse. One sour point, the (above) review states that the included remote has a backlit feature. My remote does NOT. While not a deal breaker, .. it does tick me off.

      What kind of remote do you have ? Did yo try to turn the remote light on by press volume down and Home buttor for 5 seconds ?

    • @silk8188
      @silk8188 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kuba_cichocki I believe its the standard (made in China)Sony remote that came with the TV. No markings on outside other than "Sony". At your suggestion I did press the volume down and Home button for 5 seconds. No help, .. just reduced the sound 5 or 6 seconds. Under the cover I found the following: "TX520U". This remote is OK, .. not nearly as bad as some would lead you to believe. However, it does not measure up to the picture or sound quality of the TV itself.

    I noticed that on your Sony line-up at the beginning of the video, it didn't include the X94J. I just wanted to find out if there was a reason for not including it. Also you cannot buy the X94J direct from Sony website, but you can buy it from the Sony shop. Its very confusing. I would have thought the X94J would be better than X90J since it has richer colours. Any insight would be appreciated :)

    Best Buy advisor told me that sound from Sony Bravia XR 65X95J goes through the screen! Reviews mention low volume.
    How well does screen sound sound? how does it work through the picture screen? Is there volume issue? BTW, I already have the Sony Bravia XR 55 X90J since summer 2021: to go into my bedroom or to store it. My living room kitchen is 19" x 13" 1 1/2" so a Sony 65" would be great for a bigger screen on a wall in my vaulted ceiling l-k combo room.

      They have pixel shifting for static images so I’m not sure how anyone gets burn in lol by the time you would in like 5 years it would already be time to get a new tv since tech advances so quick, it’d be outdated. My A9G has been going strong, never turned off since launch in 2019 with no burn in but I’m ready to sell it already for the A95K

      @@michaeldavis6550 as someone who owns an A8H oled and who oversees merchandising/displays at a large national electronics retailer in the US, don’t let burn in be a hesitation for you. I game EXTENSIVELY on my oled, haven’t had even a hint of burn in after two years and the oleds at my store (all brands) are NEVER turned off (seriously, ever, they are on 24/7/365) and even after that level of extreme, negligent abuse running the same demo reels non stop, they still look fine. Ironically it’s mostly the Samsung q series line (all of them, q60 straight through to the 900) that have been nothing but problems this past year with backlights burning out completely or becoming so bad that you can easily tell it’s a problem from 50-70 feet away.

      @@CaptainMauzer Thank you for the explanation & information. Burn in risk is still a chance you knowingly take when purchasing a Oled. I have a samsung Galaxy phone that has the keyboard now burned into the screen of my phone & won't go away. How the hell did that happen I ask myself all the time. Oled also dosent fit my lifestyle. I have a bright living room & windows all around so viewing during the day can be challenging at times even with a LED. One thing I've never liked is watching a movie or TV period in the dark. Oh that's not me at all. Oled just hasent fit my style of viewing even tho I wish it did. In February I was struggling bad with a decision between the Sony X95J or the Samsung QN90A & almost bought the QN90A but after seeing dark scenes where the QN90A lost detail in dark images where you could totally make them out on the X95J so that's what I bought & I fell so in love with the X95J that it forced me to upgrade another TV in the family room that I couldn't afford so I bought a 65in Sony X90J also & didn't like it until I spent more time with it & dialed it in. Maybe someday I could have a Oled if it would ever fit me better but I now feal truly blessed to own 2 great TV'S. Listening to all the talk & frustration & excitement over the new Samsung S95B makes me wanna own one tho. If your work at a large electronics retailer you must know that's my dream. I've always wanted to work around electronics & Tv's & help others when making a tough choice for their use case. Love knowing all about all the models & what they offer. I wanna work in the field really bad. I've never had best buy call me back & it's really what I wanna do. It's a passion & I study the tech all the time even when not in the market because I love it so much. Wish I lived in new York because I would so love to work for Value Electronics. Amazing company & Owners.

The x95j is absolutely stunning and in a pitch black room in is a tick behind the a80 in contrast but that is it. Don't believe the hype of OLED unless you have a home theater and plan to replace your TV every 3-4 years. Top of the line FALD LED TV can match black levels of OLED if you're settings are correct.
    For the X95J, set local dimming on high, gamma at the lowest setting, max out black levels and set peak luminance according to content. If you want OLED black and watching content with dark background, set peak luminance to low and brightness to 0 to 20. If watching HDR content, set tone mapping to Brightness Preferred. Set to gradation preferred if you want to eliminate even more blooming. These settings will eliminate 90-100% of the blooming on dark backgrounds when watching in total darkness. If you watch tv with ambient light in the background, blooming isn't even a topic.
    For all other content watched in the evening and at night, set peak luminance to medium and brightness to 35. For daytime, sun blasting through the windows, set picture to vivid or standard with peak luminance to high and max out brightness. For the best picture quality, turn off motion. Turn off both noise reduction unless you're watching low res content like OTA. Set smooth gradation to low. CineMotion to high for high res and low for crap res. Everything else to taste. With these settings, you got yourself a mighty 2in1, LCD/OLED combo but with no image retention and having to baby it to avoid burn in. OLED is like having an expensive fast car with the rev limiter set at 3k rpm. Joy!?!?
    For the people who thinks these settings are not accurate, well i got some news for you. Unless you're
    using your massive 65+ inch tv as a monitor for editing content, color accuracy is the last thing you want from a " tv ". The majority of people buying 65"+ tv are using them to watch vivid, eye popping content. Not dull and boring "color accurate" BS! Yes, color accuracy has it's place and that's before it gets to the end user, "us tv watchers". It needs to be boring and washed out so our tv can upscale the shit out of it and blast it with color.
    I will switch to OLED when they can match the brightness of the average LCD without having to replace it after 3 years.

  • @loki76
    @loki76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    3:40 The LED seems to be the clear winner in that example of the leaves.. The OLED is just one uniform green color.. Clearly in the proper image you can see there is far more nuance and color gradients happening in that image. There are various levels of green and even yellow showing the age of the leaves and color differences.. I highly doubt it's because the LED somehow cannot present the uniform green like the OLED can. Especially since we can see in the upper left corner the leaves have the same green there. So in this example the OLED is presenting a false image. It might be vibrant green, but it's NOT the real thing you'd see in real life..
    OLED can be fantastic, but it's not presenting a proper real image. It's presenting an artificial image and contrast. Out in real life you seldom see "pure black" against another object. So that is the problem with OLED IMO.. Don't get me wrong, OLED presents a better image and color often times. But as this image shows, it also does it totally wrong. But people are conditioned into thinking it's always correct.
