I have the identical knife except I was lucky enough to get the 20CV, I have never been a big fan of S35VN. Some is done better than others depending on the company`s heat treat.

It might be unfair to call the heat treat "bad" (12:36) based on sharpening. I got my knife the same time you did but have carried it more than you without noticing any issues with edge retention, corrosion, or toughness.Certainly nothing to make me think S30V or S35 would be a better choice. I have noticed the tip wanders a bit from the main grind line resulting in a slightly off-center tip. The rest of the fit and finish is spot on. No blade play. It would be a tough choice for me b/w this knife, Sebenza 21 inlay, Caly 3 ZDP, and a custom Tobin Smith with Westinghouse micarta.
Edit: please, no thumbstuds. There are better opening methods than a metal stud shoved in a hole in the blade that blocks using the full blade length for deep cuts.

He makes a batches of these, where I assume he heat treated multiple blades at a time. I could have a bad heat treat and you could have a good one. It is impossible to have the same heat treat of every blade.
On the note of thumb studs, I like them because they are simple, and you don’t have any issues with ergonomics like you get with a flipper tab in between your fingers. I would also be happy with a thumb hole. Thanks for watching

Hi, interesting video. 20cv, I have a Protech Mordax, the Ferrum forge design. 20cv, do you think their 20cv is decent over the board or inconsistent. I saw your Protech and you have more knives in hand. I guess I know the answer but I'm just thinking a fair amount of cash please tell me positive stuff. Have a good day

The thing about 20cv is that it seems like custom maker are the only ones who can get consistent results. My Malibu feel decent which is a good sign for other models, but I feel like there is always a chance you get a soft steel. Thanks for watching

I despise sharpening 20cv and m390. I'll take s30v all day over it.
