Man after reading these comments and hearing your story I realized I must of really got lucky. Mine came centered and perfect. Good action, super sharp, good even grind and lock up is early but good. Even my liners look all good and clean and nothing like yours. Makes me wonder if maybe the maker is just not into it anymore and is starting not to care about the little things, which in this world the little things are the big things. Anyways good honest video. I enjoyed it.

I can’t get mine centered to save my life. I’ve tried everything and it’s not just a little off, it’s as far as it can go without rubbing. The action isn’t good and it has a little lock stick. I bought it on the secondary so I guess it’ll go in a drawer. Mine is v5.
I have the marbled carbon fiber v6. I must have gotten lucky because the only complaint I had was the drag or grind as you describe. I don't think it's the bearings though. I think it's the detent ball ridding on the stonewashed blade finish or the lock bar riding on the blade. Looking at yours disassembled you can see the track on the blade where the detent ball is supposed to ride is a lot wider than the detent ball and the lock bar shinny by the detent ball. Makes me think it's been riding on the blade. I bet if you polished the blade where the detent rides and trim the lock bar so it doesn't ride on the blade it would fix your issues.
Yeah it definitely would, putting the bearings in took 80% away now the detent just needs to break in all the way which will happen over time, it's smooth enough for me to be satisfied and I don't mind feeling it get smoother everyday
Good review. I hope the manufacturer sees it, as well as these comments. They clearly have potential, at least SOME of the knives are great, but I wouldn't buy one when it seems like such a die roll.

You should give a shot I'm more than happy with my purchase and get a hold of Gillian for the bearings I think it's worth the investment on many knives

The fact that this knife has only existed for like a year and is already on its 6th revision is a pretty big red flag in itself. Constant quality improvement is one thing, but this seems rushed to take advantage of the sudden popularity when this knife came out.
You're not the first person I've heard had problems. Mine came with no problems at all. It was a little ruff opening when I first got it but it just needed wearing in. The blade is bead blasted and then stone washed. Once I opened it a bunch, and gave the detent time to smooth a track, it really smoothed out. I feel lucky mine is so good.

First of all ,i cant believe he didn't claen up the new liners,i have the v4 version,i love the micata and the egomonics of this knife. The detent on mine was so hard,it was tearing up my finger.took it apart and adjusted the detent. Wprks perfect now.but has a bit of up and down movement 0n blade after opening.on facebook it shows his kids helping to make the knives,maybe thats the problem,but i will keep the knife

Bro. I hear what you're saying. But a titanium liner lock is not typically great. Unless you're a beast at carbadizing liners. So a hardened steel liner is much better. Which is why most frame locks in ti have inserts. Just a better lock design
Yeah that's fine I obviously trust the maker, but I'm just saying why I wanted it and why I bought it, I'm still happy with the purchase and I'm not saying it's not worth every penny and more, I'm just being honest about the appeal to me
I picked up the exact same version as yours, v6 red micarta, a couple months ago. It wasn't centered then and I knew that purchasing it. After carrying and using for 2 months, it is perfectly centered and have had zero issues.
My humble opinion is it is simple and effective and benefits from breaking in usage.

Mine is now working perfectly, everything has smoothed out very well, and the lock up is super solid im much happier
had him replace the blade on my V6 WHARNCLIFFE and it came back with horrible lock stick and if I pull the blade like a slip joint it will not lock, took it apart cleaned it out and got rid of the Sharpie he uses, it helped a little bit but still lock stick and lock up issues.
Reminds of the Feldspar with a touch of Elementum.

Wow that’s crazy because I have one and mine had the same exact issues as yours. It basically came back from Mr. Martin worse than the way it was when I first sent it in to him for lock rock and when I got it back the lockup barely locked up and was super gritty. I will say that it did work itself in and is a lot better than was, but it’s still not great. It’s honestly the on only knife I don’t even like to carry anymore and I really wanted to like this knife. I’ll have to try some Gillian’s bearings in mine to see if the action gets any better. What size bearings does it take ?
Also if you change the bearings if you contact me on Instagram il tell you how to get your detent track smooth so its not gritty at all and super smooth

Nice mirror finish edge. S35vn not too easy to sharpen. Kind of a harder than 440 stainless steel. I like the s90 and the s45vn. It holds the edge and the mirror on it. I was thinking after some use maybe give it a few strops 10 on each side. I like the s35vn I was wondering why it had some rust spots on it on my ZT even a few spots on the mirror finish 😢. Of course I'm going to clean it up and make it look like new but that is very concerning that s35vn rust on me
Glad to see a successful American company but for me personally it’s just to plain Jane looking. I hope he expands with more exciting models.

I had a horrible example of this knife and even sent it back to abw and he claimed to fix the horrible lockstick and also the blade was warped... he then sent the knife back to me with the same bent blade and made the detent a 9.2/10 in exchange of fixing the lockstick.. I said f all this and won't ever buy another knife from that guy.

Make sure you keep the lock face cleaned and swabbed to minimize lock stick. I appreciate how vanilla this one looks, and I think ABW is a company to watch

Fixing issues on your own is a great thing that your able to do. On the other hand having to send a knife in for repairs, spend money on shipping, and it coming back in worse shape and then you spend more money and time to fix the issue, new bearings (fairly easy) and lockup problems (not so easy), and more money and time to see if the issue is resolved. Not to mention replacing a selling point of the knife with a different material. Not many people willing to jump through all the hoops to get something repaired. Could hear your voice throughout the review and it definately wasn't your usual voice when you are talking about something you like and enjoy to use. It was a disappointed voice and one we don't hear very often. The most simple fix he could have done was just to add a lock bar insert into the titanium would have taken care of lock rock and blade locking issues IMO and then the customer still has what they paid for. I hated hearing your voice so disappointed during the review. keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

It is a midtech, and i do think hes doing an incredible job considering all the hand work, my hat goes off to him
@@NeevesKnives yeah I don’t want to seem like I’m dogin him because I love USA makers as well. Just seen many issues like this and it is super popular. Maybe he could look into what may be a weak spot for him right now and really produce quality products out the door that don’t have issues that need fixing all the time in the future.
I have a model 1 v7 that is perfect in all respects, I got lucky or they got better.
