Spyderco Native Chief EDC Update: Why Do People Not Like This Knife?
1000 grit is great but ideally i would go 2000 or 3000 on western knives and 5000 plus on anything with 61 hrc or more. 1000 with a 5 micron stop will get anything razor sharp.
If this is a lightweight, where do I find a regular weight knife? I don’t see them anywhere!
The 21 is great, but prefer the change to the single piece inlay on the 31s.
I have their medium and fine stone pretty good stones but I don’t think anyone needs a stone this ultra fine stone or even the fine version as the medium stone by itself gets a knife hair popping sharp 🤷♂️.
.......and discontinued.
i think the omegas break when people try to pull back with just 1 stub, versus using both stubs. when i got my 940, yes i played with it alot and broke a spring after a month. changed them once and have held up for the last year. but i also use it non stop all day. i believe if you upgrade the scales to after market g10. it would become more firm and remove the blade play. i'm really thrilled with my first benchmade.
I think everything you don’t like about the Emerson knife is exactly what Ernest Emerson was designing his knives to be. It is not a fidget knife. Emerson designed it to withstand punishment. If that is not what you want don’t get an Emerson.
Been thinking about getting myself one. I’m a leftie n hear most of the retailers have them in stock a lil longer.. I also appreciate large n small knives but thinking of leaning toward a large one with a wood inlay
It´s a good stone but still a bit coarse to be the only stone for people who care about having sharp knives. There are people who use their knives untill they don´t cut anything anymore but those usually use pull through sharpeners or stuff like that. People who care about keeping their knives sharp and would even watch videos about sharpening stones, usually just want to touch it up the edge when it starts becomming dull. These people would benefit from using the Naniwa Aotoishi, the green brick of joy. It´s the only stone I need for maintaining my knives. It´s splash and go, it´s reasonably fast and it leaves a near polish edge. It´s also tall and heavy enough, so you need no holder. My knives never become so dull that I need a 1000 grit stone.
Dude, this looks *fantastic!* :D Great job!!
I just got mine... One thing really bothers me is that when the knife is in close position... You can almost feel the tip with your finger.
Excellent review of your collection. Great job .
Cardboard lol
I did the same thing to my pm2 with a ceramic rod
PM2 for me
Any thoughts on Spyderco Cruwear vs Benchmades?
I’ve still got one factory edge never used it my hand is to small what are they worth now ?
You certainly do “ramble on a lot.” I’ve never had a lockback on a knife fail. The only failures that I’ve experienced were on liner lock knives. I bought 2 Dragonfly2 knives in VG10 and one hasn’t been out of its box yet because the other is indestructible and having so much fun being a knife..!!
For some absurd reason 1000 is out of stock everywhere in my country. The others arent. Weird.
I’ve had a Sebenza 25 for some eight years and it has good durability. It’s engineering is flawed however. My peeve is the stop pin. When I first cleaned and reassembled I didn’t notice the stop pin has a milled flat surface on one area which has to face the pivot for clearance. The scimpy instructions didn’t mention it. I needed better instructions and less decals and shop cloth in the box. It was a pain to realize the stop pin needed an adhesive to keep the knife from jamming like a 1911 with a bad mag. I’ve learned to live with it and the quality materials are the good part of the package. But, I won’t try another. Chris was already gone when they produced the 25 and my modernized Buck 110 cuts as well and feels better while working with its wider grip.
If you need a new reblade for a 21 how does that work if they don’t offer the 21s anymore?
The only thing I hate about the PM2 is the nob between the forward choil and the edge. It is oversized.
Sorry for my spelling corrector i meant neeves knives not nerves heh !!
I think it's fine to do back and forth motion theoretically it is faster ad long as you just do cutting strokes once you get to fine stone or x fine your ok I think doing that nerves knives is good site heck him out all the best
Thank you for your video and all the good advice . Please can I ask if you have any idea if the ceramic stone on the worksharp trihone or tri stone benchsharpener would fit on the guided sharpener I realise it just a tiny bit shorter ie 2ml shorter ? If not I'll just buy a separate ceramic stone I just get the impression ceramic us a nice progression just before stropping . Cheers from uk Dave
I like the Zaan the most. Because it's very raw and overall a very good knife. The studs are placed further back, so they are not in the way with slicing stuff. Never thought that I would like it that much. And I'm in love with the blade shape of the Zaan. The tip, together with that swedge, is very good for stabbing. Crk is definitely my favorite knife brand.
And, the thumb studs won’t jam the blade like a stop pin can.
This is a great cutter!?
It' pinned not screwed, older model. Classic
I don't get deep carry clips either
Plain edge for processing meat and vegetables. Serrated for everything else.
Police model?
Seen bad sharpening on most of my Spydercos, Microtechs, some Protechs. Oddly enough most of my competing Chinese knives are perfect in comparison.
Lol apples!
The name of the knife is on the handle 🤭
This seems like such a goofy knife to buy. I honestly have no idea why anyone would buy one of these. 250ish for a 3 finger knife that doesn't have impeccable fit is wild to me.
If you like button lock flippers you should try a Medford Smooth Criminal. I gotta get one of these Malibu too. Good vid.
One year later….I have all three…AND I’m on the four year wait for the Sebenza 31 Magnacut with inlay ( burl maple) dual studs
Zaan is the best imo. it’s just an overbuilt timeless piece of machinery that looks amazing.
So what do you think about the new one piece inlays on the new version 31s?
Modifying knives can result in problems, as you will already know. Don't know why I commented tbh 😂
great size, amazing blade shape, sadly the liner lock is a disqualifier. would've been perfection if it had compression lock or lock back.
I usually just keep the stone soaked in thing of water and pull it out and just splash water on it to keep it wet while sharpening
Lost my ludt to a trash compactor Friday the clip grabbed some trash and vanished from my pocket 😢rip buddy
I am acquiring one these (the Salt version) in Magnacut steel....😉
I love all my spydercos but if I could only keep one it would probably be my para3 lw. It's just so insanely lightweight and compact 🙂
Didn’t mention that the Inkosi is also a front flipper
Because it's not. 😂Who tf front flips a Reeve?! C' mon now funny guy
Just got mine it’s perfect. I think you got a dud
I remember the first knife I made out of Cambodian black star and use a Sharpton whetstone to make my first killing in a while with my friends and family when they were young so we had a good laugh
The original Umnumzaan has a much more comfortable lock bar that people complained they could not close but they just needed to break it in and it helps to use the pad of your thumb to close it. I’ve had several Umnumzaan and different versions and the original from 2008 up to part 2009 is the best
You miss the whole point of the knife mate. It's a masterpiece for what it's design for. One of a kind.
