- How To Delete Pending Windows Updates In Windows 10/8/7.
There may be times when your Windows Update may give you problems on your Windows 10/8/7 computer. You may even see Pending Windows Updates which refuse to install for some reason in spite of several attempts. In such cases you should consider deleting the failed and pending Windows Updates which are downloaded incompletely to your computer and then try to restart installation once again as soon as you restart your computer.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

Thank you dear. It worked perfectly. God bless you.
I just got a new Mini Dell with Windows 10 Pro 21HI from a friend who own a computer repair shop. With Windows he gave me Microsoft Office 2007, full addition. I only asked for Word and Excell when he ordered it. As you know a bunch of updates came in and one of them was a Windows Verified App. When I chose to except the updates, it asked to accept it and then went into an error. I was left with all these updates pending. The first thing I did was I unistalled all the Office except Word and Excell then I found this video on how to get rid of the pending updates. I followed the steps and it worked! I was unshackled!
Thank you so much. You saved me a lot of time taking it back into the shop.😄
it is a seldom occasion when a youtube video makes your day. This is one of them. My father runs an old laptop on Win7 and a stuck update took ages to try, fail and roll back every time the system restarts. it has been quite a relief after finding this recipe. Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
I had a pending Windows 11 upgrade on restart. Took a while to find your video, other videos took a way more complicated route. Following your steps completely removed this unwanted upgrade. Thanks so much.
Glad it helped!
Lifesaver! Worked perfectly, my laptop kept getting stuck in a boot loop and forcing restart but all perfect now
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You are my new hero! This video is spot on and resolved the issue on both my computers! The confusing issue was... Windows updates was shown as turned off... yet the updates stayed on the shut-down button. It drove me nuts! Now my shut down and restart is Normal! Thank you again!
You're welcome!
Thanks! I had this very annoying Windows Explorer 11 update which failed to install every time I shut down my Windows 7 laptop - I have spent the last few days trying various 'solutions' to get rid of it - none worked except yours - thanks again for your help MDTechVideos!
You're welcome!
After doing this, and resetting my PC. There is still a pending restart for an update under start > Settings > Update & security. How do I remove that pending restart? Also, disabling updates never seems to work, it always just turns itself back on so I don't know why MS even has it as an option.
I know this is an old video but thankyou very much for making it. I had a pending update that was trashing my old HTPC Windows 10 machine, and like shit stuck to my shoe I could not stop it from constantly trying to reinstall itself. I've now disabled all updates permanently, MS is a joke.
Thanks so much for this, it helped me stop windows 11 from pending the update
Glad it helped
Nope. Still stuck with a list of failed updates. Checked, double checked, triple checked. No matter now many times I disable BIS and Windows Update service and go into Software Distribution and clear that cache I still have a list of failed updates waiting for me on the reboot.
Most helpful, even in the Windows 8.1 / Classic Shell environment. Thanks.
Glad I could help!
Thanks, just what I needed, the update was giving me a BSOD and unrepairable without System Restore.
