      couldn't agree more, and the annoying bug that you somehow glide everytime you jump on it make it more dangerous than having to raid the fort, after i got staff of wilderness i only source my flametal from the fort because the flametal spire is more dangerous, the bug, the occasional lava spit and Valkyrie surprise.

      Either that, or the the flametal u dont break, breaks by the lava but will only give 1x per node destroyed compared to the 3-4 u get from pickaxing

    I was one of those players that found it impossibly hard to begin with. I'd always played melee and magic skills were 0. I wasn't using spawn suppression either. With the short days and high respawn rates it was very hard to progress into the biome. It was bad enough it took me 5 boats before I got a foothold on the beach. I wanted to give up. I felt like Valheim was no longer the game for me. The impression I got was "others are doing fine, you're just bad". I'd always played original settings with no mods or modifiers. I didn't call for nerfs, I was ready to accept it was no longer for me.
    I didn't give up though. I made the rest of my staves, I already had embers staff and mage armor, I think my elemental magic was 11. That was it. So I looked up a video on magic leveling. Spent a few days away from the Ashlands and leveled elemental and blood to 30 of the recommended 60. I took healing and eitr meads, and...what a difference. I tore up that place. Until my magic got low again.
    I've had to step away again cause I'm in the middle of moving house and I was doing more playing than packing, but when I can finally get back on I'll level up my magic again and go again.
    Even though I'm now somewhat on top of it, I think the nerfs are welcome. I really feel like it was originally tuned for the group experience and heavy reliance on magic. now melee players might have a better chance and it opens things up slightly to more players than most realise.

    "flametal spires will no longer submerge when mined"
    Thank god. I was tired of having to sacrifire 75%+ of flametal because valkyrie said no. I'd honestly rather have them resurface or make those stupid birds not appear immediatly after the first pickaxe strike.
    Honestly I just hate valkyries. It's impossible to run away from them. I don't mind the hard-hitting attacks, but the simple claw attack is just stupid. Full sprint with light armor penalty and it's too slow to avoid the simplest attack? I'd rather fight a stared morgen.

    As far as I understand, the change for the flametal pillars is due to a bug where the player would get stuck on the pillar and not being able to get off it when it submerges. In some cases, even having the headstone not being accessible anymore. So this would be more of a bandaid fix until they figure out how to deal with it.

      @grimmcoregames that's too bad. Some stress involved and wanting to optimize the mining and extraction was actually rewarding, instead of it being just a grind like other metals. There is plenty of metal going around with all the pillars and the fortresses. Not being able to finish a pillar is no big deal. A setting to stop sinking could work, both for these and the leviathans.

  • @arthanor9631
    @arthanor9631 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +30

    I don't feel like I'm a hardcore player, but I went solo on the initial release and managed a stable landing after the first patch. I think it is difficult and enjoyable as it is, and was a bit too much back then. If you understand the mechanics to prevent spawning, it is very doable to secure a landing zone and go from there. Now that they fixed the food so you can cook stuff without metal, you should be able to sustain yourself in the Ashlands, with a farm in your previous base.
    Making the mobs spawn further away and not immediately aggro would help with securing an area while still making fights big and hectic if you run around. With more delays and lower total mob numbers, the feeling the devs wanted of "being at war" will be lost. Ashlands was fun because the feeling was pushing against the charred, not just slowly grinding progression. Lowering combat challenge and making mining easier is a step in the wrong direction for me.
    And no, I can't just crank up difficulty to compensate, because higher difficulty changes the game balance (more mob damage means blocking is now useless, more mob health means you never stagger them), not the mob density. However, decreasing the difficulty was a solution for anyone struggling. If you kill enemies faster, you will have time to catch your breath and if they don't hit as hard, you will die less and need less time to catch your breath.

    • @lamebubblesflysohigh

      I had to make like 10 ugly pillars with hoe and put workbenches on top of them just to not waste half of the in-game day by clearing mobs from where I landed my ship and built my portal every time I go to Ashlands. It makes progression tedious and unfun. I completed everything up to this point without cheesing it on default difficulty but the current state wants me to either not play at all or just cheese it with building these pillars every couple of meters where nothing can reach me and I can spawn-proof it for future with a workbench. It is not good imho. First 2 minutes in Ashlands are harder than the last boss.

      @@lamebubblesflysohigh raising the ground to build a safe spot for your portal and stuff is not cheesing, I just finished beating it solo and didn't have to cheese anything. If the ashlands was easy ud probably hate it more

    • @lamebubblesflysohigh
      @lamebubblesflysohigh 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@dirtbagpsn740 yea doing it here and there to make a base is ok but literally having to spam these pillars just to prevent mobs from non-stop spawning and immediately aggroing on me the moment I step out of portal is over the top. I know how to fight in this game, that is not the problem. My problem is having to do it nonstop because by the time I finish killing the last one, new ones are spawning and when I finally get to "that ruin over there" it it is already almost night. That is ridiculous and in my opinion tedious/unfun. I don't mind fighting hoards of enemies but give me some time to look around when I kill them. The most effective strategy I have found since yesterday is to just ignore mobs and run past them until I either encounter askvin or something interesting at which point I pillar up and kill anything that followed me with magic, quickly discard unwanted loot and run past everything that spawned again to next point of interest... in MY OPINION this is bad game-play loop and it would be better if spawn rate or spawn time was tuned down.

    It’s skill drop death penalty that gets me. Progression into new Biomes has always been difficult. They just need to tweak the spawn rates. I don’t think that we should be fighting 3 Morgens and 2 Valkyries at the same time. Especially when all I’m doing is picking Fiddleheads.

    I can help fill people in on the Xbox side of things: My friends and I are in love with this game, flaws and all, and the #1 issue is still frame rate. I have never seen this game run over 17 fps. I play Valheim despite this, but the great majority of the difficulty doesn't come from the spawn rates, enemy behavior, or accessibility of resources. It's all from trying to fight, build, and mine at 6 fps.

  • @admiralspandy
    @admiralspandy 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    The spawn rates needed to be adjusted. Making progress is frustrating when you have to keep clearing mobs just to get a few fiddle heads to make more food cause you wasted it all on corps runs because a fallen valkyrie, a morgen (or 2), 3 asksvins and 6 charred spawned on you out of nowhere. That is not an exaggeration. I like that Ashlands is a challenge, and I don't want the enemies themselves nerfed, but the spawns are excessive, even after all the patches that reduced them a bit. You want a hardcore experience, use the world modifiers. The baseline, especially for solo players, should be a bit more manageable. Valheim has always been a bit tough, but it was always fun. It hasn't been as fun recently.

  • @wingedviking2706
    @wingedviking2706 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Context: I started a new world and character for a solo playthrough of the Ashlands (seed: AshSeed).
    My thoughts on the Ashlands and also on the current updates to the PTB:
    - About spawn rates: The spawn rates were bad. I was able to manage but it was a lot of effort just to exist in the new biome and that started to detract from the fun for me. I like that they're addressing spawn rates but maybe they've taken it too far in the other direction (time will tell). People that are complaining about the spawn nerf need to remember that the DEFAULT difficulty settings should be for the AVERAGE player and that difficulty jump from Mistlands to Ashlands on these default settings was definitely too high for the average player (the difficulty curve on any setting should be as smooth and consistentas possible). On the flip side, the devs should definitely include some sort of difficulty settings that allow the more hardcore players to up the spawn rate to be more like OG Ashlands. Permanently taking that away from those that loved that gameplay is a bit sad.
    - About lava blobs: I like the lava blobs. At first you don’t know what they do and they can result in your death but then learning and dodging their attack pattern not only feels good but then learning to use them as a tool to get the upper hand in battle: great game design. Not sure how I feel about the spawn rate change. Part of me wants more. Maybe there should be less or it would help too much.
    - About Flametal: I'm pretty happy with it. Not sure if I've gotten lucky with my world but there is MORE than enough for me to make whatever I need (the forts on average have had quite a bit of it too). So no complaints about quantity. Also, I really liked the sinking feature. The sea leviathans teach us this mechanic so it's not a complete surprise (again, good game design). However they need to fix their map gen algorithm so that spires can't spawn inside rocks. One of the first F.spires I found was inside a rock and so I was mining both at the same time. When it sunk I got glitched into the rock and then died in the lava inside the rock (that was not a fun body to retrieve!). I like the idea of spires coming back up after a while so you can come back and continue mining them (despite there being plenty around, it's sort of like OCD/FOMO that makes me not like missing out on mining some of it). I actually thought they did return because I swear I've come back and found an empty spire that I had previously mined...
    - About lava: this needs work. First things first, they need to fix the thing where there are random little divots in the ground with almost no visual indication of lava but you just start burning there. They need to fix some of the things that make you fall into lava like the slippery bases of F.spires or the spikes on forts that pinball you all over the place (I was up on a wall once and accidentally walked too close to the wall spikes and then got bounced around a bunch before being launched into the lava). Also... the lava shouldn't kill you as quickly as it does. Rather than guaranteed death in under 2 seconds, how about in under 10 seconds? Also the temp platforms from the bombs should spawn a bit faster AND shouldn't cover your grave stone (you should be able to acces your grave even if you accidentally threw a bomb too close to it).
    - About the gems: there aren't enough of them. I've done 5 forts and only gotten 4 gems (and none of them have been Jade stone). I've looked at my world seed in a map gen and I think I only have approx. 15-20 forts in my entire world. At this rate I don’t know if I'll have enough gems in the ENTIRE world to try making everything I wanna make. This is painful and I'm playing solo. I dread to think how a server with multiple people would fare with so few gems.
    - About forts: I had a bad time with one of them and then a fine time with the rest. Maybe I got unlucky or maybe their spawn limits need a rethink because one of them actually had way too many dudes in it. I also think they need to make the forts come with some enemy version of the totem (like Dverger forts in Mistlands) so that you can't build or change terrain around the forts because that makes it too easy to cheese.
    - About enemy attack AI: I like it. Good job. The only thing I don’t like is when enemies just wander off mid combat and then come back way later.
    There's probably more but that's all I remember right now.

    I'm happy that I got to experience and enjoy both Mistlands and Ashlands pre major nerfs. The way I play I've basically broken the brutal survival aspect of the game and enjoy the challenge of working around the devs plans.
    I play completely vanilla and default but use whatever is available.
    My feeling is that a @tuning@ they could add would be having not harder hitting enemies but more aggressive enemies. A toggle to make everything a "wolf" .

    • @lamebubblesflysohigh
      @lamebubblesflysohigh 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I would give everything a toggle. Spawn rates, spawn cool-down, damage etc. 4 difficulties. Default would be curated by devs, Easy would be default with everything -20%, Hard would be Default +20% and Custom would be whatever the player (or server master) deems appropriate. Do you like the default game but you think monsters in Ashland spawn too often? Keep everything on default and just nerf spawn cooldown of Ashland mobs. Balancing problem solved.

    As much as I really do love the difficulty of the Ashlands, I do think that it needs to be tuned down a bit. I fought Fader recently and honestly, it was harder fighting the mobs to clear out the area before the boss fight than it was to actually fight the boss. Fortresses also need some BIG changes. Pathetically easy to siege with magic, no dungeon due to lack of time, and having metal in the forts makes the pillars completely pointless. I really do enjoy the Ashlands, but it definitely still needs some tweaking.

  • @JR9825
    @JR9825 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Yea, the spawn rates are what made me change playstyles as a solo player. Ashlands was real rough at first as a melee in Mistlands gear. I kept getting swarmed and stamina starved, and then a Morgan or Valkyrie would swing by and it'd be GG.
    After switching to bows, it became a lot more manageable. And then switching to Askvin gear was a game changer. No longer slowed by armor and the stamina buffs from the gear felt so good. I can run and kite forever it feels like. Hopefully these spawn rate changes help with the forts though. I've only taken on one but it was an hour-long siege. It was really fun though and I was rewarded with some gems.
    One of these gems was a lightning one, and it allowed me to upgrade my bow so that it shoots lightning arrows that chain! Now I'm just working on farming Flametal for the armor etc but it's gonna be hard going back to melee after this.

    < SPOILER ALERT>i kinda liked the mechanics of the Pillars aaand kinda not...to be fair, i mined only 1 pillar on my whole playtrough.(single player) After the first sucessfull raid on a fort, i had realised, that the forts give u more amount of Flammetal than the pillars.From the pillars i was able to mine 10-12 FM before it submerged, and the first fort gave me 30. So in the constant lavadanger sadly isnt worth the time and effort to mine the pillars (solo player). After my Bros joined to me was a bit easier, and we earned more FM, but the raids also was on Forts more easier with more player. I think the idea was great, just sadly wasnt.. wort it. :/

    So it’s going to be a ghost town now? It wasn’t really bad before. Mix in ranged attacks and reposition if needed, the enemies are slow so escaping isn’t difficult. It’s an advanced biome in a survival game. You take the time to make the best provisions and best gear and lay siege to the new biome. It’s not supposed to the Black Forest all over again where you just run in there grab everything right away and be done. It gets easier as you progress just like the biomes before, even still I find my mistlands weapons (Mistwalker and Spinesnap) to be dominant. Never personally used magic but I’ve seen what it can do. New staffs are ridiculously good especially for crowds. I’m happy people are getting changes they’re requesting to make the games more enjoyable. But I personally feel a lot of people just don’t want a challenge at all, personally I’d like to opt out of these changes

    At first, I was about to rage quit the Ashlands. But, once the player obtains the secret sword and the new awesome magic weapons, it's a really fun experience. The mistake some seasoned players are making is talking down to those who are having trouble. "Git Gud, bruh!" or "There's a difficulty slider, bruh!". Instead of being helpful and guiding less experienced players to understand (without spoilers) that it does get easier. The Ashlands is meant to be tough - a shock to the progression we normally have been used to. But, Iron Gate is listening to the majority and that's all good to me.

    My two good friends die all the time.
    One is extremely casual and the other is a crazy risk taker.
    They both have all their skills in the single digits.
    3 players means monster are much tougher and harder to kill.
    I find myself swarmed and look around, my casual friend is dead because she never dodges or rolls, and my daring friend was trying parkour over the lava and fell in, so I'm solo against the swarm that is much harder to kill than it would be if I were playing solo.

    I am very happy the pillars don't submerge anymore. Mainly due to the issue of retrieval when you die. Firstly the flammetal can break in unpredictable ways sending you to your death almost instantly. I know that I'm not the only player who has no idea the way a rock I hit might break, making it hard to guess if I might fall as the ground beneath me shatters. In 90% of Valheim, this is not a problem but in the ashlands it is near certain death. Second I find retrieving lost gear in lava to be uniquely challenging. Granted you could tame Ashvins or use Basalt bombs but combine the lava with large enemy spawns that do not get slowed or damaged by lava can lead to an awful lot of death runs with little hope of getting your equipment back.
    Granted I am not sure such a drastic nerf to enemy spawns was needed but I am sure more balance patches will come as the months go on.

    Personally I loved conquering the ashlands as a solo melee player. Going from difficult fights against waves of new enemies at the shore to picking apart groups and using enemy attacks against each other was very satisfying. The sinking flametal pillars was also a unique and rewarding challenge. I wish they would add a world modifier that gives players the original unnerfed experience of biomes for cases like this and the mistlands seeker ai nerf.

    I only died once because of hidden lava in the corner of a building. Since the spawns are crazy, blobs destroy terrain and asksvins are incredibly fast to breed (no pop/area destriction) I just flooded the Ashlands with 1stars. Just put a fire on a random little stone (not on ash) let 20 eggs get warm, portal away, come back 1day later, let em hatch, portal away and come back 2 days later. Fader looked like Eikthyr against 20 of these 😄

    I was definitely getting bored with exploring the biome just running into a seemingly endless hoard of enemies, feeling as though no matter how many you took down in a given area, the moment you started cutting down trees or building they were all back again within a minute. It made me feel like I spent every day fighting and getting nowhere. The enemies themselves are excellent, they're a fantastic challenge even after 50 days or more in the ashlands (as someone who only plays 2 or 3 games). I do agree though that the flametal towers should still sink, but ,as suggested by others, I would advocate that they should respawn randomly like the leviathan's so that you can always get enough metal if you put the time in hunting for them, especially if you're mining solo.

  • @theonus_4483
    @theonus_4483 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

    My theory on the lava laviathan's not sinking anymore is because they can't find / fix the bug where you slide all over / get stuck in falling mode. The developer said on a podcast that bug is so hard to find and has existed since vanilla while on a sinking leviathan. He said when he tests in unity it NEVER happens, but when they compile the game the bug happens. So they are at a loss. My guess is they just thought okay if we can't get it to be bug-free we have to pull the feature for something as important as flametal.

    I think the biggest problems people have with Ashlands is that it's all the way on one end of the map and a failed landing can result in gear being stranded or, best case scenario, a really long trip back to the Ashlands that can take around 30 minutes. A world size option for solo players and a less punishing death mechanic that still punishes death would change a lot of opinions. People don't mind losing so much as they mind being forced to waste time after losing, especially in a game that already is a bit grindy for solo players

    I loved the challenge of the Ashlands, at first. My main issue is the repetition of the combat. Instead of reducing the spawn rate, I would have preferred giving us a way to conquer/tame the Ashlands. Maybe by something like the shield generator which reduce the respawn in a sizable area, or a ritual you can perform for the same effect. Or maybe have the main respawns come from the destroyable spawners, kill those and the respawns in that area is reduced. A way to feel that you expand your influence in the area, even if only for a little while.

    Well that is going to suck. They are about to make the zone super easy.
    I found the zone stupid hard when I first got in it, I had no idea what anything was. But after realizing what the monuments were and that I needed to remove them, things became way easier.
    Built a wall around my zone away from my main structure while in the area of a single shield generator, kept enemies from attacking me and getting agro.
    I easily run thru the biome with no issue, occasionally when getting to a location of interest I'll stop and attack the enemies around me to make a clearing. I do tank build, so shield and Frostner with heavy armour, no issues. Most of my deaths have mainly been from getting knocked into lava or jumping/falling into lava.
    Hate they are removing the whole feature of Lavaeithans, that was an interesting thing, maybe make it where they submerge and re-merge after a period of time. Because it is annoying you can not mine it all, but it happens. The amount of metal per world is still crazy high so that doesn't even matter.

And I got all the gear I needed and I tore through Ashlands. These nerfs are only going to make the space boring. Ashlands doesn't have A LOT going for it outside of combat. Maybe that's a problem sure, but reducing the only thing its got going for it isn't the right call.

    Agree on the points about listening to community feedback. The question devs need to ask is "who is this community I am getting feedback from" because there are more parts to a community playing a game than are often giving the feedback. Loudest people can be the smallest groups sometimes like hardcore players. You need to carefully assess who is shouting at you to change something

    I've handled every biome on the default. When Ashlands asskicked me, I got so mad because I just couldn't progress once I got on shore... I didn't get any time to explore, find out enemy weaknesses, I didn't even get time to read the stupid Raven so if he gave me tips or just said "Welcome to Hell" I don't know.
    So I watched a guide on TH-cam and after that everything was easy. Sure, there are too many enemies sometimes but they're not difficult to beat if you're not overrun.
    Point is: I played every biome AND Mistlands without having to look up a guide. I rarely want to spoil my experience. But I had to do so to actually play Ashlands. That is not how it should be. Content should be approachable as long as you're geared up properly.
    And the fact that Ashlands was easy after figuring everything out just shows that I am right. As long as you get time to explore and experiment, the game is approachable. You don't tell a student driver to ride the highway before you teach him to change gears and how to use the breaks.

    I myself won't be playing until the public test patch makes Ashland's a bit easier. Those who love the difficulty should use the commands to increase the player count and stop trying to ruin other people's fun. I had to cheat fully upgraded flametal and all the weapons, the best food and *still got wiped out!* Mind you, flametal armor can't even be upgraded to level 4 yet, but the nocost dev command allows you to fully upgrade anything to it's maximum, without materials, without the correct level crafting table/forge and even at any of the crafting objects! Yes, no cost let's you make flametal armor at a cauldron. I thought that was super funny.
    The sheer number of mobs and these lightning fast respawns were what kept killing me, even with better gear than is even normally possible! These nerfs needed to happen. In my level 3 mistlands gear, using bonemass power and potions, I was able to survive and kill a single spawn event, albeit with difficulty, but when another 12 charred skeletons spawned nearby (yes, *TWELVE* charred skeltons, some of them 1 star!), that was the end for me. Even after decking myself out, the respawning still killed me eventually. It was outrageous.

  • @PhilippMehr
    @PhilippMehr 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hmm... I think, the problems with the Balance of the game isnt the amount of enemies per se. Its more playstyle dependent. In my experience in the solo game, a magic type build is way more effective than heavy armor. Just cast three to four roots with staff of the wild, maybe have some skeleton decoys and jump around while they do the rest. Even one star morgans together with 2 star skeletons and archers and askvins... if a valkyrie joins the dance, shoot it with your bow while your roots deal with the other mobs. Ive beat fader that way without even looking at him. Kite him and let the roots do the rest. A summoned troll into a group of loxes can one shot all 3 loxes just by impact. So from my point of view, ashlands dont need to be made more easy, but the heavy armour with shild builds need a serious buff.
    Also I think its unfortunate that the fortresses dont need to be sieged at all when useing a magic/archer build. Just build some stairs and kill everything from far away.
    No need for the flame metal pillors either - got two whole blackmetal chests full of flame metal just from fortresses.
    And I think, thats where some tweeking should be done

    No, the flametal ore towers should not submerge. There's a limited amount of this resource in the world itself and for solo players, getting into a fort can be extremely difficult. This leaves no real other method to get the ore unless it's via a tower.
    How do you fix the conundrum....if you want the spires to sink. Make them respawn as well. Then solo players can get some ore since it's incredible for building and then you can have your sinking spires and everyone is happy.

    Flametal submerging has been mistake imho from the start. Or at least how soon they start going down. Good riddance i say. The infinite spawn has been brutal til i got the root staff so i cant imagine doing melee only solo initially. The difficulty spike has been a bit too brutal.

    I take Valheim as SoulsLike game, so for me it should stay hard, or be even harder... Im not a pro, I died like 1k times in my save before I have even seen ash biom, still, You can roll, then its souls like xD

    The small percentage that complain, provably do not understand the actual progression of the game and race to the ashlands or mountains etc. without properly gearing themselves or understanding the mechanics.
    I for one think it is a huge error on the developers part to change it so drastically, and instead should have added more modifications to the game in the menu.
    Variety is the key and limiting it for a few will always alienate the majority.

    I feel the nerfs are for people that rush into the game unprepared. I haven't died once and have played since its release. I have soloed forts, fought there at night, but me and friends actually spent time slowly making our way inland. Deeply saddened by these choices.

      Simply not true. I have 400 hours on valheim and that shit was way too hard and overwhelming. Not trying to play a souls game

      You can always increase the difficulty if its to easy for you. I feel like its better when the base game is more accessible for players

    • @ImaRamblingman
      @ImaRamblingman 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JLVprod The difficulty level was fine where it was at. Increasing the difficulty increases damage and health of mobs which I don't want to do. Most of the streams I watch where people are fighting in the Ashland's have them playing very aggressively, without much in the way of concern for what the enemies are doing i.e. being impatient. I noticed the OP plays like this too. Meanwhile I've levelled my sneak to 50 fighting in the Ashland's. I move around slowly and deliberately, picking off targets with my crossbow and then using my lightening polearm to knock enemies back, using my rolls, actually making use of my kit. It's not Dark souls, it's just actually using the tools we are given, which is really fun. My group literally spent a couple of evenings just preparing our entry and made a really good foothold to retreat to. Once that was set up we used the taller building to make further footholds, then eventually got close enough to a fort to deal with it and make it a safer place to retreat to. Rinse repeat. It wasn't hard, it just took time and the best foods.

      @@ImaRamblingmanpeople dont want to play stealth archer. Its been known since the days of Skyrim that stealth archer makes the game trivial regardless of difficulty, so better to let other play styles dictate the pace. Additionally, this isnt a souls-like. People want the opportunity to build their ashland fortress too

    • @ImaRamblingman
      @ImaRamblingman 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@trolololoolable I play that way. My friend plays tank, so can take hits with his shield up. My other friend plays mage and uses bubble and skeles. All were fine. All were viable. I just use that play style as I chose RP the ranger rogue, but less so now as I have the axes and mace and better armour. However, I still play with care, as do my friends and we don't rush in. It makes for a far more engaging game in my opinion.
      Also I think it's worth adding that using weapons and armour properly does not make the game a soul's like. Having every weapon be equally useful in all situations makes for bland, uninteresting, neutered gameplay. Is that the game we want?

    Unpopular opinion here: I find present-day ashlands far easier than the mistlands because of the topography. This game is supposed to get harder for each biome... Substantially so.
    A survival game is meant to instill fear in the player. Present-day ashlands does exactly that.
    Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!

    I lost a ton of enthusiasm for the game with Mistlands ngl. Before that Valheim was in my top 5 favorite games of all time. I just got to Ashlands recently and I think I’m just going to take a break until this update comes out. Idk but going from “I can’t see a fncking thing” to “I can’t see OR build a fncking thing” really irritated me. If the next expansion has the same kinds of bs we’ve seen with ML and AL then I’m probably just going to quit the game entirely. Such a shame.

    I really hope they do this to test the "other" extreme. The flametal ores sinking are such an amazing wtf-mechanic, i actually liked it. And, hey, there is flametal in other places too.
    Getting more "breathing time" is a good thing, but these changes seem a bit too much for me. And i am definitely not a competent gamer.
