I think I prefer the himminafl for mistlands for the crazy cc. You can spin and stun regular seekers. And for soldiers they're easy to parry with it. Other than that spot on!
Glad the Atgeir got some love in this video. Too many people stick their nose up at it. The Atgeir is definitely the best all around melee weapon in the entire game (not Frostner IMHO), excluding boss fights of course. It has awesome value from the moment you can make a bronze one and all the way to the end-game. It finally depreciates a little in the Ashlands, but is a lifesaver up to that point.
Bro, I grafted atgeir thinking it was just another spear but boy oh boy, from black forest to plains it literally carried with me it's insane range and stagger, literally nothing can get close cuz they either get staggered the first hit or staggered with the secondary attack
@@AcediaIX 100% It is the best weapon class in the game. I watch people run around shooting 50 arrows to kill a Lox. It's like, you know you can just stun lock that guy with one secondary hit and finish him with a few jabs right? Atgeir is easy mode for 80% of the game.
The only reason I prefer Frostner to an Atgeir is control. I don't need to run when fighting with Frostner as everything gets slowed. But yeah the atgeir and its AOE damage is insane. I can't blame people for liking it more. It's all about play style.
i love daggers in early game, but in plains and up they suck, their range fails at hitting the hitbox of the larger mobs like lox and soldier seeker, making it verry unreliable. i tried manny times to sneek up on lox and alt-attack them only to miss even as my face is burried in their bums. also dual vield is a bad call, dagger/buckler ftw.
Misc question , when you roll with the spacebar , do you literally become unhittable by the enemy attack (i saw it with the spear vs the troll and with the abomination in the video)? I thought it just makes you move quicker to build up seperation...
You're invincible for the roll animation so even if it appears you are hit your physically won't take any damage. Just like dark souls if you're familiar with that series
@@SpazzyjonesGaming I unfortunately havent played any dark souls kindnof game so i didnt really know that. Thanks for the heads up , ill check it out asap
@@SpazzyjonesGaminga log troll downward smash will damage you in a roll, theres a few others as well from memory all ground smash and in a very small area
I barely used atgeir, back when I played more regularly. I was disappointed that the range wasn't that much better than the spear, and the alt attack consumes so much stamina. For Black Forest, I chose the sword, because nothing resists slashing damage there, and you can still pierce with the alt attack. Getting the abyssal razor early is definitely a good idea, though. I remember having fun with the stagbreaker too, though the damage ends up being low. Still it has utility, and is funny sending Greydwarves flying around with it. Aside from that I tended to stick with clubs through the next three biomes, culminating with the porcupine. I stopped playing before Mistlands came out, and haven't gotten past the Plains, but I restarted recently and am gonna see if I can make it through again. Maybe I'll try the atgeir out again, and eat stamina foods for more alt attack action.
here are a few method I use to get weapons earlier than intended 1. destroy ship wrecked boats for early finewood bow in the meadows 2. use the chair glitch to enter sunken crypts to get early iron weapons 3. use great hammer to find silver in the mountains before killing bonemass that last one is especially useful since it unlocks access to frostner before killing bonemass, before the mistlands was released bonemass was considered the hardest fight in the game, he's weak to frost and blunt damage, both of which are dealt by frostner
@@SpazzyjonesGaming clubs work pretty much in every biome if you think about it. im also more of a tank guy than magic atm running with flametal armor on max with thundering berserkir axes. also dont forget,. porcupine has pierce and blunt damage so when doin the 2nd attack knocking back an enemy, it creates distance and if theres a resistance to either blunt or pierce one of the 2 is still gonna do damage
100% spot on with all of them. Though in the meadows I stick with a flint axe as a tool and weapon in one is a solid choice until I can branch out to bronze afterwards. I have made use of the spear, favouring even the knife over the spear when running a speedy build.
The best weapon in meadows by far is simple torch, after plains only magic, magic and magic. The most powerful weapon and better then axes is storm fang, so if you don't like magic, with storm fang you will annihilate pack of enemies (flying creatures also) in matter of seconds
Helpfull video as allway what can I say 😅 agree frostner is realy good but I like slash damage type more. But I see most of the mobs are not weak to slash so I gues I will have to play with blunt more
I like spears, the main issue i have and why i dont use it is because so many things seem to be resistent to pierce damage, where slash seems to be good against almost everything with a decent attack speed.
My issue with the spear is that it can only be used one handed and the hit box is so small. If they enabled it to be used two handed, like an atgeir attack or one handed with shield, it would be better
@@markcole5108 you can use it one handed with a shield. I think using it like a 2 handed weapon then defeats the purposes of the atgeir. Needs more vaerity. Having it one handed with a shield is pretty good i think, but yeah the hitbox is really small with it, gotto be rnose to nose to hit them
I dont know if you are into modding the game but would love to see you or maybe give someone you know that makes videos and mods the game some new videos for modding as there seems to be a lot of the same mods and a lot of tweaking and something not working atm as i guess the Valheim modding community hasnt been fully up to date sins Ashlands released. I'm struggling to even get easy non intrusive mods to work properly
no actually. with recent footage I am capturing I have been capturing the game footage rather than the footage of my monitor so it doesn't capture the water mark :)
i think I have to disagree with the plains and mountains, because i think running the silver sword is the best choice espacially for the plains bc of the boss
Unpopular opinion: I wish the crossbow was introduced earlier and at lower strengths, gaining crossword levels from mist tier to ash-lands feels very late to the game compared to the bow
I think an honorable mention for the plains could be the ooze bomb. There are so many mobs in the villages you can easily get 400 to 500 damage on 1 bomb.
The wraith is yeah, that's why I showed an image of the wraith when I said it. I made a mistake when recording my voiceover and tried to make a joke of it 🤣
I would say staff of frost is objectively wrose than staff of ember in mistland unless you are dueling with wetted enemy. The lack of accuracy, long casting animation (which stop etir regeneration), lack of aoe potential and short range really hold it back aginst the staff of ember. The advantage of slow effect is easily offset by the knock back from staff of ember(SoE). Now that fire dmg can be stack, also make SoE much more efficient as well. More importantly, the SoM is the best weapon to kite enemy. When you are facing small skirmish, i think both staff can do well. But, when you are swamped by enemies, there is a clear winner.
@@oskarberg3209 exactly. Also, while you do feel good in the initial burst using SoF or slowing enemy in one on one situation. But when you etir pool run out and you are still chasing by a group of enemies. You will miss the SoE.
I was gonna say, why not just use your axe for the meadows. But using the spear for its ranged capabilities didn't even occur to me. Smart. I tend to cheese bonemass by standing on top of the skull with an iron sledge. Huh. I had no idea the huntsman bow had less noise. Man, I can't wait to get into the mistlands. The magic looks so much fun.
Nice its a nice cheese strategy for sure. yeah the hunstman is a hidden stat. Magic is a blast! Im jealous you have still to experience it for the first time!
disagree with swamp BiS weapon...Iron Sledge IMO BiS for swamp...its AoE slam is massive for crypts and the knockback / stagger makes it a force to be reckoned with,
I have to disagree with Ashlands choices. Magic is not king of Ashlands. It is the weakest. Magic is king in Mistlands, but you really want to have mistwalker plus fire staff. That way you have AOE for ticks, and a good melee for seekers. Going into Ashlands, Mistwalker is the best choice. Once I switched out of pure magic, I was able to dominate every creature in Ashlands. The Valkyrie is the only one that floats so it's really hard to fight melee and the frost staff works really well on them. Or the bow. I hated the vine staff because the vines have a delay on attack, they have short range, and they knock back, which pushes the mobs out of range and making follow up attacks impossible. Plus they are weak and die fast. Medows - Flint spear / flint knife (Elk - fire arrows) Black Forest - Spear/knife for trolls, stagbreaker for dungeons (usually go knife because it can hit multiple greydwarves) (Elder - fire arrows / axe shield) Swamp - Bronze Mace/Axe - into Iron Mace with Iron round shield (bonemass - iron mace) MT - Iron Mace until Frostnier with Silver round shield (modder - Fire arrows) Plains - Frostnier / Bow (Yag - Frostnier) Mistlands - Frostnier early game then - Bow for Gjall, Firestaff for ticks, Mistwalker for everything else. (queen 100% fire staff full magic) Ashlands - Mistwalker no magic, get the best shield and upgrade to max. Bow for Valk.
Watching someone eat hits from charred warriors and morgen is wild. I'm playing on Very Hard and Ashlands is 'dodge or die' with every attack. Try it out sometime, it is wild. (The increased speed means you cannot run either. Good times.)
the absolute best weapon in the entire game is the lightning bow using frost arrows. You just melt everything. Even in the ashlands. himinafl or whatever its called is also gigabusted.
People who say "hurr durr, Frostner is best weapon in game, hurr durr" must've failed 1st grade math. Look at damage numbers. Frostner deals 35 blunt/58 frost/20 spirit at max level. That's a total of 113 damage. Storm Star (flametal mace with lightning upgrade) deals 141 blunt/10 lightning, and has the added bonus of a 25% chance to deal 75 addition lightning to the target with an 80% chance to jump to nearby enemies. Even ignoring that lightning effect, Storm Star deals 151 damage to Frostner's 113. Even taking into account the 50% bonus to spirit damage taken by Charred enemies in the Ashlands, the Frostner isn't even comparable. And the slow effect from the frost damage, while nice, is also quite negligible, as the chain lightning effect counts as a separate damage instance for purposes of stagger, and/or just has a much higher stagger modifier than normal attacks, resulting in ABSURD chance to stagger enemies, to the point where you shouldn't even be able to appreciate the loss of the slow effect in the face of the absolutely crushing increase in damage that you get from a far superior weapon plus the bonus damage taken by staggered enemies. In short: don't use Frostner in Ashlands. It's a trap. If you like maces, get the Storm Star.
I mean you're just stating the obvious. I'm approaching it from the angle of how impressive it is that a weapon from the Mountains is still viable 3 biomes later. Naturally you get better weapons as you progress with the latest biome giving the best weapons. But, the pure fact that you can enter the ashlands and hold your own with a weapon from a 3 biome prior weapon speaks to how good of a weapon it is
@@SpazzyjonesGaming the problem is that you're not the only one making these claims, amd it got to a point where I figured I must be missing something and tried it out for myself only to find that it wildly underperformed compared to even the Mistwalker (granted, that may have simply been because my sword skill is higher than my club at this point).
Really....you picked the frostner as your favorite overall weapon after i just barely lost mine into the abyss of deleted digital pixels?? 😭😭 I accidently hit load world instead of load character after an askvin yeeted me into a lava field that i absolutely could not get my stuff out of. Heartbreaking to know I cant put it on my wall of favorite weapons, yeah I can make another, but its not the same one you know
Wolves are immune to spirit damage, Drakes are immune to frost AND spirit damage, Stone Golems are immune to all elemental damage,..... How on earth are you saying that Frostner is good in the mountains?! Frostner is one of the most overpowered, easymode weapons in the game,.. but that's AFTER the mountains,. not while you're in them! Legit equip an iron mace instead and watch how much quicker you kill stuff in the mountains. Baffling.
tell me what is better in the mountains? The spirit damage it does is only a portion of the damage it does in addition to blunt and frost. Plus, the slowing effect of the frost is fantastic
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Already stated in my comment,.. the iron mace. Max upgraded iron mace has a base blunt damage of 73, max upgraded frostner has a base blunt damage of 35. Half the stuff in the mountains is immune to frost damage, negating the largest part of frostners damage, and completely bypassing the slow debuff In your clip at 4:57 you're attacking a stone golem for 17 damage, because none of the frost or spirit damage is going through, and you're not applying the slow debuff. If you just use iron mace and a bow, you're solid in the mountain biome. The only creature in the entire biome that I can think of where Frostner is measurably better is the Fenring, every other creature can be killed in the same amount of time, or faster, with the iron mace.

Great video bro. Youre a content making beast! Hahahaha
Thanks Blast! that means a lot!
skoll and hati is so goated
daggers are a blast
i love daggers in early game, but in plains and up they suck, their range fails at hitting the hitbox of the larger mobs like lox and soldier seeker, making it verry unreliable. i tried manny times to sneek up on lox and alt-attack them only to miss even as my face is burried in their bums. also dual vield is a bad call, dagger/buckler ftw.
Just got to the mountains, been reeeaaaally liking the crystal battleaxe

@@SpazzyjonesGaming yeah it’s honestly not such a great weapon but i like the look and swinging it at greydwarfs

Thanks for the heads up , ill check it out asap

what if I leveled maces and have no sword skill i is mistwalker better than porcupine?
id probably lean into the skill you've been leveling. A much higher skill can make quite a big difference
real best weapons meadows flint axe. black forest bronze sword / abyssal razor. swamp iron sledge / iron mace. mountains frostner / silver sword. plains porcupine. mistlands mistwalker / skoll and hati / himminafl. ashlands thundering berserkir axes
All your choices are great, I can't complain about any of them
I barely used atgeir, back when I played more regularly.
Give it another go! I love atgeirs. Fortunately, almost all weapon types are viable so you can choose your fav
here are a few method I use to get weapons earlier than intended
1. destroy ship wrecked boats for early finewood bow in the meadows
2. use the chair glitch to enter sunken crypts to get early iron weapons
3. use great hammer to find silver in the mountains before killing bonemass
that last one is especially useful since it unlocks access to frostner before killing bonemass, before the mistlands was released bonemass was considered the hardest fight in the game, he's weak to frost and blunt damage, both of which are dealt by frostner
good tips
Meadows: club
Black Forest: Club
Swamp: Bronze Club
Mountain: Frostner
Plains: Porcupine
Mistlands: Mistwalker
Ashlands: Thundering Berserkir Axes
Eikthyr: Crude bow [fire-arrow]
Elder: Finewood bow [fire-arrow]
Bonemass: Frostner
Moder: Draugr Fang + Iron Mace [poison-arrow]
Yagluth: Frostner
Queen: Mistwalker
Fader: Thundering Berserkir Axes
nice picks. Definitely a big club guy. makes sense, clubs are excellent
Thx for your video ;)
No problem! 😃
Love the Valheim content!
Thank you so much!
100% spot on with all of them. Though in the meadows I stick with a flint axe as a tool and weapon in one is a solid choice until I can branch out to bronze afterwards. I have made use of the spear, favouring even the knife over the spear when running a speedy build.
glad to hear a veteran player like you and I are aligned!
The best weapon in meadows by far is simple torch, after plains only magic, magic and magic. The most powerful weapon and better then axes is storm fang, so if you don't like magic, with storm fang you will annihilate pack of enemies (flying creatures also) in matter of seconds
yeah the bows are crazy good with the infused gems
am i the only one that went from swamp to plains? (i only went to the plains for cloudberries and getting some barley by "raiding" fuling camps)
oh wow!
From my experience, the spear would've been a perfect weapon were it not for it's wonky attack animation.

Just got back into Valheim after the macOS release and have been binging your content (up to a certain point to avoid getting spoiled) - good stuff m8
Thanks so much! I'm glad the mac update brought in some new players
I just posted my first Valheim video ever, if you could let me know what you think about it I would highly appreciate it, any feedback is welcome!!
Frostner is ol' reliable. You CAN use other weapons and diversify your playstyle, or you can smash with hammer.
agreed
Helpfull video as allway what can I say 😅 agree frostner is realy good but I like slash damage type more. But I see most of the mobs are not weak to slash so I gues I will have to play with blunt more
thanks santa! glad you found it helpful. Slash is a great source of damage because you're right, very few creatures are resistance to slash
Frostner still works in Ashlands. Good Ol Reliable.
goated
do you not use a shield at all?
not very often honestly
@@SpazzyjonesGaming man i love shields, especially bucklers. maybe its due to me having like 3 different weapons and they're all one handed though
@@MonkeyDMan-mv9ep bucklers are m fa shield also
I like spears, the main issue i have and why i dont use it is because so many things seem to be resistent to pierce damage, where slash seems to be good against almost everything with a decent attack speed.
yeah pierce is the weakest physical damage. so many skeletal enemies in the game
My issue with the spear is that it can only be used one handed and the hit box is so small. If they enabled it to be used two handed, like an atgeir attack or one handed with shield, it would be better
@@markcole5108 the hit box is brutal! i agree, two handed would be a real nice touch
@@markcole5108 you can use it one handed with a shield. I think using it like a 2 handed weapon then defeats the purposes of the atgeir. Needs more vaerity. Having it one handed with a shield is pretty good i think, but yeah the hitbox is really small with it, gotto be rnose to nose to hit them
I just posted my first Valheim video ever, if you could let me know what you think about it I would highly appreciate it, any feedback is welcome!
I haven't messed around with mods much myself but that doesn't mean I'm not interested in doing mod related videos in the future
the easiest way to kill a lox is with a weapon that swings downward you can just jump on its back and wail on it until it dies
i dont know if Ive ever jumped on their backs
@@SpazzyjonesGaming you just have to jump to avoid its stomp attack but its otherwise pretty easy
I didn't see the "Activate Windows" watermark this time. You finally buy it?
no actually. with recent footage I am capturing I have been capturing the game footage rather than the footage of my monitor so it doesn't capture the water mark :)
ha thats the way. 😅
i think I have to disagree with the plains and mountains, because i think running the silver sword is the best
choice espacially for the plains bc of the boss
No worries. I respect your choice!
First true threat then forgets that idea to sell mace boss fights are not really dangerous since you fight them prepared.
always easier when you're prepared
Love you spazzy but I must respectfully disagree with the flint spear, fuck that thing! Team knife rise up!!!
I can't argue with that!
Unpopular opinion: I wish the crossbow was introduced earlier and at lower strengths, gaining crossword levels from mist tier to ash-lands feels very late to the game compared to the bow
ya thats fair. maybe one day they will add on retroactively
I think an honorable mention for the plains could be the ooze bomb. There are so many mobs in the villages you can easily get 400 to 500 damage on 1 bomb.
i don't disagree. bombs are excellent!
ooze bomb is good for wolf packs to
sometimes you aggro a bunch of them and you can only run around while your dot ticks them down

100% agree, staff of frost is really overhyped imo UNLESS you can kite to water.
@@oskarberg3209 exactly.
Also, while you do feel good in the initial burst using SoF or slowing enemy in one on one situation. But when you etir pool run out and you are still chasing by a group of enemies. You will miss the SoE.
yeah thats fair. Both are good IMO and in a lot of ways Embers is more fun. hard to argue with your logic
funny choice in every biome ;-)
what are your picks?
I was gonna say, why not just use your axe for the meadows. But using the spear for its ranged capabilities didn't even occur to me. Smart.
I tend to cheese bonemass by standing on top of the skull with an iron sledge.
Huh. I had no idea the huntsman bow had less noise.
Man, I can't wait to get into the mistlands. The magic looks so much fun.
Nice its a nice cheese strategy for sure.
yeah the hunstman is a hidden stat.
Magic is a blast! Im jealous you have still to experience it for the first time!
Hell yeah!
disagree with swamp BiS weapon...Iron Sledge IMO BiS for swamp...its AoE slam is massive for crypts and the knockback / stagger makes it a force to be reckoned with,
thats fair. As long as you're doing blunt you'll be just fine
Sword is the best weapon for every biome, Mistwalker is more powerful than nidhogg in asslands as well.
swords can be great, especially the mistwalker. But, i disagree that they're ALWAYS the best
There is so much in this game and here am i stuck in bronze age
hahah enjoy the ride friend!
Wouldn't a silver atgeir with frost damage be the bomb.... ah, well...
a tragic miss!
Medows - Flint spear / flint knife (Elk - fire arrows)
Black Forest - Spear/knife for trolls, stagbreaker for dungeons (usually go knife because it can hit multiple greydwarves) (Elder - fire arrows / axe shield)
Swamp - Bronze Mace/Axe - into Iron Mace with Iron round shield (bonemass - iron mace)
MT - Iron Mace until Frostnier with Silver round shield (modder - Fire arrows)
Plains - Frostnier / Bow (Yag - Frostnier)
Mistlands - Frostnier early game then - Bow for Gjall, Firestaff for ticks, Mistwalker for everything else. (queen 100% fire staff full magic)
Ashlands - Mistwalker no magic, get the best shield and upgrade to max. Bow for Valk.
I just about agree with you across the board but I gotta stand with my magic in the Ashlands! 👊
@@SpazzyjonesGaming having your magic leveled is key. Same with bow. If the magic is low level, then it cant reach it's full potential.
@@InfestedChris agreed
mistwalker is worse than maxed out silver sword in the ashlands because of stamina usage
you might have a point. 4 stamina per swing is a big difference. no freezing effect from the silver sword though
Watching someone eat hits from charred warriors and morgen is wild. I'm playing on Very Hard and Ashlands is 'dodge or die' with every attack. Try it out sometime, it is wild. (The increased speed means you cannot run either. Good times.)
Oh man! I am doing a very hard run now but I'm still far from the Ashlands. Good luck my friend

the absolute best weapon in the entire game is the lightning bow using frost arrows. You just melt everything. Even in the ashlands.
himinafl or whatever its called is also gigabusted.
i can't argue with that
No wood club?
grug no happy
wood club is great. Its usually the first weapon i craft and then the flint spear after getting flint. Its a close second for me
we need more fist weapons.
I agree. I have heard one will be added in the Deep North
Bro forgot about parrying
parrying is OP
If your talking about the stone golem he probably didn't have a high enough level to parry it
People who say "hurr durr, Frostner is best weapon in game, hurr durr" must've failed 1st grade math.
Great job, man, I like how you choose from all languages in the world, language of facts
Lol the frostner yet deall too less damage in the higher biomes. That's how the game works.
yeah the damage does drop off. I was STILL using in the ashlands though a bit, believe it or not. the knockback and freezing effect are great

Heartbreaking to know I cant put it on my wall of favorite weapons, yeah I can make another, but its not the same one you know
tragic!
Half the stuff in the mountains is immune to frost damage, negating the largest part of frostners damage, and completely bypassing the slow debuff
In your clip at 4:57 you're attacking a stone golem for 17 damage, because none of the frost or spirit damage is going through, and you're not applying the slow debuff.
If you just use iron mace and a bow, you're solid in the mountain biome.
The only creature in the entire biome that I can think of where Frostner is measurably better is the Fenring, every other creature can be killed in the same amount of time, or faster, with the iron mace.
