    Just got my Pond Prowler 10 five hours ago. Got the trolling motor, battery, charger, vests, emergency oar....time to put some bucket mouth lunkers in it now. Her maiden voyage will be in 2 days.

    Looks like we're neighbors. I just picked up a Prowler 10' and am taking it on its maiden fishing voyage today. Took the wife out last weekend to Cassidy just to try it out and it performed well. Can't wait to start the modifications. Thanks for the video and the ideas. Might seeya out there. :)

    Thank you Allan for this presentation. I've been looking for something small. I've looked at the kayaks and similar and just wasn't interested in spending the kind of money they want for the nice ones, and the same for the paddle boats. Considering I'm probably less than 5 miles from you (north of 84), your recommendation about being "just the right size" has a lot of meaning for me. Hopefully I will get something to use soon and maybe cross wakes on the lakes.

      Thanks for the kind words. I really can't recommend this boat enough. It meets all my needs for the local lakes. And as I'm sure you're aware, there are a ton of them to explore. I don't know what your needs are, and the 10 ft. model is perfect for me, but remember that there is also an 8 footer that could be even easier to get around. No matter what you choose, it's about getting out there and having fun. And these little boats are a great way to do that.

      i would just get a jon boat, lighter to get in/out of the water.. also low maintenance. Def get a lithium battery or make one urself (they are like 400 bucks on ali now). I own a 1236 jon myself use it every week.. my fishing buddy has a small consone boat, with 20hp on there so we can go out on bigger water aswell.. the jon is very handy to get into smalle bodies of water.. where a lot less people go and fish. I do some trolling, or put out a driftbag and cast/fireball..

      If you're undecided, I'd definitely recommend the pond prowler. It's a much smaller investment to start out with. And almost everything you add to it could be swapped to another boat later if that's what you choose to do. I didn't want to have to worry about the extra expense and maintenance of a trailer. Even registration for this boat is optional where I live. In my mind, anything that gets you out on the water is worth it. Have fun!!

    Nice setup! How did you secure the kayak handle in the front? Did you use rivets, rivnuts, or wellnuts? I put the rope style kayak handles thru the front cleats on my Prowler and one of the cleats popped out when lifting my Prowler with the rope kayak handle thru the cleat. The cleats on the front were mounted from the factory with rivets. I am going to remount the cleats with wellnuts. IMHO, wellnuts are stronger than rivets.

    Great video, great add ons! I’m adding the same downrigger to my pond prowler 10 this evening to go out tomorrow. What did you use to secure it to the boat? I’m sure screws, but what type? I’m paranoid about it ripping loose with that much weight and losing my downrigger. I’m thinking screws and some 3m double sided tape should be secure enough. But there’s no wood under that portion so I’m paranoid. Thanks!

    Wonderful video. I wanted to ask an important question. I now a Sea Eagle SE9 raft with trolling motor. The problem is I can not go up river with my set up. I understand from management at Sea Eagle that my problem is my HULL SPEED. I am a photographer and videographer and not being able to go up river has been a bummer for 2 years now. Do you know if this boat can go upstream with it's hull speed. I love this boat and it's perfect but I need to be able to get back to my car upstream. I have several batteries and would not rule out a gas engine just to get back to my car. Even if I put a powerful gas engine on my raft I understand because of the Hull Speed I still can't go upstream.

    • @prowlerfishing1745
      @prowlerfishing1745  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the river has a strong current, you would definitely need a gas motor. With the electric motor my maximum speed is about 3 mph, 5kph, if the river is faster than that, you would just stand still. My understanding is that a 4hp gas motor can double this speed. Meaning you may be okay in the river. It all depends on the river speed. Hope this helps.
