I got that same boat about 4 months ago. Your advice to add things and make mods after using the boat for a while is top advice.
I learned it from another fellow TH-camr and thought it was good advice to pass down! Glad u enjoyed
WOW, great explanation of everything you have. I can't believe you talk that fast and explain everything so clearly. Good job and thanks.
You have inspired me to get my own. Just got delivered today. I'm in the upper peninsula and I think this will do the job. Great videos!
Wooo! That's awesome, go get em!
What a great video! Getting ready to purchase one of these boats and this was so helpful...thank you!
Pick mine up tomorrow. Thank you for this video. Very helpful
Really enjoy your videos. And all the information you give us. Please keep them coming.
Thank you! Appreciate it
Thanks for the video, thinking of getting this for me and my 4 year old son, needed something for our local pond and something I could get on the water easily without much help. Appreciate it!
You got the best videos on this pond prowler
Nice review! I'll be getting one in the spring. These are awesome. I do a lot of pond fishing.
I will now purchase this boat due to this video
An excellent presentation. Thank you.
Great video!!
I have had the SD prowler for about 10 years and love it.
Just couldn’t figure out a good anchor/mount till now, ty
Also a hard floor makes a huge difference, I used plywood and boat carpet. Just cut to length, install a handle to take it in and out and it’s great.
Awesome video very helpful!!
Excellent information.
Thank you so much for all your videos on the pond prowler 8 bro I bought one and I love it 🤜🤛🎣
Awesome! Glad you enjoy it
Thanks for the video. Subscribed 👍🏻
You need to start a pond Prowler Nation channel. Another Great show
Great info and advice! Thx!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video sir!!!!
That's a cool idea about the mount and extender for the transducer. I have a Garmin and it came with the zip tie to attach it to the propeller but the mount on the side is a good idea. I have the 10ft boat. Good advice on getting a feel of how you want things on it.
I like it so much better on the side, still to this day one of the best mods I’ve done with it. Glad u enjoyed the video!
Hey Casey! Been missing you at Bass Pro Shop in Rocklin. Hearing you talk about your mini bass boat reminds me of my 11.5 inflatable pontoon. I am looking to get a Harbor Freight trailer to haul it on so I am not having to set it up and tear it down each time. I just used it to fish on Bullards Bar and caught 18 spots. Hope your doing great my friend.
Heck yah, I miss all my friends at the shop! Glad to hear your doing well, next trip catch a couple spots for me, as we don’t have em here in Idaho 😀
Can't beat using a trailer. Instead of putting on bunk boards, like on bass boat trailers, I stacked a couple of 2x8s in the trailer center on top of a sheet of 3/4" pressure treated plywood. Works perfect.
Great video brotha 👌 👍
Excited to see how you put it on the car 😂
It’s not as bad as you’d think!🤣
great setup bro... i have the pond prawler 10 ... how did you install the Scotty Anchor bracket on the outside of your boat?
They come with screws to mount it, I also add some marine sealant along with it too
You can get the seats for these at Cabela's/BassPro for $120 but the width is 26.44 inches. Bass Hunter has the base on their website that are 25 5/8's or 25 3/4ths inch and they fit older model Pond Prowlers for $39.00 but you have to buy the swivels and the seats. Just got some from Bass Hunter and the fit like a charm!
Do you feel you would be comfortable and have enough room if you added that second seat and another person? Or do you think it's would basically be mandatory to go ahead and get the 10 foot for 2 people. Thanks for the great videos and information!
Here's a video with 2 people in the boat! Tight but it works, even for bass fishing th-cam.com/video/u8XeKSqsrr4/w-d-xo.html
A casting deck on the front and that boat is done 😎
I’d love to, but it would probably add some weight and I have to lift that thing onto my car!
I have lots of questions and this video helped me so much. How long is your anchor line? Im completely new to this, always been a bank fisher. Does the transducer come with the fish finder or is that something you need to purchase separately? Also, can you explain more about the down rigger? What's the purpose and how do they work? Thank you so much
1- anchor line is around 25 feet long, but other products are available for longer distances if needed
2- sometimes the transducers will come with the fish finder but in my case it didn’t so I had to go buy it off Garmin’s website. Luckily it was pretty cheap and just plugs into the striker 5 fish finder
3-the downrigger is for trolling in deep water and is an effective way to keep your baits submerged. I’d check out other tutorials on TH-cam and they’ll explain it better’
Just subed. Loving your videos, cause I'm about to pick me up one soon
Have you ever tried a rudder on a trolling motor mounted in the front? Would a rear mounted rudder better? Thank you Casey!
I made a rudder for the back, however I don’t have a front rudder on the trolling motor. I’m honestly thinking about doing it to keep me even straighter. The back rudder works AWESOME!
You are the greatest at answering all my questions, Today, I took my 8 out with the 5 hp propane and the motor was down too far I guess, the boat literally took on water from the rear and sunk from back to front. I panicked and thank god another boater was there to help me. To prevent this, should I lift the motor up to a higher level? Also the seat kept sliding back so I could not swing the direction arm. Is there something you do to prevent the seat from sliding back? THank You Again.
I’m honestly not sure on that one, I would test it at a small local pond and excitement until u figure out what works for u! I’m typically in my seat so I don’t have to worry about it sliding back
How did you re-do the wiring?
I got a Mariner 4(inflatable raft) a few years ago. I figured I wasted $400 and would maybe get a couple trips out of it.
I was wrong and that boat holds up just as well as these, but, at the end of the day it is still a heavy wet raft you have to shove in a car or truck after deflating.
That sounds sick! Thanks for sharing
Very well done video man. I want to get one of these boats for small bodies of water and quit using the kayak since I have issues with my back.
That’s why I don’t do kayaks, I get so sore on them!
@@humbugvideos Me too! My knees especially. Also I can’t cast good sitting at water level. Hard to skip it under trees etc to me.
Hey, love your set up! What is the name of the small battery you have powering the fish finder? Did you buy it seperately or did it come with the fish finder?
It’s a 24 group battery from Walmart! I believe it’s an everstart
Wrong battery.
I want this boat sometimes . My issue is I fish 5 days a week so without some sort of trailer I’d have to spend a lot of time installing the gear. My consideration is limitations. I can buy a pedal kayak and move as fast and stable as a trolling motor. I just need a boat, fish finder and a paddle. I can drop a 25lb dumbbell tied to para cord as an anchor. The only thing that sucks about this boat is the seat. I just saw this boat on Craigslist with a trailer, trolling motor, fish finder for $1200 .
Do you pre-drill the holes for the mounts before drilling in the screws?
Yup, all predrilled and then covered in sealant 👍🏽
Just curious as to the line used for anchor or was it what came with the laundry leash?I appreciate the information.
Its whatever the laundry leash had on it, however this year I will likely be making some changes
@@humbugvideos thanks for responding.I found one but the line isn’t braiding.
Great video! How's the transom flex with that outboard motor? I'm thinking about getting a similar set up
With the metal mount on the back there’s little to no flex, it works awesome. I currently don’t have the outboard motor any more as I didn’t use it enough but it worked well for the time I had it!
@@humbugvideos thank you so much for your input. I really appreciate it
So you just have to turn the head around on the trolling motor? What needs rewired?
Yup, there are videos online of how to turn it, the boat is prewired to the front so just plug in and go!
Do you put this on a roof rack? I have a Dodge Journey, I’m wondering if it’ll fit on my rack.
I do! Wanna do a video on it soon
Purchased one, and I keep it floating on a dock on our lake. It continuously gets water down inside the hall after a rain, not necessarily laying on the floor.
Did you install a bilge pump?
No bilge, never had a problem tho
love the vid bro. question, why the 2 motors? are 2 necessary? or ill be fine with minn kota
I use the 2 stroke for the larger lakes because my trolling motor battery could die and I would be stranded. Once I’m at the spot however I only have the trolling motor on
@@humbugvideos the hull is "rated" for 2HP. what does that even mean? I have a 5HP Haswing on order and am extremely skeptical that it's gonna, like, rocket me across the lake and into a tree or something!
@@0xKruzr 5hp should be fine, I wouldn’t use anything over that. Just go easy with the throttle 👍🏽
Been thinking of getting one of these. How do you get it on your car? I think I could get it in if I fold the seats down.
This may help! th-cam.com/video/bWFZvbBPA7I/w-d-xo.html
How do you like your Striker 5CV? Im looking for a finder for both open water and ice fishing. 7:36
Love it. One of the best pieces of equipment I’ve bought!
Use an anchor trolley system for both sides of the boat like a kayak.
Looking into a trolley system, problem is that side space is limited and I try to keep it as open as possible. Have u put one on yours? If so how’d it go?
Hello.whats the manufacture lable state for max. Hp
..ty😊
Do you feel comfortable drilling into the boat? Any problems with it?
No problems thus far, I sealed each hole after installing stuff on and I dont think any water has gotten inside👍🏽
What kind of glue did you use on the floor mats?
I believe just gorilla glue, but to connect them to the boat itself its just a piece of velcrow
Do you go on the river? I am a river person and will this boat go up river with current?
Gonna try it this year! It’ll be a fun video
What kind of battery life do you get with that outboard motor?
If I’m bass fishing I can go a whole day, however tolling I tend to run out around 12-1 o’clock if I start at sunrise
Hello, can you give me the brand name and model for the gas motor you used on this boat? Thanks
All I know is that its a Hangkai 3.6hp motor. I bought it used on FB
This is still my dream boat...do you think this boat can handle waters in hawaii?
I don't see why it wouldn't! Careful in saltwater though, I'm not sure how it do there
What bolts did you use for the snooty
Snooty?
Where did you get the adhesive tape?
Links in the description!
Are you using silicone when screwing into the boat. And are you just screwing or using rivets or anything
No rivets, just marine sealant
@@humbugvideos sweet thank you!
@@mattflores5953 Anytime! Good luck on your build👍🏽
I made my seats with 10x 7" x1" pvc, 4x T connector 1"pvc 4x 1" 45° pvc elbows and 2x 13½" x1" pvc and 4x1" end cap pvc and 1x ¼"×14"×12" plywood. Attached the a Walmart seat cost me approximately 30$ to build
Dude that’s so smart, I’ve gotta make that!
@Humbug Videos if I could send a pic on here I'd show you my seat build.
@@at_tro_sizematters My Facebook and Insta is humbugvideos if u ever wanna show me on there!
@@humbugvideos I sent you pictures on Instagram
Could you use this on rivers ?
Yes, but depends on the river obviously. Works in pretty shallow water which is a nice plus and easy to turn/steer
Love your Mods.. FYI 10 Footer doesn't have the rod handles. Would like to add your link of your mods to my channel..
Go for it, add whatever link you’d like! I appreciate the comment and feedback
How do you put it on your car. That's our biggest issue.
I have a video on it!
I have the same boat still brand new never been used. I been trying to sell it for what i paid for it
Can it fit 2 people?
Yup! Little squished but it works 👍🏽
Order seat from Cabela’s… seat bracket is $35 and seat you can get anywhere but the same seat you have at Cabela’s is $120
Expensive for a seat! I’ve gotta get another one tho, thank you👍🏽
Is anyone besides me getting water inside even if you turn yours upside down while not using it? I have mine upside down to keep it from filling up when it rains but water is still getting into the inside of the hull! If I don't remember to go out and empty it by standing it on it's nose to drain every now and then; It gets so much inside it's too heavy to lift! I'm really ticked off that this thing cost me 600 bucks and fills with water inside even when upside down!
I have my sitting sideways and wrap a tarp over it. Seems to work well!
@@humbugvideos So I take it yours gets water inside the hull too if you don't do something like cover it? I think it's getting in from the seam between the two halfs. (upper and lower ) and they didn't put any silicone/gasket or something in the seam to prevent water from leaking in from that seam all along the boat.
@@tfs4693 mine has a guey substance in between, so if yours doesn’t I’d recommend adding some. I have no idea if water gets in or not, I cover it just to be safe
How does it do with waves and a litter choppy water
Funny u ask, just dropped this vid couple weeks ago! th-cam.com/video/nlxe0sCeVhY/w-d-xo.html
I have one and if I were you I'd put the battery in the center of the boat. If you slide your chair all the way back (while setting on it and in the water) the weight of the gas motor , battery , and you will be to much . So watch out !
Put power poles on it
I’ve got an idea for it!
i actually have an extra sundolphin chair and am in utah if you are ever this way
Are u serious! Does it have the little slide thingy on it?
@Humbug Videos its just the plastic swivel seat that sits in the track. No padding. I actually ordered them directly from the company that bought out sundolphin. They weren't super pricey either. Let me see if i still have their info
@@Vega_4130 yah let me know, thank you! The main thing I need is that track
@@humbugvideos i tried sending you the info did you end up getting it??
@@Vega_4130 where'd ya send it?
