All the dead fish. What a shame! Anytime the govt gets involved in anything, it turns into a mess.
Well, the government created the lake... so everything good thst ever came from it was from them... also, they are making improvements now. Who cares if some drum die? They will be back.
Just imagine the stink and the flies those homeowners are gonna have to put up with!
Thanks Cole for sharing that with us. Yes we would love to see you harvest and save all you can
We're from the Government. We are here to help kinda BS. Such a shame.
Scariest nine words ever spoken
Except that doesn’t apply with this situation at all when you have failing infrastructure the government built…
There are some completely ignorant morons on earth. What they’r e doing is going to help this lake and it’s going to make the lake be even better.
Oh my gosh Cole. It’s heartbreaking to see all those dead fish. I’m looking forward to watching you rescue what you’re able to. I can’t even imagine how you must feel seeing all of it. {hugs}
It’s sad to see Lake Conway like this, I hope this is worth it over time
I agree it needed a lot of work, but a full drain and a half a$$ed plan on what to do with the fish was unnecessary.
Rarely does any governmental project turn out as it is sold to the public-sadly.
Sad to see all t to be dead and dying fish.
Thanks for your efforts and videos Cole.
I just wonder how much longer than the original 5 years it's going to take to even get it refilled with water!
It won't be. It's over. Gone. They destroyed that lake
Hi Cole, Jay, Cyprus and Summer. So sad to see all the dead fish. Can't wait for the lake to be fixed and filled with water. God bless and love yall ❤❤
Hello from the future we can’t travel through time but we can send msgs to the past .,. Lake Conway 100 years later is doing just fine as a world class bass lake , it’s great watching these old 100 year old vids of the lake draining, so glad someone archived it for us to watch as once again the lake is slated to be drained next year . Sad because it just filled back up last week and finally got a crappie over a pound for the first time using technology to beam fish straight on the boat deck .,, we don’t use poles anymore just live beaming scope 😂
Wait till they start building. Reading between the lines when you first explained all this, it sounded like they're going to build houses and condos and apartments and shops and parks ect... like they were more about making it valuable to developers than anything to do with the environment or cleaning up the lake.
I believe that was the whole purpose of their "plan" all along!
Cole… that water is so contaminated. You’re gonna get so sick. 🤦🏻♀️ big rains coming in for a couple of days. Be safe, Man. ✌️😞
"Kinda feels like walking on the moon; even though I have no idea what that feels like." This is a great quote, my friend. Thanks for sharing. Sorry you have to witness all of this.
Cole can you get some of those fish and put them in Beaver Fork Lake or the river. To save them, if you’re not going to eat them.
It makes my heart hurt to see what’s happening to those poor fish. I grew up on Lake Conway fishing with my Granny and Grandpa.
I know that would be a big job. I guess it’s wishful thinking. I hope what they are planning will be worth it.
Thank you for sharing.
Sounds like they lost confidence in the dam. Same thing happened to Arkabutla in Mississippi.
the found a spot that was weak so they drained the lake. we are still waiting for permits. hopefully they will add some more water this time. your lakebed looks almost dead anyway. maybe they can plant the bed. as they begin to fill plant some water grasses that don't grow long etc. need to start putting cypress in the lakebed now.
I wish I lived closer, I would help yall catch'em up. My freezer could use some. Today when I did my Walmart pickup order, I had to pick and choose what I could afford to get.
That's the TRUTH...! I've on fixed income for 15 years (retired), and it's getting to the point of either buying food, paying the light and gas bill, or putting gas in the truck...!
(And, it ain't looking any better for the Future, either...! We NEED a "Regime" change, for sure...!)
I DO have plenty of boneless fillets of Crappie in the freezer though, that I caught last Dec./Jan/Feb., when the Lake HAD water in it (Gold Creek was Good to me!). Haha!
@@MSmith-jf5wo I'm also on a fixed income and raising a 4 year old grandson. There's zero in my bank account until the 1st. My bills are "basically" paid but this economy is killing me.
Hopefully Trump will be in the White House in January. That should help things
Here in Louisiana a company made a lure that looks like the first lure you found called the Picou Perch that was popular. You would have to be old school to remember that.
It's sad to see so many fish die. Thank you for sharing.
Would not that water be diseased and full of bacteria? If so, I do not think I would eat fish from it.
It is sad what is happening to the lake.
no there's always disease in the water thats why you cant drink lake water without boiling it. Also if you cooked your fish instead of eating it raw would kill any diseases.
With hardly any water temps going up you knew this was coming. Stock your freezers is all you can do. Do it soon otherwise they can all get bacteria growing eventually.
Not going to lie, it hurts more than I thought it would 😕 sad, mad, depressed and just bummed out. One I was hoping to catch a lot more for the freezer and two I just wanted to fish the old ponds to see if I could catch a true giant. Just sucks
Hey our lake has got a lot of Japanese Crap init from Mississippi River that the state of Arkansas released in the river now they are everywhere in lakes all around in Tennessee but I’m not crying about it all the time atleast your lake might get to make a better come back than my fishing lake now the comment I made about Arkansas released those Japanese crap into the Mississippi River this is what I’ve been told from people in Tennessee
The first yellow and black lure was called a Bayou Boogie, the original ones are made by Heddon. 😁👌
Might be a heddon but could be multiple others that stole the design lol. I couldn't think of the name of that lure to save my life for some reason. I collect vintage lures too 🤷♂️😂. I just drew a blank when I seen it.
@@blind_eye_fishing yeah I've got a pretty large collection of old lures from the thirties and stuff. I don't have any bayou boogies though I actually used to use them! 😆
@@Opiemus I think I may have one boogie and a knockoff lol. I try to get all my vintage lures in the wild at flea markets or yard sales so don't run up on a ton but from time to time I'll find a few and grab them. I've fished a lot of the old baits back in the day but now I just put them in boxes so I don't lose them 😂
I've been watching for years and I still don't remember why they would drain that lake? IMHO, that does so much harm to the ecosystem in that area. As you said, heartbreaking. Thanks for the video.
They knew this was going to happen. What i dont understand is how the lake is going to get back what it looses after 5 years.
It WILL take time, for sure...! The F&G are talking bout stocking the lake with Panfish for the first couple of years, then introducing some Florida-strain Bass. I'll be dead and gone, by then! Haha!
I lived on a lake in Wisconsin. It dried up due to drought. It was very sad to see. It was just such a beautiful lake.
I went fishing yesterday at Ramsey Slough at Batesville Arkansas, my fish locater said the water temperature was 92 degrees
Shameful of the AGFC to not have any kind of plan get a bigger percentage of those fish atleast into the river.
Since they drained it they should be held responsible for all of the different species being saved and put them into the local river systems and kept alive too
Drum need cool running water to survive. They will be the first. I had try to keep them as live bait and they usually don't make it. Get a net stock up freezers while you can
I sure did lose track of time. I thought that the lake was already completely drained like forever ago, and was already filling back up almost ready to be fished. Did I miss something? Sorry to see...
Thank you for your hard work and all the fun.
Lake is slated to be down for 5 years
I’ve seen a few small lakes that froze bottom to top in extreme winter and spring will look like that.
I can smell it from my phone, lol.
The black And yellow bait looked like a Pico Perch.
someone should have been called in to net the lake. all those fish are good eating including drum. they could sell as a discount or be frozen and sold over time.
I really hope whatever they plan to do with Lake Conway is worth it. I enjoyed fishing the 89 bridge and the dam 😢
Sad to see in as usual in the name of Improvenent the animals and fish pay the price. Hopefully Beryl will provide some rain for oxygen and cool the water down and hopefully wash some fish past the drain.
I'll quote Buzz Aldrin about the moon. "Magnificent desolation!".
thats so sad Thank you for the video
So sad! God bless you all!
I'm thinking the yellow lure you found is a Heddon Sonic.
devastating.
That first lure was called a swimming minnow. Used them a lot when I was a kid
can you tell us what they are going to do with this lake? it's so sad seeing this
What’s so sad is that it seems that those who started this project isn’t there tending to the project at all!
Cole take 20 or 50 sticks a dynamite drill it 50’ into the bottom of the deepest hole and light the fuse then u have a fishing hole again lol but I agree it isn’t fair to fishing ppl nor the fish and wildlife
I can say I know how much this hurts you and J…😢
The CORP. gonna do what they thinks that needs to be done. White River feeds East Lake…….
It was good to meet you yesterday wish you had caught some channel cat with us
Wonder if they are going to clean the trees and logs our of it before letting water back in
Cole you should go out on the drained lake and do some medal detecting probably make some good content
so gut wrenching
So sad all of the dead fish - 🐟 - makes me mad at the Fish & Game there in Arkansas! They have a lot to clean up!
You found a Bayoo Boogie first
Conway was a very healthy lake. Too bad their plan was so poorly thought out. Good video but sad.
Thank you sharing I hate to see so many fish just killed off like that
💔😞 so unnecessary…
I’ve been dreading this… sickening…🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 it’s cruel! I hate the commission. Such waste!!
Thanks for doing the dirty work Cole.
so great! i follow you...
I’m kinda surprised there wasn’t a bunch of birds eating on those fish.
No Cole don’t eat anything out of there right now
Love the channel very machs.
Greeting from Belgium and my Georges.
So sorry for your lake and fish
This is very sad.Why for sure is it being drained. I'm old and I'd bet someone is going to make a ton of money from whatever project this is supposed to help. Where are the snakes going to go, lets hope not in peoples yards or pools. Take care of yourself and family.
Big Lake, certainly a sad ending for many fish.
Crazy to see how much temper is in there!
We have been in drought the last couple of years it's fun to walk on were water use to be I have gotten tons of lures were people lost them. Check those trees ect. So sad to see those fish go to waste. I would think the smell would get bad eventually Environment agency's should get involved due to what bacteria should grow or the amount of predators it could bring. Stock freezers before much longer then I wouldn't eat them.
it really sucks how all those recourses are just going to waste
Poor lake Conway. I’ve heard they did the same to Lake Monticello long time ago and the Lake hasn’t been the same.
Hey Cole and jay ❤
That's uncalled for. Bad planning on draining the lake. Catch them you two. There's people who would enjoy a fish for dinner. God bless you two.
OK firefighters safety is also part of the 7 phase project
Why did they drain it?
Sad to see all those dead fish!
Unfortunately that's a forgone conclusion. Sad situation!
That is so sad
Why are they draining the lake?
I got a chance to talk with one of the biologist recently. And yes, it sucks to see right now. But after my conversation, I'm confident that the end result of this project is going to be absolutely amazing. I don't fully understand the process. But I do know, from doing plenty of research, that the healthiest bodies of water around the country experience frequent draw downs just like this.
Sad sad to see the dead fish!
What a depressing sight.😢
Very sad
It looks like there is going to be some fresh water coming in tomorrow or the next day....
could also be turned into cat food etc. even now those dead fish could be harvested for fertilizer.
I wonder what happened to that alligator?
Come by and grab that fishing bow and a couple of fish-arrows I can loan ya. (Ready to go, with the "finger-savers" already on the bow string. Got line on the reel, too!).
You know the dead fish are nasty when there are no vultures or buzzards in sight.
Even vultures have their standards, they won't eat anything that's over 24 hours old, besides which they are all up keeping busy in Chicago.
Unfortunately I knew that was coming and I also know that it will take a decade for it to bounce back after they refill it and stock it. If they don't stock it that time frame will be much longer. Most and if not all the stuck fish will die. Along with any other aquatic life that used that lake as a home.
I'm surprised you haven't found a mother load of lures out there lol. That first one is a popular vintage design and I think might be a heddon.
Conway is about to stink literally
Hey thank you for putting me in ur video
You bet bro!
So sad.
You think they would of pull permits before draining the lake. They could of shocked the lake and trander the fish to another lake
Hard to see the lake like this……
I think you’re about to get some rain !!
😥 thats so sad
I have or had a contact for bulk trees!
Wow that's a nasty environment!
Dang. I just watched a video from Arms Family where their bass pond turned over in the heat and killed a bunch of fish. This lake situation is also terribly sad. Wish there was a better way to save or humanely dispatch these poor creatures. Dying from the heat/elements is a brutal way to go.
Rip 😮 it's a shame its a reality thank you
Early this morning 8 July 24, I went fishing at dam #1 in Batesville and I caught three or four little channel cats, a couple of drum and something BIG! It stayed deep and just as I was getting it to the bank my line broke. I never got to see what it was.
A batesville dam special! Haha
Wonder how much longer until they put that chemical in the water takes the oxygen out of the water?
Please don't eat any of them too much bacteria, you mentioned about doing something new, take some tackle, cut you guys some old school cane poles, done that when was a kid, grew up in southeast MO, great times, love you guys God Bless be safe!
Lure pickin’!😊
If its lake Conway(man made) they are drainng to remove the majority of stumps and mark the canal and remove trash fish. If its Nimrod its to kill the trash fish that eat the game fish. Then restock with game fish.
I would keep them in some kind of pool in clean water with flowing oxygen for a week to clean them up
What lake is this again?
What lake was this
Get Daniel Arms and Houston bow fish love it
