I adore this film. It's so sad that Disney tried to make this film bomb hard, but the lucky few who've experienced this film as kids and grown up to become Jimbo's ourselves will never let this film die.
The rumors about them intentionally bombing it to kill off their 2D animation department are just rumors. I really doubt Disney tried to make this film bomb (no studio would ever do that to their profit margins) but did horribly mismanage it by marketing it without understanding its tone or demographic, as well as giving it a release date that put it up against one of their popular winter franchises (The Santa Clause) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, which they severely underestimated the draw of (just like they did when they passed on having Harry Potter at Walt Disney World - it's not impossible). But the proof is in the amount of investment they did in this movie's release - if they wanted it to bomb they would not have made it the first debut animated feature with an IMAX release (that's an investment), a strategy they were using because it saw success with re-releases of older films.
Chester Kiwi unfortunately the rumors are true. I visited Disney Animation Studios with our college film class about two years back. None of their early 2000’s films like Atlantis, Emperors Groove, or this film is found around the studio. Our tour guide said that unfortunately that was a dark time for Disney and they were great for a time, but not enough to be considered among their best work. The animators loved talking about those films though because they all grew up with them, with some veterans having worked on the production crews.
I lived with my grandmother for a few years helping take care of her after I ran away from my abusive home. She gave me a chance when many other wouldn't. I got to find a career in a field I love, help with my depression and myself. As of yesterday she passed away and I was holding her hand. She went peacefully at 91 years old with family and friends by her side. Happy one of the last things we said to eachother was "I love you" Grandma, if you somehow get wifi up there and you're reading this. I love you and I will always know where you are. I always related to Jim's character more than any Disney character. In a lot of aspects my life has been a lot like his, so it always hit home. This movie and soundtrack will forever be apart of me.
As I approach my 30th year of life, I've found genuine sincere self love after spending almost all of those 30 years hating myself. As a teenager I related more to "I'm still here" because of how invisible I felt. And to a degree, I still feel that way. But because of the self love I've found, I'm okay with being invisible. But now I relate more to "Always Know Where You Are", and I see it more as a way to address my younger selves. "This place I never thought would feel like home. And I ran forever, far away, and I always thought I'd end up here alone". I see that as learning to be more comfortable in my own skin. And if it wasn't for my younger selves resisting the urge to go through with suicidal thoughts, I wouldn't be here. And now I'm thankful for every painful second.
Literally in the same boat. Turning 30 in a month. I also grew up alone and suicidal. Though it's movie characters like Jim that brought me hope, and taught me to endure the pain because the end result is always better.
This was beautifully said and I’m so glad that you’re “still here” and embracing yourself, past and present. Can def relate to discovering true self love in recent years, I’ll be 32 this month. Better late than never 👍🏾
Beautiful animation, amazing story, good father figure, introverted loner, great humor, script and redemption. Treasure Planet is an underrated masterpiece.

I now can look in a mirror and smile for the first time in a month now that I know she's always there for me no matter what. Its an under rated movie with an under rated soundtrack. Its still gonna be one of my top five favorite movies from Disney.

I always loved this song and the other one. When I got older and started listening to the goo goo dolls more, it finally clicked..... OMG that John!!! My favorite artist signing my favorite song from one of my favorite movies 😊
When this song started in the credits and when John Silver showed up in the clouds it was just wonderful. It's one of the amazing songs for a Disney movie. Like, I never skipped the credits because I wanted to listen to it! 💚💕Too bad this movie is this underrated.
100% one of the most underrated Disney movies of all time. So it's only fitting that the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls, one of the most underrated bands of the 90s and early 2000s should sing the main theme of the movie. Loved this so much as kid. ❤️💕
Can't describe it. Thank you. The simplest things, like putting up this song in hd with a picture like that, can hit harder than some more complicated works of art.
It's 2021, and i've decided to watch this masterpiece after 18 years... Gosh, man.... I have so many feelings about it... I promise i'll show it to my kids

@@yndvoh There's no way to get the Rzeznik version aside from ripping the audio straight from the movie. This is some strange edit with the BBMak instrumental and the Rzeznik's vocals - it sounds like who made the track filtered out the BBMak vocals as best they could and plopped the entirety of the Rzeznik version in to cover the instrumental frequencies they had to cut in order to remove the BBMak vocals. I've been working on the original from the movie in my spare time for past year or so, trying to downmix from surround sound to stereo. It sounds good where it is right now except for the snare being too high in the mix and the guitars not being strong enough. @@likasomeboooDEE Look, I'm not disputing that you got it in 2002-2003 but I work with audio engineers and I know what a professional recording sounds like; I'm familiar with the production style of Rob Cavallo, who has worked with Rzeznik both on the Treasure Planet songs and with him for a majority of the Goo Goo Dolls' studio releases. This doesn't sound like a professional recording by Cavallo or industry standards. You may have gotten it around the time of the film's release but I can tell you without a doubt this is a fan edit of the soundtrack version with the movie version. I think the original version is great; I like it more. But I can tell by listening that this isn't it. Even past the production irregularities, BBMak did an entirely new recording for the soundtrack that sounds very different from the movie credit version. Rzeznik's acoustic guitar is one of the most notable differences, as his is much rawer. This guitar sounds exactly the same as it did on BBMak's version, very strongly produced and percussive. For most people, these things won't matter and since they don't listen for these things it won't make a difference. Where has this film been when I was 13? I can't believe I missed out on this in my formative teenage years. I'm 16 now and I missed the chance to experience this good film at such a young age. Not that watching it at a later age is a bad thing but this could have been a part of my moral compass. :( Daaaaaarrrrrrn.
Don't let your age decide whether something or someone acts as an influence on your moral compass. To you, it may seem like a shame you missed something as a kid but if you let it now, it can still have a positive change or influence to who you are now or who you'll become. In short, don't regret the fact you didn't find it early on, be glad about the fact you have found it now and relish that feeling.
Angelo De Pascalis

Rzeznik's acoustic guitar is one of the most notable differences, as his is much rawer. This guitar sounds exactly the same as it did on BBMak's version, very strongly produced and percussive.
For most people, these things won't matter and since they don't listen for these things it won't make a difference. That's fine - you just need to know this is neither the original nor an official version of the song. I'm not trying to undermine you; I'm trying to make sure people are informed. Just compare it with the official video that's posted. th-cam.com/video/dftJkLvV18M/w-d-xo.html
@@likasomeboooDEE thank you for doing that!! i love rzeznik’s voice it suits the song so much better :) i was really sad they removed this song from spotify altogether so i’m going to download this one onto my phone!

The two songs from this movie sums up my life up until now, beginning with "I'm still here".
I think this is my new favorite song. it makes me feel things. so many things. WE NEED THIS BACK ON SPOTIFY AND ITUNES
When you achieved your goal and had a moment to think about what you've went thru to reach it ❤

“You’re gonna rattle the stars ye are”
I always loved this song and Treasure Planet
THIS SONG IS THE BEST !!!!
I was watching Treasure Planet yesterday. Still have it on dvd, it's one of my favourite Disney films and I love this song.
can i say this is a very underrated movie i loved this movie
This is hands down my favorite movie
I miss childhood 😥 but this great song and great movie
Great movie and song
One of my favorite male-oriented Disney films!
Gonna be listening to this while i play starfield tonight. This song is so nostalgic to me.
This song makes me feel like I’m not alone anymore
Such an awesome song, can't believe it doesn't have more views.
John really should've also made his own solo records, that would've been great too!
The best Disney song ever.
I never forget butterfly effects moment. 🦋
I wish he my soulmate then life is strange.
i love this man! please never stop!
it sucks that the official soundtrack has only the version by BBMak, whoever the hell that is

(I know this is a 3 year old comment but still)
Angelo De Pascalis

Great Song & Movie :)
its good to see the sun and feel this place.
I dont care what Disney think about their own movies. This movie was one of their best for a long time, without all their tiresome and classical Disney romance.
God it's been to long since I watched treasure planet I heard the first few notes and instantly teared up
Why the hell is this not on Spotify
THIS is soo nice .CRYING INSIDE BECAUSE NOBODY listens 2 THESE KIND OF SONGs ANYMORE

I'm not sure why this one isnt, but "I'm still here" is on spotify
I'm Still Here is on Spotify, but yeah, I don't know.
I saw a video about Treasure Planet last night and heard all these great things about it. The music is good so I guess it is time for me to go back and watch this one.
