So cool that they decided to play anyway. A lot of bands would have called it off.

I was here with my father. He loved goo goo dolls. He died in 2010. I never ever knew this was filmed.. I find this recommended. It brings back such great memories and the memory of him screaming the lyrics. I am now a father myself at 35.. My dad was at this concert. The crew wanted to cancel the show to save the audio equipment worth thousands. But the lead singer refused and put on one of the greatest performances for a song of all time and this video will go down in history hundreds of years from now

They must be able to hear themselves singing, and possibly any IFB that might be used. In-ear monitors are not "protectors", though they aren't nearly as loud as a wall of speakers playing over 120dB.
A lot of the rock/alternative bands from the early 2000s still recorded their songs live in the studio so their live performances usually sounded just as good.
They were warned about equipment damage but played anyway in the rain. Such an amazing performance to go back to and watch on repeat, taking in all of the details.

I was there and it was without a doubt the most incredible live event imaginable. The crowd singing this song in the torrential downpour was bordering on nuclear. It was a legendary night for the City of Buffalo.
Imagine being John, playing a old classic song of yours that changed your life forever, a song you wrote just before almost giving up on being a songwriter, in the rain for a crowd of thousands of lifelong fans. Over a decade later, people still watch and enjoy this concert.

I really appreciate the fact that despite it being 2004, it was still filmed in HD. TH-cam didn't even support HD til 2010. Whoever made that decision to use those cameras knew this moment was going to be one of the most beautiful things to ever happen.

This is so true, but I’m going to a concert in March next year, and I’m certainly filming a few of my favourite songs. The Goo Goo Dolls are an amazing pair of people, and I want to cherish and remember the gorgeous performance forever. I agree completely, concerts aren’t to be filmed, for your attention is focused on your screen, and not the bigger picture. Concerts are to be enjoyed and appreciated.

In the city in America most famous for it's great Lakes epic precipitation. I'm not even a Goo Goo Dolls fan, and knew this just from the title. It is more than most people realize. After their lives totally changed, this was return to their hometown, where the community had supported them for years, though they never had a hit. Many in the crowd were family and friends that had supported them throughout the years, in a concert in the middle of Buffalo. The city famous for it's precipitation, became a star in the show.
My son is 14, and neck deep in songwriting. I sent him this as an example of the cohesive power of life performance , and told him it’s one of rocks best live performances. Learn from authenticity.

Usually bands close up shop when it rains like this. It can ruin instruments and electrical equipment. Even if it ruined ever bit of hardware seen here and more, it was worth it. This is still talked about and viewed 20 years later in 2024 and seen as one of the best live performances of any band all time, and some of that due to the rain giving the esthetic effect of sadness, cleansing, renewal, all in one session. A wonderful song about love, loss, and knowing you must give up something to truly feel alive. It's not just the song, but the moment and everyone feeling the emotions together in peace while being rained on yet all parties involved wanting to be there. We need more of this.

I've cried so many times on this song during highschool period. I really appreciate the fact that despite it being 2004, it was still filmed in HD. TH-cam didn't even support HD til 2010. Whoever made that decision to use those cameras knew this moment was going to be one of the most beautiful things to ever happen.

This is so true, but I’m going to a concert in March next year, and I’m certainly filming a few of my favourite songs. The Goo Goo Dolls are an amazing pair of people, and I want to cherish and remember the gorgeous performance forever.

In the city in America most famous for it's great Lakes epic precipitation. I'm not even a Goo Goo Dolls fan, and knew this just from the title. To paraphrase a great philosopher: "Fat, drunk and ignorant is no way to go through life, son."
The rain made everything worth it. What a moment in time to be there at the concert. These people are so lucky to experience that.

This was perfect ! No phones, no crazy lights. Just the crowd, the Rain and the most iconic performance i have ever witnessed.
Truth, but cell phones had existed for years by the time of this concert, just no iPhones for another couple years. People probably just didn’t want to ruin their phones.
Usually bands close up shop when it rains like this. It can ruin instruments and electrical equipment. Even if it ruined ever bit of hardware seen here and more, it was worth it. This is still talked about and viewed 20 years later in 2024 and seen as one of the best live performances of any band all time, and some of that due to the rain giving the esthetic effect of sadness, cleansing, renewal, all in one session.
A wonderful song about love, loss, and knowing you must give up something to truly feel alive. It's not just the song, but the moment and everyone feeling the emotions together in peace while being rained on yet all parties involved wanting to be there. We need more of this.
