    Mityvac makes excellent products. I've had my mityvac for more than twenty years and it still works great.

    My shop has both manual and shop air. Since I'm the lowest and "Stupid" tech I was throwing out my trash and see someone threw the shop air one in the trash. I asked why. Supervisor said "Dont worry about it / not your business a real tech said it didnt work. Get back to your work." I can keep it? "Yeah".
    So all I did was take the screws off top, took top off, no gasket leaks, what the issue was the auto overfill valve was 98% activated and stuck. I went through everything since I'm there, little gasket maker on the screws, let it sit overnight. It worked just fine. I never seen it new don't know how it should of been."Real Tech" watch me testing everything, saw how fast it was. I came back from lunch and it was gone... He locked it up in his toolbox / locker...... wow

      Wow is right! Sounds like that shop is one where you need to lock everything and put your name on stuff.

    Subaru now puts a small access cover on the skid plate for the oil drain plug. Subaru is also has there oil filter on the top so you might as well just avoid going under the car and extract the oil.

    Thank you for this video. I want to use one to extract and to pump fluid (differential and transmission oil changes). What do you use to clean it?

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Marshall, the extractor I reviewed won’t pump clean fluid out, it’s one-way only. A great 2-way tool is also a Mityvac, but it’s a big syringe. Part number is 6852, it has a 1.5 liter capacity. Here’s an Amazon associate link if you want to see it: amzn.to/3jaYOcs
      As far as cleaning, all I do is empty the old fluid, draw some clean fluid in and empty again. Hope this helps.

    Great video; I like your review process too. What would you recommend for an air compressor? Not a regular mechanic yet as one is still under warranty and the other has needed very little even though it’s a 2007. Thanks!

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gail, thanks for your question. Simple answer is to tell you that I run a 2hp, 30 gallon unit that runs on 220v AC. It does most of what I need, but can’t keep up with die grinders and cut-off tools.
      If you are asking for one that will run this evacuator tool, I’d say even a small 5 gallon would do it, but in that case I’d actually recommend just buying the manual hand pump evacuator: amzn.to/3t4wDz7
      But, just like everything, you get what you pay for in air compressors. So I am saving for an 80 gallon upgrade for my shop.
      Happy wrenching!

    Just got mine in the mail today along with the oil for mine and my wife's car. My only concern is figuring out how much oil to replace what's taken out. The 2 quart lines are nice but how do you figure it out if it's not exactly at a line?

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Experiment with it. I’d use a ruler and a sharpie to make a couple more graduation marks.

    Great video review! Totally agree with a lot of what you said. Can you comment on how large of a compressor you need to run this device properly? I have a 2 gallon compressor with a maximum PSI of 150, and I’m wondering if this is enough. The manual states it needs 80-120PSI, but would the 2 gallon capacity be enough (assuming I use it correctly as you demonstrated in your video), thanks!

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Henry, thanks for your question. I have a small-mid size compressor (35 gal) and it can supply the evacuator only kicking the compressor on every minute or so. I know, because I leave it connected and forget sometimes.
      A 2 gallon compressor might struggle to keep it going, worst case scenario being you loose vacuum. For your shop, I would recommend the manual pump.

  • @ckonthebay1950
    @ckonthebay1950 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just ordered one of these. I was wondering though, Is there any type of relief valve that opens so you don’t pull to much of a vacuum? Maybe it’s not possible but I don’t know. Last thing I want is an imploding tank of oil all over the shop. Thanks

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The venturi inside can pull just over 20” of vacuum then stops having an effect on the chamber. That’s with my setup, I run about 130psi line pressure on my compressor. (Tool is only rated for 90psi by the way) You could leave it on all day, you’d just be working your air compressor for no reason. Hope that helps, happy wrenching.

    How do you clean it best before using it again on another type fluid? Is there a hose use flush system into abcontainer to extract the fluid inside the evacuator tank?

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hose fitting on top of the canister just pulls off so you can pour the fluid into a recycling container. As far as the hoses go, I just hang them up and let them drip back into the canister.

    My 2012 Chevy truck has a small dipstick tube. Will it work
    On a truck like that?

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Rick. I’m assuming engine oil is what you’re talking about. I haven’t tried that with a GM, but it did work on a Ford F150 oil dipstick tube. I’d recommend warming it up, because cold oil running through the small tube takes a while.

  • @Jerry-jg1io

    would a small 30 litre compressor be OK for this?

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jerry, thanks for your question. Simple answer is to tell you that I run a 2hp, 30 gallon unit that runs on 220v AC. It does most of what I need, but can't keep up with die grinders and cut-off tools. It handles this evacuator fine, only starting the motor every 5-6 minutes. I'd say even a small 30 liter would do it, but it would probably run continuously or cycle very often. Just like everything, you get what you pay for in air compressors. So I am saving for an 80 gallon upgrade for my shop.
