Installing the Corsair Commander Pro with LED strips in a Meshify C Case

  • In this video I show how I installed or rather setup the Corsair Commander Pro together with 3 HD120 fans, and 4 RGB LED strips in the Meshify C case.
    I previously bought the RGB LED Strips extension kit, and as it turned out I needed a Lighting Node Pro or a Commander pro to make those work. Buying a single Lightning Node Pro isn't much cheaper than buying the Commander Pro, so I figured the Commander would be a better investment.
    So the Commander Pro is a RGB controller like the NZXT Hue+, but it's also a fan controller, a thermal sensor controller and even has a 2 port USB hub. All of which you can control with the iCue software - I also show a little setup within that in the video.
    The cable management will need some planing for this one :) That part isn't included - am planning on making some changes, like moving the RGB fans to the front and see if that AIO couldn't be fitted to the top instead.

      Yeah, I think if they had gone for chaining the LED's in the fans instead of requiring the RGB LED Hub for the fans, that would have removed a lot of the clutter. Then all you would need would be the lightning node pro or the commander pro.
      The Fractal Design Prisma fans have got it the right way - they can be chained and connects directly into the LED header on your motherboard.

      @MrGarfi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@milannekuhh9818 Uh that is going to be one lit case :D So, that case actually comes with a lighting node core module on the back that can control up to 6 fan lights even the ligthing node pro from the LL120 3 pack bundle is needed as far as I can tell. The AIO it self also controls the fan lights itself.
      But that is just the lights - you might run out of fan headers on the motherboard to power the fans (6 fans and a pump right), also both the AIO and the case itself will require 2 USB 2.0 headers on your motherboard. If your motherboard only have 1 USB 2.0 port and you need extra fan control then I would suggest getting that commander pro. Otherwise don't get it.

      You need both, but it is worth it for cable management. The Commander Pro just powers the fans, while the Lighting Node Pro powers the LEDs. I have two of the Lighting Node Pros since I have 9 fans, a gpu backplate, and a gpu support bracket that all need to be plugged into them. It seems daunting with all the extra wires for just RGB, but the commander and node really lets you localize them to one spot.

      If only one fan is ligthing up, first make sure you have it connected correctly - you need to use port 1 to 3 on the hub, otherwise it wont work. Also make sure you set the correct number os fans in the iCue software. Best of luck :)

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey 365fuji, I can't find anything on their page about those fans in the case other than it can be controlled with Asus/MSI/Gigabyte motherboard software, which leads me to believe that they have a "standard" LED pin that you can connect directly to your motherboard (If it has a LED input). In that case then you cannot use it with the Commander Pro. You can of course always connect it for powering the fans, just not for controlling the lights on them.

    So I'm trying to figure something out. Will using the Commander Pro allow you to control individual LEDs on each light strip? Like can I manually set each LED to just be a different color and leave it that way? Or are you stuck to iCue presets?

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, so you can actually control each individual LED on the strips, but it is a little tedious to do because you have to add a color effect for each, and everytime you add a color effect it applies to all the LED's and then you have to specify that it should only apply to a certain LED...but it can be done.
      However I have only tried that for static colors. Hmm might be worth making a video about that, its really hard to explain in writing :D
      Oh and I just have to say, you don't specifically need the commander pro to control the lights, you only need a ligthning node pro, if you don't need the fan control.

      @@k.f.cchicken2807 Ah I need to be sure here - do you mean controlling the fan speed also? If thats the case, then yeah sure the commander pro can control the speed on any type of fan no matter the brand (Unless it's the cheap ones that can't change they speed without voltage change). But when it comes to the lights then it have to be Corsair fans.
      But what case fans are you talking about here - what case is it?

    So if my mother board only has 4 fan headers and I have techincally 7 rgb fans (including the CPU fan) I would need a fan hub as well right? Sorry if it's a dumb question new the game

      @GAMERS 99 No afraid not, you can only connect the RGB fans to it through the RGB fan LED hub, and that one only supports Corsair fans.

      Hi Isaac, I actually only used 3 of them - back, top and front. You can see them installed here:
