  • This video shows how to connect your LL120 series fans to the RGB hub and the hub to the lighting node pro. The catch is that the cable to connect the two units was not included in my set, so I improvised by using a 3 pin cable from an old RC airplane that worked perfectly.

    Thanks so much ! I ordered the Obsidian Series 500D RGB SE case and when I looked at how it was all wired up, I had NO idea how it all worked, and the manual isn't much help. So this helps a great deal. When I try to hook it all up, I might leave a question or a comment to help others in the same situation.

    I am planing to build my pc VERY soon, I am going with Corsair's 280x and will replace my AIO fans with these as well as get two more, so 6 of these fans altogether. The case comes with both the rgb hub and a lighting node pro. Will I need anything else besides a PSU needing two sata power plugs? I can simply take the fan hub and plug it into my PWM slot on mobo? Thanks so much!

      So the fan hub in the case refers to JUST the RGB wires coming from each fan. Each fan has an RGB lead and a pwm power lead. So, if your motherboard doesn't have 6 pwm fan headers, or your case doesn't have a hub to power the fans themselves, then you will need a separate pwm fan hub. For example, do a search for Deepcool pwm fan hub and you will see the type of Gizmo you will need. Mind you, that one only supports four fans, hence it just being an example. Any more questions, fire away buddy, i'm here to help! 😁

    To connect 8 fans exactly, if you need:
    comander pro
    node core x2
    buy a comander and a package of double fan LL140 and one individual. 3 front fans LL120 to a radiator of 360mm
    fuck with corsair, these guys know how to squeeze your wallet

    Everytime you're saying fans... I'm thinking the actual fan power connectors. For people who are new to RGB products, each fan comes with two connectors. One being your regular power connector and the other being the LED rgb connector that is connected to these hubs you see in this video. Please don't try to jam the power connectors into these rgb hubs and ruin the pins. lol.

    Hi, I have the same case you got, the NZXT S340 Elite, and I want to do the same thing you did, 3 120s and 1 140 on top. I saw that you put the 2 radiator fans as intakes but behind the radiator, by doing this you won’t lose performance and get higher temperatures on the cpu?
    I have a H100i V2 but I placed the fans as intakes and the radiator behind them, getting the air that they pulled from the outside, and maintaining like this the 2 rgb fans will be hidden between the case and the radiator.
    Sorry for the long comment, but I’m curious about this.

      I haven't tested the front intake fans in the other configuration like you describe, but I get fantastic temps on my system. I use the DeepCool Captain EX RGB and it is by far THE best AIO cooler I've used. My PC with an intel i7-7700k idles between 29 and 34 degrees Celsius and when playing games, it almost never goes past 52 C. I wanted to see the fans and thankfully it has worked out.

      SpartanReptile The RGB hub plugs into the node pro, the node pro plugs into your computer by an included mini USB to USB motherboard header cable. The power cables for the fans plug into your motherboard fan headers or to a fan hub that plugs into a 4 pin fan header on the motherboard such as the one for the CPU, if you don't have enough headers on the motherboard. Hope this helps.

    OK..great for HALF of the install.. thanks for clarifying how to connect the RBG...but what about the POWER for the fans? Is that the USB connectors? Also, the instructions are a bit vague, there are TWO wires for each fan...do I have to connect them BOTH? I'm new at this, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the video.

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey James! You do need to connect both leads from the fans if you want them to spin and light up! The 4 pin fan power cable will either connect to a 3 or 4 pin fan header on your motherboard or if you don't have enough fan headers on your mobo, you would need to get a fan hub. I use a fan hub that allows 4 fans to be hooked up. I then plugged the hub into the CPU header so all fans would be controlled by my CPU temps. The other lead as explained in the video is for the light show. The only part that has a USB connection is the lighting node pro itself. Hope that helps.

    • @jamesbowerman5477
      @jamesbowerman5477 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Clayton, thanks a bunch for the quick reply and additional info. Just so ya know, i meant the "instructions" that came with the fans are a bit vague, it doesn't say where to hook up the other wire. I have read that some fans, you do NOT hook up BOTH wires or you can short out your mobo, but I guess that's for static fans. (I thought maybe the SATA connection somehow ( meant SATA not USB, sorry) provided power). I'll look into fan hubs, but until I get one, could I just use a splitter (a 1 to 3 way) to hook up my 3 front fans to one mobo fan header?, I plan to have them all spin at the same speed anyway from the front.
      Again, I appreciate any help or info you can give on this, especially since corsair isn't too fast at responding, lol. BTW, I have submitted these questions to Corsair support, no answer yet.
      So, yes, your reply and info is indeed very helpful, just what I needed to know, so thank you very much for that.
      I think it's too bad that Corsair didn't make this set up a bit easier and "cleaner", like including a fan hub/controller/commander, especially for the price, or doing like Thermaltake did with their Riing Plus set (much like this set) making them with "one" wire/connection to hook up that supplies power and RBG and making the fans able to daisy chain or TT's Riing Trio, which uses one "command box"....hmmm, maybe a return is in order on my part? LOL...
      Thanks again Clayton, you've been a big help.
      Edit;..I have read it is not advised to connect more than 2 fans to a splitter as it may mess with voltage...so I'd go with a 2 fan splitter in the case of front fans.

    I am guessing that each of the fans still have to be connected to a fan header to make them spin? But if so, and your motherboard only has one CHA-FAN header... how do you connect up to six fans to it without blowing your board?

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fan hub I'm using on my system is from my Deepcool Captain EX RGB All in one liquid cooler. It handles four, 3 or 4 pin fans. No issues for me, but I would guess more fans than that connected to one fan header might be too much of a power draw. I suppose you could either buy another one of those fan hub's (see link below) or get one that doesn't require being plugged into a motherboard fan header. although with that option, you can't control fan speed/curves. The last option I have for you is the Commander Pro. It has 6 PWM fan ports built into it and it takes it takes in supplemental power from a SATA cable. Fan speed/curves are controlled by the iCUE software from what I understand. Hope this helps.

    Where do I plug in the fans if I have a Corsair h150i AIO cooler? Thanks!

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      JeBron P Lames That depends if you are referring to the RGB cable or the power cable of each fan. RGB requires either a hub that is included in the 3 pack of LL120 fans, or the commander pro. Fan power requires a fan header on the motherboard or a fan hub where the hub plugs into a fan header on the motherboard and then each can plugs into it. Or the commander pro which seems to do it all. I know that's a lot of info, so I hope it helps clear things up for you.

    • @michaelposmyk1831
      @michaelposmyk1831 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clayton Olson I’m pretty sure that the h150i pro has 3 fan connectors but I’m not positive. That’s why I asked you. I’m building my pc pretty soon with the same fans and I’m worried mostly about this part 😂

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just checked out that cooler and it has a splitter to go from one 4 pin fan connection to 3 for the included fans, but it doesn't support more than 3, so if you are using the 3 ML fans included and some of the LL series as well, then you are going to need the RGB hub and the node pro, or just the commander pro and the RGB hub. another thing to remember is that the cooler, commander pro and the node pro will require a USB 2.0 header on the motherboard, so if you only have one like I do and it's being used for say the front USB ports, then the commander pro is the better bet because it will use that header but has two on board for other devices. Let me know if you need any more help. I'll do my best to do so!

      I just noticed a mistake in what I told you. If you use the Node Pro with the RGB hub, you will still need more fan headers on the motherboard, or you would need to get a PWN fan hub like this one. (DeepCool PWM Fan Hub)
      www.ebay.com/itm/DeepCool-4-Port-PWM-Fan-Hub/262478753019?epid=1656538159&hash=item3d1cf3ecfb%3Ag%3AuqYAAOSwmtJXWz3P%3Asc%3AUSPSFirstClass%2185120%21US%21-1&_sacat=0&_nkw=DeepCool+Fan+Hub&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1312.R1.TR10.TRC1.A0.H0.Xdeep.TRS1
      If you opt for the Commander Pro, it has 6 PWM fan ports built into it, so depending on how many fans you are going to install, it should take care of everything for you.

      @@Viking8888 I have the 3 pack and it comes with the lighting node Pro which will be here on Tuesday. Apparently after watching tons of videos, I finally found what I was looking for. It looks likes the node pro hooks up to a standard Sata cable and the mini usb that connects to the Node Pro needs a 9 pin usb connection. I've also seen 5v Add Headers, 12V RBG headers, some are 4 pin others are 3 pin. Generally when people watch product demonstration videos, they're looking for compatibility issues. Given that the RGB market hasn't completely standardized everything, people are running into all kinds of problems, which is forcing people to find work-arounds.

If you buy the fans separately, then of course nothing else comes with them. As far as buying 6 fans with one node pro....I looked, but there doesn't seem to be an option for that. I guess the only options are to buy two 3 packs or one 3 pack and 3 fans separately. The good news though, is that the price for the 3 pack has been coming down. I have been seeing it for under $90.

      DO NOT connect any corsair RGB products to your motherboard or bad things could happen. There were only a few motherboards out there that had a special corsair RGB connector onboard. I think they were from Asus, but they were clearly labeled. Corsair doesn't follow the standards for 4-pin or 3-pin RGB. They have their own thing going unless specifically mentioned otherwise.

    So I just bought the 3 pack of LL120 RGBs. I had everything set up, and when I turned my PC on only one of the fans spun.
    I previously had a 120 in the back for exhaust and a 140 on the front for intake. I moved the 140 to the top and made it an exhaust fan, while placing my new LL120s on the front for intake.
    The top intake fan spins and the bottom two don't, and I'm 99% sure it's because the power cables for those two aren't plugged into the fan headers on my MOBO. The reason for that is because I don't have any more fan headers free to plug into. I have no idea how to get the bottom two fans to work properly.

      Danish eh? That's awesome! My family background is Swedish. I've been learning the language for awhile, but unfortunately, there was never anyone to talk to in Canada or where I live now in the US.
      Anyway, the connections for 6 fans will be easy seeing as you are buying two of the 3 packs with the node pro's. So based on my video, you will hook up all 6 fans to the included RGB hub and connect the hub to the Lightning Node Pro. Each of those units requires SATA power from your power supply. The only issue you will probably have is finding 6 4-pin PWM power connectors on your motherboard. So if your case doesn't have a built in fan hub for power, then you will need to buy one. If you need help finding one, let me know, I'm here to help! Hav en god dag kammerat!

    Are you having any trouble with these fans or with the software? I'm planning on bying 2 of these kits but i've seen quite a few bad reviews, regarding numerous issues, both hardware and software wise. Thanks great vid!

      Actually I haven't had any issues with the fans at all and the only issue I had software wise was unrelated to the fans. It wouldn't detect my RGB ram. Aside from having to re solder some connections on the RGB hub, I've really enjoyed these fans. I'm saving up to get the 4 pack of light strips so I can complete my Tokyo at night look! ;)

      MrBoriqua2000 Nope! That's the cool thing about buying the 3 pack. The node pro gets you up and running right away. If you have a more complicated RGB setup, then the commander pro may be the best way to go.

      MrBoriqua2000 The 3 pack will allow for 6 fans on 1 channel and either 6 on channel 2 or 4 light strips Daisy chained. Of course if you want to install another 6 on channel 2, you'll need a other hub which Corsair sells separately for something like $10 US and you can get a 2 pack of LL140's that will save some $$ over buying them separately.

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya, the lighting node pro or commander pro are needed for any lighting effects. From what I've gathered, these fans are not compatible with any motherboard manufacturer's RGB tech what so ever. Take care!

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chanlegend The node pro connects to your computer through a USB header on your motherboard. The RGB hub connects to the node pro and the fans (up to 6 of them) connect to the RGB hub. Then to make them shine, you install the Corsair iCUE software!

    • @chanlegend
      @chanlegend 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      but I can connect two fans onto the node pro and then they will light up right? as I dont really need to connect strips or anything, is that ok?

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      chanlegend Absolutely! You can connect from 1 to 6 fans on one hub that connects to say channel 1 of the node pro and if you wanted to, you could forget about light strips all together and get another hub and connect 6 more fans to it and then connect that hub to the second channel on the node pro. It's very flexible.

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marvin Benallie Ya, as far as I know the HD fans work with the Node pro or Commander Pro. You will still need to get the 6 port RGB hub regardless of the choice you make in controller though, so keep that in mind. Check to make sure the node pro purchased by itself comes with the hub or not. I know the commander pro does not.

    • @marvinb.7360
      @marvinb.7360 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clayton Olson so for the fans and RGB to work I need Commander Pro, RGB hub, and Node pro

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either the Node Pro or the Commander Pro. The Commander Pro has 6 PWM fan ports built in, (Those are so the fans will spin) so you won't need to use the fan power ports on your motherboard. However, it doesn't come with the built-in ability to make the RGB LED's light up. That's where the hub comes into play. That hub then connects to one of the two RGB channels on the Commander Pro and with the iCUE software, you can make those fans light up like Tokyo at night!
      With the Node Pro, you would need the hub as well. It, like the commander pro, connects to your PC through a mini usb to USB 2.0 motherboard header. (which is included) But, to power the fans and make them spin, you would need to have 4 power connectors on your mobo, or like what I did, get a PWM fan hub that plugs into, say, your CPU fan port and then plug the other fans into the hub so all fans react to CPU temps. The hub I am using came with my Deepcool Captain 240ex RGB all in one liquid cooler, but can be found on ebay. Just search for "Deepcool PWM fan hub." Anymore question, fire away!

    • @marvinb.7360
      @marvinb.7360 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clayton Olson so I was told that in order for the RGB fan hub to work I need a lighting node pro is this at all true?

    • @Viking8888
      @Viking8888  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marvin Benallie The lighting node pro OR the commander pro. You need to decide which of those two units will be best for your current setup and for future RGB growth. The commander pro for all intents and purposes has a node pro built into it. It just has a lot more built in as well. The commander is more expensive, so that's why you need to count the cost and see if it would be overkill in the long run. I only need the node pro because I don't have anymore room for fans and I will eventually use that second port for RGB LED strips. Oh ya, one more thing. With the Commander pro, you can connect node pros to it to get more RGB goodness!

      Thanks for the thanks, I really appreciate it! As for the Corsair hub, it's just for the RGB leads of the Corsair fans, not for power. To power them, you need to either plug them into a fan header on your motherboard or a separate pwm fan hub, but I just finished watching Hardwarecanucks video on that cooler and it just so happens to have it's own 4 fan hub of sorts already, so you will be good to go for power. If you have any other questions, ask away! I'll do my best to answer them. Take care.
