No joke I ended up subbing because I invariably find myself coming back to this channel when looking for more in-depth information about Corsair's products. You're doing their work for them. Like still to this day I have no idea what the "ID Header" does on the Core XT, and searching on Corsair's own website yields NO information on it. Crazy.
This guy has quickly become one of my favorite, information is great, very digestible. Doesn't use a lot of filler words, is concise. The professionalism is just oozing out if this video and its so helpful. This is basically a full course. Definitely subscribing. Just amazed. Incredbile work
Just got myself a 7000X case, and swapped out all the provided fans for LL120s (8 total), with four LL140s (3 on the AIO, 1 rear) for uniform lighting. This video is so incredibly informative to get that wiring nightmare sorted out with with two controllers, thank you. I'm going to take my time with assembly to try my best to get everything right the first time.
Hi Dustin McKenzie, that sounds like an awesome build for sure! Ll120 and LL140 are still my favorite fans, although there are many cool fans out there. I'm happy you found this video helpful, that makes it worth putting together. Take your time with it, make it look awesome and most important, have fun with it!!! Let me know how it works out for you!!! Thanks for the support!!!
Thank you MonkiJuan! I am so happy you have found them useful! Have tons of fun setting up your RGB fans! Thanks for your feedback and for watching some videos!
Great video! I seriously cannot tell you how much this video helped me trying to get my 7 fan setup. Bought the AIO so I had the core for 6 fans and just couldn’t get everything working smoothly. This video helped immensely.
I totally get that!! I've been there...I'm wishing you much success and don't forget to have fun, let me know how it works out!! Thanks for watching!!!
Awesome video, you really broke it down into layman's terms so I was able to fully understand how to properly hook up all my fans. I really love Corsair's products, but absolutely hate the propriety connections. Keep up the killer videos my man they are much appreciated 💯👌👍🤟👏
Hi dukecityhustle, i'm happy you found this video helpful! That makes it all worth it! I agree, Corsair stuff is cool, but you have to work within their exclusive environment, haha! Good Luck and keep having fun!! Thanks for watching!!!
@@HardwareArtisan The build came out so cool, thanks again for telling us about the Airgoo Corsair adapters. I was able to run (10) CoolerMaster Halo 120mm fans off my Corsair H150i LCD Elite AIO controller with no issues whatsoever. 👍
Thank you so much for making this video. I was getting nowhere with Corsair when asking what to use for hooking up seven fans, since there was hardly any help online with relevant, concise instructions.
Thanks for the very informative video! I recently upgraded from an i5 2500k w/ air cooling to an i7 12700k w/ the Corsair H100i Elite Capellix and bought a 3 pack of the LL120s. I was debating on adding 2 more LL140s and was trying to figure out where I would hook up the 7th fan to, this video set my mind at ease.
Hi Joakim Augustsson, I am super happy you found it helpful! 21 QL fans!?.....Amazing stuff! That's a cool case, I haven't worked with it, but it would definitely would be fun to do a build in that. This video seems like small potatoes when were talking 21 fans. But, it's just expanding on these same ideas. I wish you great success with the 1000D and let me know how it goes if and when you think about it. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Xyerious, i'm happy you found these videos helpful! Sounds like an awesome build in the works. I wish you well and above all, have lots of fun with it!!
As some one who just did a build with 10 Corsair QL which included two XTs and the Commander Core and way too many fan cables (10x2=20), I'm far happier with 10 Lian Li AL120s. I still have the Commander Core from the H150i but I now only have ONE fan controller and eight fan cables, three cables going to the mobo AND I was able to put my HDD cage back in because I had an 8TB HDD to install. I had to remove it to fit the controllers. It took so many hours of cable management and figuring out how to best connect the controllers. I also saved $220 after returning all the corsair stuff; $520 for the corsair, $300 for the Lian Li. And the Lian Lis look so much nicer. Sure I don't have as much glow from the side light rings on the QLs but when looking at the finished job, I could not ignore all the dead spots of the Corsair fans (LLs do it too but not as much). The Lian Lis have a steady glow and I'm not distracted by the LEDs under the fan. They also get pretty bright. Lian Lis also work with Signal RGB. And the specs of the AL120s are so much better. And "visor", what Lian Li calls "scan" works across all sets. No I'm not a Lian Li salesman, maybe a fan boy now, but do check them out for you next build. There is more that they can do. They really solve all the gripes I have with the Corsairs.
Hi GiSWiG, Thanks for the excellent insight on your experiences with Lian Li AL120's and the Corsair Fans. All are very valid points. I have a set of al120 fans here, but i've never done a build with them, perhaps i'll do a comparison video. I have used some Lian Li components in the past, mainly the Strimer series power cables.....Simply Amazing!!! I've no doubt the AL120 fans will hold up to the same standard as those cables. I've always liked Corsair, but I have no affiliation with them and will totally check out some AL120 Fans and their ecosystem. Thanks for taking the time to bring us some new insights!! And thanks for watching!
@@HardwareArtisan I should mention some cons but really only after having used the Corsair fans. You don't have the ability to layer effects like in iCUE. You can't create a solid color base layer and then add a spiral layer on top of that and in the case of QL and LL fans, you don't have the control of the outer ring. But I really don't have time to deal with all that. Regardless of Corsair or Lian Li, SignalRGB can do some great lighting effects easily. With the ALs, I can pass control of the lighting to the motherboard with the flip of a switch, literally. I haven't played around with it yet but I think I can use the ASUS Aurora Creator and control the fans that way. I don't think the software will tie in my EVGA GPU like SignalRGB. I also now have 2 8TB HDDs installed, something that I just didn't have the room for with all the Corsair control boxes. And something else that just I just experienced, I removed the tray with three ALs on it by disconnecting ONE cable, slid the tray with three fans attached completely out of the case with no cables attached. Now will Corsair do the same thing with future fans? Probably, unless the concept is patented by Lian Li, which I don't think they can? IDK. If you ever do a review, be sure to bring those points up.
@@GiSWiG I’m having trouble to decide bt lían li uní or Corsair ll, where did you buy the corsairs from and can you return them just because you didn’t like it?
@@Blash1 I got the Corsairs at Best buy because they were on sale but returning to BB is much easier, even on-line orders. I don't know if they have the Lian Li's but you can get those on Amazon. Now of course, you can get the Lian Li Infinity fans so now you have side illumination. Really, if you pay attention to YT reviews of the fans that have high quality cameras (no offense Hardware Artisan) you can see how well the light diffuses in both fans. I think you'll like the Lian Li's. They can be controlled by their included fan hub or can be passed through from the motherboard. The Corsairs are not bad, just didn't work well for me, especially with the now 13 AL 120 fans in my case (excessive?). Its a total of 10 cables for those. 13 Corsair fans would be 26 cables.
Like you man !! great video well explained !! I gave you sub! anyway from your experience what fans would you recommend these days? I am thinking about 12fans++
I'm a bit confused still. Are you daisy chaining the Commander Core into the Commander Core XT in order to have full control over all the fans, pump, and LCD?
Hi Strifethor, Yes, you can certainly daisy chain the CORE into the CORE XT's USB pigtail, but is not required to do that. The only reason to do that is that it's an available USB header. iCUE doesn't depend on these being daisy chained like this. As long as the two controllers make a USB connection to the system, it will work fine and you will be able to control all your fans, pumps and LCD. You could use two motherboard USB headers, or a powered USB hub and get the same results. The CORE XT's USB pigtail is just convenient. I hope that makes sense, great question. Thanks for watching!!!
I’m in the latter end of finishing my very first PC and am going for high specs. This video made me reimagine my hole fan set up and last minute changed my purchases for the better! I decided to get 7 QL120’s, Corsair iCUE H150i Elite cooler because it comes with a Commander Core, and a Commander Core XT! I believe the XT along with the standard commander core should be enough for a 3 rgb fan water cooler along with 7 rgb fans right? Thank you so much for this very informative video! Keep up the great work everyone appreciates it!
Thanks for the feedback Collin Pleasant!!! Yes, a Commander CORE and CORE XT together is a great way to get control of your 10 fans, both RGB and power/speed control. It will also give you some fan expandability along with 2 temp probes and the RGB port on the XT if you decide to sync some other RGB with it. Check out the video on syncing non-corsair RGB using that port and a cheap adapter cable if that suits your build at all. I wish you great success on your first PC! Sounds like a nice machine!!! Above all else have lots of fun!!! Thanks for watching and taking the time to post a great question!
@@HardwareArtisan Thanks! I actually just started assembling everything and found out about the push/pull method with AIO using 3 fans on top and bottom of cooler so that brings my total to 13 fans. I currently have a commander core XT and commander core. To run the 13th fan with the whole set up can I connect a third device to the other 2 so it’s all synchronized? Definitely not worried about budget since I’ve already gotten this far hahah
That's an awesome looking case. I haven't built anything with that one, but would love to take a look at it. That sounds like an amazing build! Good luck and have alot of fun with it. Let me know how it goes!! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video! I thought I was going to have to use the Core that comes with the Capellix AIO and the 2 nodes that come with the 3 QL120 fan kits. Then I was like, man, that's 3 USB connections. Seeing this, I bought the Commander XT due to cheaper cost to go with my Commander Core for the AIO. Thanks for saving me a huge headache!
Thanks so much for this great presentation! I am presently building a system in a Corsair 1000D, which includes a Commander Pro with the case, and definitely appreciate your insight and directions of connecting and controlling the fans ( 13 for me ), in the build. I expect to employ 2 XTs, the Pro (in the 1000D) and the Commander CORE bundled with the H170i LCD/LCD connected to the H170i. Loads of connections! Thanks for helping to demystify the optimum connections!!

Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying to figure out the best way to power 9x ML120 Elite RGB fans, along with an H150i Elite Capellix in my PC, and this video answered all of my questions. More informative than anything I have read online, and much easier to comprehend. I appreciate the work you put into this, thank you again!
Mind sharing how you connected your h150i to the commander pro xt? There's a 24 pin connector on the h150i that only seems to connect to the included commander core, so I had to go with only one xt and return the other. I would have much rather used both xt's though!
@@AegonVI It's not possible to power the H150i from a Commander Core XT. I used the Commander Core that came with the H150i and a Commander Core XT. Those two Commanders are basically the same aside from the connector for the H150i pump. Altogether, I connected 10 ML120 RGB Elite fans, as well as the 2 fans that were included with the 5000D Airflow case, and everything works great.
I was looking for a video like this. I'm currently working on building my very first PC with high end parts for 4k 60Fps HDR Content Creation and work and bought an Nzxt H7 Flow case in white and a Corsair iCUE H150i Elite with the Round LCD display and wanted to swap the RGB fans it came with for better corsair branded fans and want to add more than 6 but wasn't sure where to start so thank you. This was very helpful 🙏🙇♂️
I just did two builds.. the first in a Corsair 5000 series case with ten fans and the second in a Corsair 7000 series with eleven fans. The best I can say is the best I could do on cable management was I managed to get the back door closed. Sooooooo many cables.
Yes i agree... i have a corsair case..glas panels ! i needed 2 rgb commanders because the front 3 fans are standerd with the case and cannot be controlled by the commanderpro.. so the top 2 and back fan needed to be connected to commander pro al those cables were hard to work around with cable management
Corsair is lacking in comprehensive documentation for their Icue products. So your videos fill the gap. Thanks for these. I'm just finishing up my 7000x build with 10 fans. The supplied 4 140mm three 140mm that came with my 420mm radiator and 3 120mm on the side mount. One issue is the Icue software doesn't show the commander pro that comes with the radiator. You control those fans via the cpu block. Not intuitive at all. Another issue I'm dealing with is with the side mounted ML120 Elite fans connected to the core xt in 4,5, and 6. They spin at full rpm with no RGB as if they were 3 pins. Still dealing with troubleshooting that but had to leave town for work. May just need to do a factory reset but we'll see. Long comment just to say thanks again for your videos.
Hi MichaelDM, the commander CORE will not show as a commander CORE if the PUMP is installed on the 24pin port, as soon as you plug in the pump, the badge in icue changes to show whatever AIO you have, it's never explained clearly this is what it does. However, using that AIO device in icue, it acts exactly the same way as the Commander CORE would act, that's what it is. You're right though, not intuitive at all....As for the ML120 fans, I have had to remove power (shut down, physically disconnect the controller) in a few rare cases when it behaves like that. Try that, if not, force a firmeware update on the controller, and beyond that, uninstall and reinstall icue. Good Luck, thanks for your feedback and for watching!!!!
Another great video! Using the Visor effect I'm getting about a 10 second delay in the LED sequence between my Commander XT and Commander Core. I have 10 QL fans, four running off the Commander Core from the AIO and the other six off the Commander XT. Going from the XT to the Core or vice versa there is a pause of about 10 seconds in the LED sequence from one fan to the next going either direction. Don't know if it matters but I also have 128GB (4x32GB DIMMs) of Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM. At first I though the sequence was jumping to that but it doesn't appear to be.
Hi BP, thanks for the feedback, i'm happy you are finding the videos helpful. I've had this happen to me exactly as you've described, where it appears there is a delay in the sequence. In I think every case, it's always been that it's firing to another chain of RGB that I didn't have installed.....too much messin around, haha! I would start with checking your CORE and CORE XT for any other RGB chains. Check if you have 3 pin lighting effects enabled/configured...and disable that (assuming you don't have any 3 pin lighting effects)....that will cause this as it will send signals for those devices. If that's not it, i'd just double check the CORE And CORE XT have properly detected the right amount of fans and the right type. Update iCUE to the latest, restart your PC and if nothing else is working. Personally, i'd clear the config on the controller and reset it up. I think i'd remove the RGB connections, just pull them out of the connection, then rerun the wizard with nothing in there. Then re-add them and rerun the wizard and double check. Here is the firing order for Visor to the best of my knowledge..... KB -> Mouse -> RGB mouse pad -> Lighting Node Pro -> Lighting Node Core -> Commander Pro -> Commander Core -> RAM -> External Ambient Lighting (LS100, LT100, ST100). I think the CORE XT is right after the CORE, or before, I cannot recall, I need to go revisit that, might be a good short-ish video to do. The RAM should be last in that sequence if you have the lighting configured.... If that doesn't do it, reinstall icue perhaps. I'll try and go retest the order of that effect, let me know what you find! Good luck, keep having fun!!!
Man, I needed this video like 2 weeks ago, built out a 5000D Airflow, 12 LL series fans, plus an XD5 and an XC7. Corsair's "documentation" is garbage, when it exists at all. Still watching the video, but I ended up with one XT, one commander core, and one lighting node. The node has the XC7 and XD5, the rest is going through the XT and the core. Then I ditched iCUE for SignalRGB, cause iCue is so limited.
Very detailed, thank you. During setup you noted that the fan lights are quite bright, might not show up on video too well. Are there there brightness or intensity controls available after setup. I like a less intense light show. Thanks again. Nice job.
Just finished building a desk computer but its been a nightmare trying to get everything wired up for a couple reasons. 1) Everything is so spaced out that the cables the fans come with aren't long enough and 2) ICUE does not like the ways I'm trying to wire up all the RGB. It doesn't even recognize my Commander Core. I have the lighting node pro and in the second port it says I can only use 8 LED type fans and then lists several examples. Thanks for the informative video. Hopefully I can get this sorted.
Fantastic video. The only thing I can ask of you is to index these videos with chapters. I think it will make it easier for my folks to click on your video, find the section they need (you’ll get a quality view out of it, the viewer won’t get tired of scrubbing trying to find the section that relates to what they have before moving onto someone else’s video. Great job again with the in-depth explanation! All the best! RichD-PC
Thanks for exists and do this videos I have the commander core which it comes with my liquid cooler and the rgb who comes with the 3 pack fans,I have 8 fans and I just want to find a way to put everything together and with this video now I know what I have to do,thanks you so much guys❤❤
Hi joseespinoza4772, I am very happy this video helped out, thanks for the feedback that makes it worth the effort. Hope your having a good time with the new PC, sounds awesome!! Thanks for watching!!!
You did a little here but would love for you to compare all the different corsair rgb fans you have. # of LEDs , brightness, loops, and other featcures.
That's a great idea Dar Bunny. I'm working on a similar video right now, but it's not of all the CORSAIR fans, but that would be a great video, i'll add it to my list of projects.....Thanks for the great idea and taking the time to post it. Thanks for watching!
So you CAN connect the commander core AND the commander core XT together. Thank you for showing that part. I was wondering if I had to but two commander core XTs instead of using the core that I got with my 170i Cooler.
Yes, the corext and the core are great together, you got it!! Sounds like an awesome build, have fun with it!! Let me know how it comes together, thanks for watching!!
OK this is perfect thank you, pre core XT and just when there was a commander pro with the rgb hubs this was kind of a pain to get everything sorted, then you have no rbg expansion, cant do PVM per fan, weird with multiple fan type etc. solves so much of this!
Thanks for the video. Helps shed some RGB light (haha) into the various convoluted mess of Commanders and Lightings and whatnots. Still trying to process everything you've said, but at least I have a better idea what I can do if I have a Commander Node from an AIO I'm planning to get from them.
This video was really helpful. I’m going to be helping a friend install the commander core later today. This will be their second. The first one burned up during a power supply upgrade, any idea what may have caused that? They upgraded from 750w to 1200w and a chip on the commander core burned out and stopped the fans
Super Good Video! Thank you very much for making this video its very helpful. I have a Corsair Obsidian 1000d super tower case with 20+ fans. I have had a difficult time setting up all the fans and run the rub properly.
Hi superman0tohero!! Thanks for the kind feedback, i'm very happy you found it useful. Corsair Obsidian 1000d, now that's a case!!! With 20 Fans, that's Awesome! I should do a video on 20+ fans...that would be a challenge. How did you end up configuring RGB on that beast? Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you! Incredible information! Im looking at getting 13 fans, 2 AIOs. Case comes with Commander Pro. Each AIO comes with Commander Core. Can I plug the Pro into MB USB header and then the 2 XTs into the 2 USB headers on the Pro?
Thank you for this video. It has some great information. I do have a question. I am building a new pc and I am going to buy 10x LL120 rgb fans. What is the most efficient way to connect them up, so I that I can use Icue with them? I am assuming I would need 2x one of the modules you were using.
Great video on these devices. I use the famous x7000 with commander xt, and the aio 170 140m fan with lcd, and has command core, but shows AIO in ICUE, but not the actual commander for some reason, but shows all fans, and xt, but no core. Is this because its setup as the AIO?
The biggest problem is the lack of more than two usb 2.0 ports on MB sometimes there is only one usb 2.0. My experience with the Corsair Commander Pro after 2 consecutive failures and yes Corsair RMA and replaced both units for usb port failures on the commander Pro. I have been running 12 Corsair RGB fans for 5 plus years. Fans are starting to fail as I never turn the system off.
I solved this issue with an NZXT internal usb hub. $26.71 at NewEgg (sold and shipped by TechJunkie). Corsair also makes one, but it's out of stock at Corsair and absent from NewEgg inventory.
Hi Diadem37's Garage, great question. I think you are asking if you can use a PWM splitter on the CORE XT's fan header for power....Yes, I have done this to add a couple of more fans to it. I wouldn't recommend going overboard with that though. Corsair for some reason doesn't list a specification for the total power output for the fan headers on the CORE XT, I've looked. The Commander PRO does have that specification and it's as follows....1A per port (4.5A combined). If we take for example that an LL120 fan has a 0.30A power draw, we can safely get 2 fans per port, you could probably get 3, but I wouldnt add more than 2 per port. I'd personally only add a couple more fans in total across the entire controller which I've done with no issues, I used PWM splitter cables. I have to assume the CORE XT's specs are similar to the Commander PRO, but I can't be certain. I've not fully tested with adding more than a couple fans to it for any length of time, so take any advice here at your own risk, but i'd add 2 additional fans total without any worries. Thats for the whole controller, so adding 8. Thanks for the question, let me know if that didn't quite answer your question!!! Thanks for Watching!
What would you do to add a 13th fan? I'm doing a build in a corsair 5000x case. I'm gonna have 6 intake fans 3 front/3 side. I'm using a 360mm AIO as a Push/Pull in top of case then I was gonna use a single 120mm fan in back of case for exhaust for the 13th fan
So i have the corsair lcd aio and it came with the basic commander (that doesn't have the extra rgb header and only one temp probe) i got 4 more corsair fans for Christmas. 3 of them came in a set with the lighting node core (the one with like 3 different modules and only has connection for rgb and fan has to go into the motherboard) the last fan was independent of anything) i plan to get an additional 3 fans and want to know what's the least i need to buy (module wise) to get them all connected and controlled properly in icue. I'm doing a bunch of research but figured maybe some local experts could help me with some feed back. Thank you.
Thanks for the video, very informative and easy to understand. Do you know if I can use the RGB hub to control the RGB for non-fan RGB devices; say like the RGB for a pump or reservoir or even just an led strip? My idea being to use the Commander XT to control my fans, both speed and RGB, and then connecting the RGB hub to the XT and use that hub to control other non-fan lighting (with those non-fan devices being powered elsewhere). Or does it only control corsair fan RGB?
Hi Tambo Biscuits, great questions. The RGB hub is meant to specifically be a FAN Hub. it's a 4 pin connection and I've not tested making any conversions from that to non-fan RGB devices. The core XT has an RGB ports, which is corsairs 3 pin connector, to which you can directly attach Corsairs RGB strips and a few other devices. I did a video on using a conversion cable on this port which would allow you to connect it to a more standard RGB hub to control other devices. It's not a perfect solution however. You could also gain more of these 3 pin ports with the Lighting node Pro, which has two of them. Check out this vdeo here for some ideas: th-cam.com/video/JgLUDe1yzYw/w-d-xo.html - How to get all your RGB working with CORSAIR iCUE - Tutorial
Argus monitor fan control has a neat option called 10 second average.. where i believe it takes all cores over a 10 second period and uses that temp... this stops those stupid fast ramp up from quick spikes in temp... does corsair have anything like that?
do as he says in the beginning of the video and use more controllers if you are planning on having more than 6 fans, I used splitters on the controller (1 to 2) and every fan header stopped working soon after, or use the motherboard headers, I do that for AIO fans, because I don't want those failing on me because of a controller header that decided to stop working
Very good video, thank you! If I want to connect 2 Commander core xt with each other, do I also have to use the sata cable for the second Commander core so that it gets power? Or is 1 SATA cable enough for the first one and both get power? Thanks
Just finished my set up, 12 ML120 / ML140 fans. The commander core XT is showing all 6 fans connected, but the commander core pro doesn’t show up BUT the 6 commander core pro fan options are instead listed under the options for the H170I water cooler. Every fan on the commander core pro can only reach 1.1K rpm, 4 on the XT get to 1.5k and 2 on the XT get to 2k. Idk lol.
Hey man great video but I am still a little lost. I'm new to building so just need a little clarification. I am trying to build an (almost) all Corsair build. I am using a Corsair Crystal 680x case and I am replacing the fans that come with it to the QL fans. So my build is Asus Prime x570 - Pro, GeForce RTX 3080, Ryzen 5800x, H100i Elite Capellix AIO, Corsair RM 1000x power supply, 3 Corsair 140mm QL's, 5 120mm QL's, 4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB RT (32gb) and a Lian Li Strimer Plus Triple 8 pin. My H100i Aio comes with a commander core, my 120 triple pack comes with a Lighting node core and my dual 140 pack comes with another lighting node core. I bought a Commander pro thinking I could tie all these together with what everything came with and be able to control fan speed and RGB. Can it be done or am I missing something? I planned on trying to put this all together tomorrow and well now ya got me doubting I'll be looking at a big heap of RGB throwup. lol HELP I NEED AN ADULT!!
Hi Steven Arnold, Great Question! There are many combinations of how to do this, which makes it confusing for sure. I've had alot of fun making these videos, it's difficult to go over all the scenarios, but let me point you in the right direction. You said you needed an Adult, but I'll give it a shot anyways.....lol..... You have everything you need to get this setup, that's the good news!! Here is how I would do this....That case comes with a lighting node pro(Controller and HUB), I'd start with removing the controller, But you will be using the RGB FAN HUB that came with it so leave that part in place. You WON't need either of the lighting node CORE's, you can set all those aside. I would connect your commander PRO into a USB header and power. Then, connect the Commander Core that came with your AIO into one of the two USB headers on the PRO (Or motherboard, it doesn't matter). Connect the SATA Power for the CORE and the HUB as well. I believe for the VISOR effect, the Commander PRO goes first, then the Commander Core, so.....Consder going in this order. Plug the RGB FAN HUB into channel 1 on the Commander PRO In the RGB hub, connect the first 6 FANS, I usually start with the front facing bottom fan as #1, plug them in order 1-6 to the HUB. Then plug in the PWM Power connections to the PRO's PWM ports 1-6 in the same order. For the remaing 2 fans, plug them into the Command CORE, both RGB and PWM, into ports 1 and 2 (You can change the order within each device seperatately if needed later, but you will want the first 6 in the PRO and the last 2 in the CORE) Then connect the AIO to the CORE's 24 pin port. That should get you close, if not right on, but before you zip tie it all up, if possible, test it in iCue with VISOR to see if it all fires in the order you want, the other effects don't really matter, but if needed make a change at this point. OPTIONAL, you could consider this.....you have only 8 FANS.......You could get rid of the PRO.....Plug the first 6 fans into Commander CORE along with the AIO, then connect the RGB HUB to Channel 1 on the Lighting node PRO (just like it is in the case initially) and plug the remaining 2 fans in ports 1 and 2 on the HUB. This leaves you looking for PWM connections for the remaining 2 fans, you can use motherboard 4 pin headers, or buy a PWM HUB (cheap), or splitter cables to split 1 of the ports on the CORE into 3 PWM connections, that would work. (This option would be cheaper and less clutter in the case) You lose the ability to add more temp probes, but that may not matter to you. Alternatively, ditching the PRO and replacing it with a CORE XT (similar to the CORE) allows you to get rid of the RGB hub altogther and give you a couple temp probes. I hope that gives you some further ideas, let me know if I can help.....Above All, Have fun with it, it will make more sense after you start messing around with it. Good luck with the build, let me know how it turns out! Thanks for Watching!
The only downside of Corsair fans is that you have to buy the fan hub seperately (not the RGB hub) if you ran out of fan slot on your motherboard. And the damn thing costs almost the same price as the case itself. Corsair should learn a thing or two from Nzxt.
You seem like a nice guy - Your first 1:40 seconds were very rushed and unclear. So I need 2x USB headers going into my mobo, each of these will have a pigtail, so what you're saying is the second pigtail of both of these are absolutely useless? Do they have any use? What are they for? What's an example of them in use positively?
its normal for PCs to have anywhere from 9 to 10 fans, 3 front/side, 3 top, 3 bottom and maybe 1 back its a pretty basic setup, corsair its driving me fucking nuts because i have to play wire wizard trying to connect all the damn fans
I bought the Corsair watercooler that comes with one of these Commander XTs, but the total number of RGB coolers I want to connect is 10. Can I buy another Commander XT and everything be ok? Will I be able to control the speed of all 10 and the RGB of all 10 with the 2 Commander XTs connected?
I am still struggling with tapping the screws into the fans as I mount them into the case. They keep stripping due to the sky high torque of tapping threads into the plastic fan housing
Hi ph11p3540, it can take a bit of effort to get the screws started on some fans, but usually not so much that it strips them out. I would check that you are using the screws that came with the fans. And they don't need to be very tight just enough to let the rubber dampening pad to make contact, you don't want to compress that pad against the case, so don't tighten them you would machine screws. Just 'kiss' the case with that rubber pad, haha. Let me know if I can help, good luck and have fun!!! Thanks for watching!!
Can you comment on putting case fans and AIO fans on the same controller? Is that a no-no? Should I keep my AIO fans on a separate controller better control of CPU temps ?
Hi Vangelis A, great questions. You can create custom fan curves and apply that curve to any fans on the controller, you can mix and match fan curves. Because of that, there is no reason for a seperate controller for AIO fans, these controllers will meet your needs. Thanks for watching!!!
So I can add a splitter to the non RGB side, for fans 7,8,9. Can also add an additional splitter for three non-RGB fans that are not corsairs? This would fans10, 11, 12 . They are black NZXT fans for a push pull setup. in other words, is it too much to draw on the amps at 6 via 2 three ways splitters. Another commander core XE would be easier I believe how would I hook that up in a daisy chain, or would I hook them up independently Thanks
Sir, are you familiar with AORUS motherboards? Mine comes with this "RGB Fan Commander", but I can I only use it as a USB 2.0 hub/splitter because (1) I only have one 2.0 header and (2) I'd rather use what I have instead of buying more stuff. I'm gonna start building soon when my components arrive.
If I would compare to your scenario #1: My RGB Fan Commander would do the same job your Commander PRO is doing. Is the AORUS controller capable of splitting USB 2.0 if I give it SATA power?
I have my AIO fans running to my Core XT and just the pump running to the Core that came with it, does it matter if the AIO pump and AIO fans aren’t connected to the same Core? And which one should I run the temp sensors to?
I'll be wiring up 14 fans, 6 on the AIO rad for push/pull, 140mm, 4 case fans 140mm and 4 120mm case fans, suggestions? How many commander pro xt s are needed?
Awesome content! Been watching your videos and have a Q. I have the 500 tower case, 4 corsair LL fans (where im putting 2 in the front bottom for intake and 2 on my 240 AIO) and then 3 corsair white LED fans that im putting on the radiator mount just like you did on your 500 build. I have the core XT and the hub that came with the LL kit. Can i run the white LED corsair fans with that hub? What would you suggest for best setup?
Hi Daniel Christmas, thanks for watching!!! The 3 white LED fans will just be DC controlled fans if my recollection is correct, these 3 fans only have a 3 pin connector. The Hub that comes with the LL kit for the lighting node pro is only for RGB fans (4 pin RGB) and does not power the fan itself, PWM OR DC. You can plug them into the 4 pin PWM connectors on the Core XT which will power the fan and the LED. With the CORE XT, you will get no speed control on the DC fans, they will run at full speed. I think what I would do is skip the HUB, it won't benefit you in this case. Buy a set of PWM splitter cables. You can plug this cable into one of 4 pin PWM ports on the CORE XT and then plug in your 3 white LED fans to the 3 connections. This should work great, these 3 fans will be full speed, but in most cases that's ok. This leaves you the 5 other PWM ports for you 4 RGB fans. You can buy the cables here from amazon (8.49 as I write this) (i've used these cables, they work good) Cable Matters 2-Pack 3 Way 4 Pin PWM Fan Splitter Cable - 12 Inches www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-2-Pack-Way-Splitter/dp/B07PXLHNZ6/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2JI41ONW30ZRC&keywords=pwm+splitter&qid=1669871800&s=industrial&sprefix=pwm+splitter+%2Cindustrial%2C96&sr=1-3 I hope that helps, great question!!! I’m curious cus of my 7000D Airflow build, want to run 12 AF120 iCUE fans. Can I use one Commander Pro, connect it to the mobo USB header then with 2 Commander Core XT’s. Plug each one into the 2 USB Headers on the Commander Pro (not daisy chain). As my other USB Header on the mobo has my cooler connected to
Hi, I have a Commander Core that came with AiO cooling. In your opinion, will it be safe to connect 8 fans to it, without disturbing the operation of the controller, brightness and fan speed? I'm going to do it like this: 1, 2 and 3 ports for AiO fans. Two fans for port 4 and two fans for port 5 by means of splitters. To the sixth port, the rear fan.
I have the situation of having 7 fans, H150i Elite Capellix AIO with the commander core, the commander core XT, compatible iCue mouse and keyboard, compatible motherboard and Graphics card. Unfortunately I encounter a problem with trying visor setting. I like that setting and I want to use it but it seems out of sync. 3 fans are synced but then it goes to my keyboard and mouse and then to graphics card and AIO and finally to the last fan. Doesn’t look good at all. 🤦🏻♂️
Question: Does the Lighting Node PRO support two devices/fans but requires the RGB Fan LED Hub to extend to 6 devices/fans? Also, is the Lighting Node CORE a combination of both the Lighting Node PRO and the RGB Fan LED Hub? These ones confused me ::Edited to add clarity::
Thanks for this. Just finished my build today. 10 fans with the H150I elite LCD. The AIO and 1 fan are connected to the CoCore that came with the AIO. The other 6 (same exact fans) are connected to the core xt. The CoCore with the AIO (and my dom ram) are showing up in ICUE. The cocore xt is not showing up in ICUE. No idea how to fix it. The AIO cocore is connected directly to a USB 2.0 header. The cocore xt is also connected directly to a USB 2.0 header.
Hi thefarside79, that sounds like an Awesome build. I'm a few days behind getting back to you. If the commander CORE XT is not showing up, the first thing is to make sure you have the latest iCUE installed, version 4, it won't be recognized on version 3. If you have version 4, just update to the latest version, from there, i'd try the following: 1. Try a different SATA power connector, I'm assuming your fans are spinning, even if they are, try another connector. 2. Try a different USB Port, swap the CoCore with the COREXT if you haven't. If none of that is the problem and you know you have good power/USB 3. Disconnect all the fans from the commander CORE XT and retry 4. Disconnect the CoCORE and retry (just simplify the setup is the idea here) 5. If stripping it all the way down won't allow it to be connected and you've verified everything, Uninstall iCUE, Reboot, then reinstall it and reboot and retry. 6. Try it on another PC if you have access to one. 7. Check the cable for any breaks, pins missing, etc. If Problems are still Present, I'd suspect maybe an issue with the controller itself. capture logs from icue, go into settings and there is a "Export system info and Logs", run that while the XT is connected. Open a Corsair ticket and upload those logs (they will likely ask for them). Let me know if you get it fixed, or how it works out. Sorry you are having issues, happens to all of us. Thanks for Watching!
Incredbile work
Handy information it still amazes me how Corsair don't explain this set up better as it's a solution that many are looking for ✌️
Thanks James Lenane, I couldn't agree more! I'm happy you found the video helpful, thanks for the feedback and for watching!!!
Perfect !!! Please keep making these informative videos. Old timer here just getting back into my first build in over 10yrs. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
These videos are SOOO informative, i appreciate the work you put into your videos. I feel WAY more confident in setting up my RGB fans
This video helped immensely.
this video is so awesome, this whole set of commands, lightning nodes, etc. its so confusing, thanks a ton!
I’ve always thought about using just one commander xt. But now I know to get two.
Thanks for this vid.
This is the hell I find myself in this weekend!
Thanks! :)
Did you use two commander xt's?
You just made my life easier so much information that corsair doesn't even provide! Suscribed!
Great vid, I'm currently building a Corsair 1000D with 21 QL fans so these types of vids are perfect!!
I need to look at that case. You could light up a runway at the airport with that.
These iCue videos have helped me so much, thanks. I'm building an Aorus master setup in a Corsair 7000x. Now I know how to add another 8 fans. Awesome
Thanks Xyerious, i'm happy you found these videos helpful! Sounds like an awesome build in the works. I wish you well and above all, have lots of fun with it!!
Might have to rewatch. Kinda got lost in the multiple commander xt connections to the mobo. Good video with lots of info though.
This video is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm planning to run 12 fans. 8 120mm and 4 140mm fans
Which connectivity solution did you choose? I’m bout to do similar just 9 120mm and 3 140mm
@@Blash1 commander xts 2 of them.
Great job! Adding 12 fans and was having an issue figuring this out. Thanks for the breakdown.
I got a big case the Corsair 5000D Airflow and right now I have planned to get 9 fans. 6 intake and 3 exhaust
Thanks travot3k, I'm very happy you found this video helpful! Thanks for your feedback and support! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info! I’m trying to figure out how much I need for fans and stuff. Thanks again!!!
im currently building in the Corsair 1000D case and this video helped out a lot! I had to buy multiple Core XT modules but it is coming along
hello, tell me how to connect 23 ql coolers in 1000d so that in the metro 2033 game they glow correctly in turn! Thanks a lot :)
@Hardware Artisan Thanks for the suggestions...I'll keep you posted. May help others
Good stuff, I was wondering how it would go if I need to do more than 6 fans.
This really helpful for me im in the process of building a asus corsair rig in a 7000D with 10 140mm fans

Nice job.
You should be able to dim down the brightness. I have the core xt and it lets me
Very nice Video. I was not sure how to combine more than 6 fans but now i know it. Thanks
Hi RGBoss, I'm very happy this video was helpful to you, that makes it worthwhile!!! Thanks for watching!

Agreed, the COREXT is a cool little controller! Thanks for watching!
Do you think it will also work with 10x LL120?
Thanks for the video. Helps shed some RGB light (haha) into the various convoluted mess of Commanders and Lightings and whatnots. Still trying to process everything you've said, but at least I have a better idea what I can do if I have a Commander Node from an AIO I'm planning to get from them.
Some damn good information in this video!!!! Thank you sooooo much man
This video was really helpful. I’m going to be helping a friend install the commander core later today.
This will be their second. The first one burned up during a power supply upgrade, any idea what may have caused that? They upgraded from 750w to 1200w and a chip on the commander core burned out and stopped the fans
You can just Take a normal USB header pin apart with a pick and run the colors the same right underneath one another and it works with a cleaner look
Thanks for these videos. My question I had was definitely answered in this particular video 😊
Thanks Haies 09, i'm very happy you found them useful!!
Thanks for watching!!!
When are they making a daisy chain system??
Great video on these devices. I use the famous x7000 with commander xt, and the aio 170 140m fan with lcd, and has command core, but shows AIO in ICUE, but not the actual commander for some reason, but shows all fans, and xt, but no core. Is this because its setup as the AIO?
can you plug like a hub in one place and a hub in another place? will they work just fine?
The biggest problem is the lack of more than two usb 2.0 ports on MB sometimes there is only one usb 2.0. My experience with the Corsair Commander Pro after 2 consecutive failures and yes Corsair RMA and replaced both units for usb port failures on the commander Pro. I have been running 12 Corsair RGB fans for 5 plus years. Fans are starting to fail as I never turn the system off.
Yes on "cheap" motherboard they offer only one USB2.0 and one UBS 3.0. If you buy the expensive MBs, they usually offer two UBS2.0 and two UBS3.0
I solved this issue with an NZXT internal usb hub. $26.71 at NewEgg (sold and shipped by TechJunkie). Corsair also makes one, but it's out of stock at Corsair and absent from NewEgg inventory.
Great Video but I have 1 question that was left unanswered. Can I daisy chain 2 fans per core XT fan header?? Or will it burn out the unit.
Fantastic comparison, thank you!!
Thanks eichisama! Appreciate your feedback and support, thanks for watching!!!
How do you make the fans of the water cooler (ML) follow the order together with the rest of the fans?
Can you mix 140 and 120 fans on the Sam core or RGB hub?
Thanks for the video. Helped me alot.
Hi NeroRedgraveXIII, I'm happy to hear the video was helpful, thanks for your feedback. Keep having fun and thanks for watching!!!
Thank you.
Tysm for this video! Very helpful.
Check out this vdeo here for some ideas:
th-cam.com/video/JgLUDe1yzYw/w-d-xo.html - How to get all your RGB working with CORSAIR iCUE - Tutorial
Exactly what I needed.
Very good video, thank you!
If I want to connect 2 Commander core xt with each other, do I also have to use the sata cable for the second Commander core so that it gets power?
Or is 1 SATA cable enough for the first one and both get power?
Thanks
Hi RoBeatz, you will need to use 2 SATA power connections, each CORE XT will need it's own power connection. Great question, thanks for watching!!!!
Thanks!
Plug the RGB FAN HUB into channel 1 on the Commander PRO
In the RGB hub, connect the first 6 FANS, I usually start with the front facing bottom fan as #1, plug them in order 1-6 to the HUB. Then plug in the PWM Power connections to the PRO's PWM ports 1-6 in the same order.
For the remaing 2 fans, plug them into the Command CORE, both RGB and PWM, into ports 1 and 2
(You can change the order within each device seperatately if needed later, but you will want the first 6 in the PRO and the last 2 in the CORE)
Then connect the AIO to the CORE's 24 pin port.
Really helpful thank-you. 👍
Thank you Jasaba senara !!!
The only downside of Corsair fans is that you have to buy the fan hub seperately (not the RGB hub) if you ran out of fan slot on your motherboard. And the damn thing costs almost the same price as the case itself. Corsair should learn a thing or two from Nzxt.
thx u very much for this video 😀😀😀
Thanks MClalasky!!! I"m happy you found it helpful! Thanks for Watching!!!
I have the commander XT connected with the AIO commander but I can't get the iCue to detect my AIO commander
@@HardwareArtisan Thank you!
Can I hook up 2 comander core to a usb splitter and hook them up together and only use one USB port on the mother board
-- Can you run non-Corsair A-RGB fans on these things?
So I can add a splitter to the non RGB side, for fans 7,8,9. Can also add an additional splitter for three non-RGB fans that are not corsairs?
This would fans10, 11, 12 . They are black NZXT fans for a push pull setup. in other words, is it too much to draw on the amps at 6 via 2 three ways splitters. Another commander core XE would be easier I believe how would I hook that up in a daisy chain, or would I hook them up independently
Thanks
planning on hooking up 10 corsair fans, do i need to buy 2x Corsair iCUE Commander PRO?
Sir, are you familiar with AORUS motherboards? Mine comes with this "RGB Fan Commander", but I can I only use it as a USB 2.0 hub/splitter because (1) I only have one 2.0 header and (2) I'd rather use what I have instead of buying more stuff. I'm gonna start building soon when my components arrive.
If I would compare to your scenario #1: My RGB Fan Commander would do the same job your Commander PRO is doing. Is the AORUS controller capable of splitting USB 2.0 if I give it SATA power?
Curious.. Can I use commander pro and commander core combination for 10 fans setup?
You can buy the cables here from amazon (8.49 as I write this) (i've used these cables, they work good)
Cable Matters 2-Pack 3 Way 4 Pin PWM Fan Splitter Cable - 12 Inches

I hope that helps, great question!!! Thanks for watching!
As my other USB Header on the mobo has my cooler connected to
if you add the 6 fan hub to the xt does it still need power
Very nice video. TY
Hi, I have a Commander Core that came with AiO cooling. In your opinion, will it be safe to connect 8 fans to it, without disturbing the operation of the controller, brightness and fan speed? I'm going to do it like this:
1, 2 and 3 ports for AiO fans.
Question:
Does the Lighting Node PRO support two devices/fans but requires the RGB Fan LED Hub to extend to 6 devices/fans?
Also, is the Lighting Node CORE a combination of both the Lighting Node PRO and the RGB Fan LED Hub?
These ones confused me
::Edited to add clarity::
If you have version 4, just update to the latest version, from there, i'd try the following:
1. Try a different SATA power connector, I'm assuming your fans are spinning, even if they are, try another connector.
2. Try a different USB Port, swap the CoCore with the COREXT if you haven't.
If none of that is the problem and you know you have good power/USB
3. Disconnect all the fans from the commander CORE XT and retry
4. Disconnect the CoCORE and retry
(just simplify the setup is the idea here)
5. If stripping it all the way down won't allow it to be connected and you've verified everything,
Uninstall iCUE, Reboot, then reinstall it and reboot and retry.
