    Well Dski, you inspired me to go out and see if I could get the igniter on my Performer to work. It was 39 degrees out and very windy. I took off the igniter and wires and brought them inside. I made the mistake of pushing the button on the igniter and shocking the crap out of myself so I knew it worked. I then got out the dremel tool with the wire wheel on it and cleaned the ends of the wires that bolted down onto the propane tube. They did have some corrosion on them. I also slightly sanded the tube where the screw went in. Bolted everything back on and hooked up the wires and everything now works. I didn't have to take my table top off, just had to remove the charcoal bin. I think it took me a total of about 10 minutes to do everything and get it back installed. Thanks again for the inspiration.

    Good job Dski one less obstacle in your footpath. I know if it's not illustrated for some they might be lost, good as a DIY. Best Tyrus

    Lucky it was the battery, if it wasn't for your video I wouldn't know it had a battery thanks!

    Thank you for the video. Would you mind explaining how to change the battery, in case that's the problem, before I order a new ignition switch set? I'm having trouble finding info on how to do that.

    Good video. One correction, turning bottle clockwise to tighten not counter clockwise. You turned it correctly but just said counter clockwise vs clockwise.

    According to your video when you removed the old igniter button the positive battery terminal of the battery was inserted first. When you installed the new igniter you installed the negative battery terminal first. This would indicate that the hold igniter had the battery installed wrong. Unless off camera you switched the new igniter battery.

      Yep. That's exactly what i did. I wish it was just as easy as the battery being incorrectly placed. Great observation. Thanks fpor checking out the video.

    Nice job. I need to figure out why the igniter on my 2007 Performer no longer works. It doesn't use a battery or module like that. It's just a button. I bought the grill used when it was around 8 years old and have replaced the igniter once so it didn't last very long.

      That’s crazy Wayne. I will look for parts for that model and see if i can find anything. Thanks as always for checking out the video. Have a good weekend.

    When do you use the igniter? Coal is far away for indirect. Also does it prevent using a vortex?

    • @DskiGrillz
      @DskiGrillz  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rocketman455ci1 I use the igniter when doing low and slow cooks without the use of the vortex. The slow and sear also benefits from the igniter as it can help start the coals and be used for searing or indirect cooking. Hope this helps.

    Are you sure you didn’t just have the battery in backwards? The one you took out was not the same direction as when you resembled it and it worked again. Thanks for the video anyways. I just picked up a used performer and I’m sure it will need some maintenance.

    Dski....you misspoke again my brotha. Lol....you go clockwise to screw on the tank not counter clockwise. Small thing to a Giant. Great video.

      Thanks Jody. Check out the video again when you have a chance. On my grill it’s counter clockwise. Maybe different on yours. I started turn clockwise and realized it was counter to tighten. Have a good weekend.

      I'm a huge fan by the way. I stay in Detroit and we don't grill as often around here. So watching your set up is awesome. BBQ smoke is not too bad in open space. Love your work and your passion. 👍🏽✌🏾
