that sounds like a great idea! I just ended up cleaning a few of my grills this weekend. I need to do a deep cleaning this spring as well. some find cleaning grills a bit annoying but I kinda like cleaning them...it's a little relaxing.

Yah that area down there can get pretty bad. Especially if you don't drop some foil on the coal grate during greasy cooks. If you put apan down there or foil, your sweeper might not be as bad as mine.

Design fail. They made a little money selling me a replacement part that shouldn't have failed, it should have been stainless steel since it clearly fails regularly and considering what these grills cost. I'll definitely look elsewhere when it comes time to replace the entire grill.
it's a bummer majority of people don't know about this until the part fails.I also feel for the ones that are really bad because it can be a major pain to remove the old one. (i've seen some bad ones on fb groups) I'd like to think it's preventable if we are aware of it and make sure to keep that area clean and maybe remove once in a while to grease up and remove any rust that might be gathering. but I doubt it's preventable. I recently did a cleaning of my grill and this part is already showing signs of rust and I've been really careful with it. I guess the next time I have to replace it, i'll throw a cover on it and maybe do a deep clean more often as you said, this part should be stainless steel and we should be made aware to keep a watchful eye on this part so we can do our best to clean it once in a while before it gets out of hand.
